Well, the office staff is very friendly.
My room was very clean. ZERO frills. You will not have little lotions, extra toiletries etc in the room.
It's January and 36° outside. There is no heater in the rooms and only a thin blanket on the beds. Note: bring your own blankets.
However, if you need a cheap place to crash for the night, this place is not bad.
Southwest offered 2000 airline points to stay here and I can see why.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 10858499302Jun 9, 2016
If you're looking to stay in Vegas but not spend extra amounts of money on a room that you probably won't be in, then America's Best Value Inn is suited for you.
This place is located right behind the MGM Hotel which is on the lower end of the famous strip. The accommodation themselves are dated but worth the value paid.
The Frigidaire air conditioning unit in slightly noisy but works tremendously in the small space that they provide you. If you have the double bedroom, and you know that you get cold easily, then do not take the bed that is next to the air conditioning unit. The TV is very old-school and the picture is wavy. The remote control doesn't even operate the television! The plugs were super loose! I could only plug my phone up to charge with the outlet by the sink! The Wi-Fi did not work at all in my room! The Wi-Fi does work in the front office.
You are provided with fresh coffee from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. and they allow you to check in as late it 3 in the morning. They even provide you with body cream because these Vegas nights and days are hot, and you will be showing skin while visiting this city known for sin. Shower gels, shampoo and hand soap are mounted in the shower and above the sink respectively.
If you plan on being in your room for the majority of Vegas stay, then spend a little bit more money and stay at a plush Hotel. If you plan on visiting Las Vegas and see what the city is about, and you only want a place that will give you a secure spot to rest your head, then do this place. You may feel somewhat reluctant to stay here if you are looking for 3 stars or above (on a hotel ranking scale) accommodations OR surroundings!Helpful 12Thanks 0Love this 11Oh no 0 - Jul 31, 2017
Overall, I was OK about my stay. I needed something very cheap for the night and I am not someone who needs much - just a clean room in a safe area. The room as clean, just older items. The whole place could use updating. There is a pool that many children visitors enjoyed. I did feel safe here, even with the room literally being at the very back and end of the property.
I was most impressed with the customer services. I was a dumb bell who booked my hotel a day later than I should have. The hotel was overall booked for the day I needed, but they told me to call at 2 pm the next day to see if there were any cancellations. I did as I was told and they were able to book me a room for the day I needed without any additional fees. The hotel gave me with no issues overall.
No, I would not recommend staying here for your entire stay in Las Vegas, but if you need just one night for whatever reason, check them out.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 168417539Mar 31, 2017
America's Best Value Inn I'm not sure I would say best value although when you're in Vegas getting a room for a little over $100 a night, that seems like a good value.
I was very excited when arriving early they still allowed me to check into my room. However after getting to my room I was terrified at the number of people who likely stayed there for a single hour and carried on with their Vegas Vacation. The smell the look, the half used roll of toilet paper (I am all for sustainable practices but...)
The television stand had been painted over and contained a very small, very old box television. The paint job just gave it a dingy feel... We weren't there to watch television and therefore it didn't cause any issue. The room it's self-contained a mugginess. There was an overwhelming odor. And a very shoddy repair job from what looked like a previous flood of some sort.
This is located just off of the strip...however, it is still within walking distance. I was surprised to see they did happen to have some type of room service or something which would not have been expected at a place like this.
They do have a pool which was nice although we didn't go for a dip. I was upset at their $50 security deposit considering it was unexpected and not mentioned. Walking through the parking lot was unpleasant to the senses although not likely their fault.
They got an extra star because after getting to the room, I totally expected a far worse experience. At the same time a star ought to be lost for the unclean light switches but we did receive new sheets the following day and the truck was safe in the lot. I wouldn't stay here again for a trip to Vegas if my intent is to gamble and party. If I were going for some other purpose and was looking to save cash, maybe but not likely. It certainly isn't a place that one would get the entire Vegas experience. For $50 extra dollars one could find another hotel actually on the strip....Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Just M.Hayward, CA16170May 23, 2018
A-OK!
The only reason I'm not giving them 4 stars is because some of their policies I don't feel are fair. That old saying you get what you pay for is so true! In this case it wasn't bad at all!
For starters this place is old...yep OLD...BUT I will say the room I had was "clean". That takes away the fact that the room is severely outdated.
Now I'll start with the policies...
I flew in on a last minute business trip (job interview) and when I called the reservation line I asked about checking in early...they said should be no problem if they have a room available. So I thought great!
I get there about 10am and Bryan at the front desk (not the friendliest person but cool) said there were no rooms...It was super hot and all I wanted was to freshen up before my interview that afternoon. I find out a room is available and go to tell Bryan. He immediately goes "There's a $25 early check in fee" I'm like what?!
They didn't tell me that on the phone...by this time I'm in the car calling corporate. I asked them about a $25 early check in fee and they said "NO" we don't have that policy. I go back in and tell Bryan what they said AND I tell him there is no sign posted that states that either...I ask Bryan for the manager.
Jake comes out (I'm guessing he is the manager) Jake seems like a really cool guy. I tell him what corporate says and then he says "Ok I'll wave the fee this time" I'm like Okayyyy (Because there is NO policy stating it's a $25 dollar check in fee) Lol! But ok so that fee gets waved...THEN I look up and see a sign that says a $50 deposit will be placed on your card to get a room WHAT??!! Lol! I've rented a lot of rooms and never ever ONCE had a deposit on my card. Jake says all hotels do that ...Uhmm NO they don't lol!
Ok so fine...I go ahead get the room. I get my receipt only to find out my bank account is LESS $50 extra dollars but my receipt doesn't show my $50 deposit!!! NOW MOST ALL places that requires a deposit (ENTERPRISE car rental etc...ALWAYS show your deposit on the receipt but not theirs that's a lil fishy if you ask me. Jake says their receipts don't show that...Hmmm...Well As long as my $50 is back on my card there won't be any problems.
So bottom line...
If you need a cheap room in an emergency/hurry or last minute or just don't want to pay ridiculous rates for a room in Vegas this might be the place for you. If you don't mind some unsavory characters hanging around in the parking lot etc. and Motel 6 is RIGHT next door and they have plenty of unsavory characters too. BE CAREFUL!!! Over all a decent stay for what I needed it for and if I had to I'd stay here again I probably would.
Thanks JAKE!!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jeremy H.Death Valley, CA4010137Feb 11, 2019Updated review
Place is not only closed, but demolished and something else is being built on the grounds.
I'm only posting this because reviews from weird Europeans are still popping up for it on Google like it's still open ... plus apparently they paid a year in advance for some "reputation management" company to leave fake "management" replies and they're still doing that ;P
No, it's definitely closed and a pile of rubble now.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 28, 2017Previous reviewFor a room this close to the Strip that's often only around $30 on slow weeknights or $45-50 on slow weekends, this is pretty reliable.
Expect basic as it gets, like Motel 6 pre-renovation, but they actually seem to focus on tourist business and keep the place up decently. I've stayed in like five different rooms over the course of last year and every time you walk in to the smell of fresh linen and the room is reasonably clean all around. Nothing suspicious on the beds, they actually look fairly recent as do the pillows.
Hodgepodge furniture and varying CRT TV sizes are kinda a random draw but just for a one night cheap sleep, everything has always worked out for me so far. One downside is you'll only get in-room WiFi if you're close enough to the lobby or pool. Great desk staff though, always been reasonably quiet when I've stayed (again during low-traffic times, don't expect NYE to be quiet). Also have hand soap dispensers and body wash / shampoo dispensers in the shower ... that's a first for any type of motel/hotel I've ever stayed at! They take decent care of the place, it's definitely well above the flophouse tier of motels. - Jay K.Las Vegas, NV50102Mar 27, 2017
Bottom-line: This is the only hotel next to the strip that has low prices all the time. Plus, there are no resort charges (a decent basic pool is the only outside amenity, really). Better hotels try to lure with deals that are only for specific days, like tomorrow! Other days are more near regular prices at such places, including at Super 8.
Access: I was visiting UNLV for a campus visit during the week of St. Paddy's Day, 2017. I am starting a PhD there in fall. I wanted a place within walking distance from the university and the hottest spots on the strip. This location cuts it both ways. Plus, it is the closest lot from the airport, and thus the first stop on the WAX city bus line; also the cheapest cab fare, if that's what you are taking.
UNLV is 2 miles, MGM side entrance is 400 m, NY NY is under a mile.
I booked this through Google Maps! Can you believe it? Just look for the deals slider on the left side, and Google Maps will hook you up. My deal was made through bedfinder, at $39 per night (including taxes etc.) for four weeknights. Typically, weekend availability and rates are different in Vegas, so bear that in mind.
The room: Juan at the desk was very nice, albeit stern faced. There was some loud sewage line work going on near the front, so he offered me a room in the back in a quiet area. The room was basic, but offered no major reason for complaint. I did see a small cockroach; hey but they've been on this planet longer--so, show some respect.
Basic shampoo and soap dispensers are attached to the walls.
Appliances: I am a longer-haired dude, so I need a hair dryer. I asked at the desk, and it was free.
As the website mentions, mini-fridge is $5 a day, and I added it. It does not have a freezer, but two ice-makers are available on the premises.
A/C: Mine was loud but effective. I could have moved to a different room, but the A/C noise helped cancel airplane and other outside sounds.
TV: Old-fashioned and basic. Worked for me. There's always Vegas outside the door for visual spectacle!
Premises: Quite quiet! Can see MGM to the Luxor beam against a jet black desert night sky, while peacefully sipping cappuccino outside (I lay down on a parked trailer, stargazing).
Help: Bronson, the electrical guy, was also very nice! He came to check my A/C's noise level immediately, and diagnosed it as "old." I understood, as one of my knees is beginning to squeak too.
Overall: If this is your price range, and you are not in Vegas to spend 24 hours in your own hotel, this will work!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jennifer M.Oakhurst, CA1424912Jan 20, 2016
I gave one star because the room itself seemed clean and there were no bed bugs (believe me, I checked!) But everything else about this strange motel room was cringe-worthy.
The furniture had seen many better days and looked worse than what you'd find in the local Goodwill. There were bugs in the bathroom. Tears and burns in the sheets and the scary burlap-like piece of felt they called a blanket (I had to double up with the one from the other bed to stay warm).
But what was most frightening was the noise. It is adjacent to a landing strip at McCarran Airport and so you are constantly hearing helicopters and aircraft land, sounding like you're in the middle of a warzone. All throughout the night a large CLANG rang out regularly, sounding like a dumpster being dropped from 10 stories. Yes, that loud. I eventually turned on the air/heat unit (which was flush up against the bed) just to drown out the warzone noises.
The Wi-Fi was so slow it was completely unusable. Should not even be considered as a perk. And I'm not talking streaming here, just getting E-mail. Would not load any website.
For me, this was a last-minute booking during CES for one night, so I made a CHEAP mistake.
The worst part is that you can look out the window and see the MGM hotel, wishing that you had had the right mind to book somewhere else in the first place.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dakota S.Boise, ID111108146Mar 17, 2018
To start with this place is super dated. Everything from the decor, to the super old tv, to the furniture in the place. Also WiFi is not available in most of the rooms. They advertise free WiFi, but as they write on the check in sheet, WiFi is available for free in common areas but not all rooms. In addition it did have a strange smell to the place. It was a non smoking room, but smells as if at some point someone had been smoking. Also the door didn't close completely (seemed slightly unsafe). While the deadbolt did lock and so did the lower latch, their was a small gap in the door. Also the room seemed cold, and the heater didn't adjust well, in addition their was no extra blankets available besides the simple bead spread already on the bed. It wasn't dirty, just dated.
Overall you get what you paid for. We picked this motel because it was one of the cheaper ones in the area. If we wanted something nicer we would have had to pay a decent amount more then what this one costed.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
