I used to be a former employee at america theift store in Florence Alabama and I always respect every single customer that's entered and exited the building I even dressed up as Santa Claus a holiday figure to all of the children I give out candy and pictures with everyone that's come into the store but they fired me for no reason I even hurt my right ankle and I had to wear a boot for a week then I had to wear a ankle brace but that's did not matter at all

Big store. Great selection. Good prices. The negative--Only ever one register open so the checkout one gets backed up.

This place would have earned 5 stars if they had any fitting rooms. I don't like to buy any clothes without trying them on first, no matter how cheap they are. I did get a really nice desk for $15 and a few other small things but no clothing. Everything was at a good price and I probably would have bought clothes too if I could have tried them on first.

Some of the items should have just been trashed and not put on the floor to be sold. But maybe someone will buy old ratty sneakers for a few bucks if they really need some sneakers. It's basically the price and quality of what you would find in a Salvation Army. It's just hit or miss on if you'll find anything. Probably depending on what days they put out recently donated items and how quickly you get there afterward.

America's Thrift Store is based out of Birmingham and they just opened the Decatur store last Thursday. I stopped by today to see what deals there were to be had and came upon a madhouse! All five of the little registers were seven to eight folks deep.
Why? Cheap deals on good items. Men's, Women's, Children's and even a baby section beckon the frugal shopper. There's a small appliance section as well as household, books and sundries.
I scored on two tees, a pair of swimming trunks and a pair of denim shorts for just over $8. It was worth the 15 minutes I stood there waiting to check out.
Definitely a great place to shop for the family if you're on a budget.

I just love to go in here and shop it's always a treasure hunt in much fun so very large but very clean store you never know what you might find in prices are great. I highly recommend the store to everyone.

Our family really likes the American Thrift Store. The prices are reasonable and we always find something for our kiddos.

The music is a nice touch.

This store is the best in the area! I have had nothing but great service and very friendly, helpful staff! Now grant you they have been short staffed a lot, but the staff that are there daily are always doing all they can to make your shopping fun, fast! Always have a smile. The new lowered prices are great. This store has won best of the best in Decatur for 4yrs for a reason!

This place is large but overpriced. They don't have dressing rooms and so you are left to the luck of the draw and they don't offer refunds only exchanges.
The p.a. system only seems to play Christian music, and loudly at that. It seriously will wane on you after a while of shopping...I was about ready to slit my wrists and I'm all about some God. That tells you something.
The managers smoke right out in front of the building. I hate that. I don't want to smell your smoke. Thanks but no thanks. Go out back and smoke people.
The clothes are ok. Like all thrift stores, you have to pay attention. There were plenty of stained and holey clothes that could go unnoticed while you are shopping.
The baby section was dismal at best.
The only up side was they have a maternity section. But, since you are pregnant and need to try clothes on, I'd skip this place. They don't have any dressing rooms, even though the store that was originally there did. Go figure.

I'm from a small town in Ohio and our thrift stores are horrifically prices. The America's Thrift Store in Decatur, AL is AMAZING!!!! I love it. I am here for 2 1/2 weeks and been there 3 times and going back tonight or tomorrow. I got so many clothes and didn't pay over $2 for anything. My daughter got a pair of purple heals for prom for $2!!! Cant beat that!!! We spent $50 and I got like 10 shirts, my daughter got maybe 10 or so, we got some stuffed animals for my puppy, jeans for my dad, and shoes. We got 6 pairs of new socks (teen style) for $2!!! I will be going a few more times before I head back to Ohio next week. I cannot say enough good things about this store.

Yeah there is no dressing room... solution.,.. wear a tank top under your shirt and a skirt. You can pull anything on under your skirt and over your tank. guys, wear a pair of shorts. No biggie. there are mirrors everywhere and as to the workers, they are soooooooo nice and helpful.
