I come to The AMC Cupertino Square 16 for all my movie viewings that is unless I'm going to The AMC by Shoreline with those comfy reclining seats...but this isn't their review...lets continue. I like this theatre because it draws a good crowd and what do I mean by that is kids aren't running around all over the place, making noise during the movie, the crowd it draws for the most part are there to do one thing and one thing only and that's watch a movie. Me personally have never had a bad experience. I'm a Star Wars geek or Fan Boy so I love the geeky crowd it draws from the techy surroundings i.e. Apple, Kaiser, To name a..two! Lol!
Location is key here as you have The Downtown Cupertino scene if your on a date or with the guys trying to get out. There is no shortage of places to chill at after a movie! For you guys on a first date after the movie mossy on over to Eurekas for a bite and a tumbler of Whiskey...the gentleman's drink.
So don't take my word for go out and catch movie at the 16 and message me if I was right....or semi wrong! Enjoy!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jan 22, 2018
Aside from the fact that you could probably film a slasher/post-apocalyptic movie in the abandoned mall that houses this AMC, the actual theater itself is pretty nice. I came through on a Sunday afternoon to watch "I, Tonya" and burn at least 2 of the 6 hours my friends and I needed to wait before being seated at HaiDiLao.
The ticket purchasing process was quick and painless (yes, the MoviePass MasterCard is accepted by the self-service machines), and then it's a short escalator ride up to the actual theater. Some Yelpers mentioned unsanitary/smelly/loud conditions, but I found theater 16 to be clean and quite comfortable (really cushy seats).
There's ample parking beneath the structure, but this theater is also within walking distance of the Main Street Cupertino shopping complex.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 2511581601Nov 28, 2017
I like going to this theater because there usually are not a lot of people who go here on the weekday. The mall is mostly vacant at the moment so it sets the stage for the multi-level layout that the theater has. I like how the tickets are on the second level and the theaters are on the third level. The movie rooms are nice and clean usually and the staff is really nice especially to Stubs members. As a Stubs member, I enjoy the speedy service, and this locations pays immediate attention to its members. Thanks for good service and movie-going experience, Cupertino Square 16.
On location: There are plenty of places to eat around the theater, less than a minute drive or 5 minute walk, but not in the mall. Outside of the mall, you pretty much have your pick of great places to eat. If you're looking for a good place for dinner and a movie, this is it.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Nov 22, 2017
Always a pleasurable experience watching movies here. No lines no waiting. Huge facilities to screen multiple movies and space large number of people. Lots of staff at box office that move huge crowds quickly. Restrooms are clean.
There are good options to eat. Usual popcorn and chicken nuggets. Recently I saw that they sell herbal teas as well that is a good option for cold winters.
Cold stone creamery near the box office makes the trip more pleasurable and fun. Hope they start to screen Bollywood movies too.Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0 - Nov 19, 2017
This is actually a pretty awesome place to watch a movie. The theater is huge and the crowds here are normally a lot more well behaved than most theaters. It doesn't have reclining seats, but the theater is really large, and normally isn't packed.
One should note though, that the theater is in a ghost mall. Yeah, a ghost mall. You might have to deal with some creepy noises and seeing something move in the shadows as you make your way to the theater. I'm not sure why this mall fell apart, but it did. It's a great location and the theater is keeping this place afloat. (Maybe the bowling as well)
Still, I love this location and hopefully it's able to stand the test of time.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Sep 25, 2017
It's a night to stay up late
Things we have to do can wait
We've got catching up to do
There's a glow about you
This is the perfect night to catch a cold
Turn on the falling from the north shores
Stay up till the sunrise
Make a wish
There is no way we'll be forgetting this

Unplanned but coordinated perfectly.
Been meaning to see this guy for a long time. My schedule is hectic. His schedule is not the best either. On the days/evenings where he is free is when it's most terrible for me however, I am a firm believer that if you want to, you can certainly make time.
The movie we saw was It and I liked it very much; I laughed, I closed my eyes at certain scenes, and I even cried... if you need a reason to cling onto the person you are watching this w/ then I would highly recommend this movie.
The theater located on the 3rd floor. The box office is located on the 2nd floor. The parking (at least where we were parked) was located on the 1st floor. I enjoyed wandering around looking for the parking garage because I was so not aware of my surroundings. Never have to w/ this guy.
Thank you for being you - driving me and paying for me. I know you do not count those things and neither do I but I do know how much you have done for me and I want to do things for you, too. You are so hard to read!
P.S. You look handsome w/ your glasses.
P.P.S. So when are we going dancing?Helpful 12Thanks 0Love this 17Oh no 0 - Lillian Z.Sacramento, CA5584141727Jan 5, 2018Updated review
Oh man. I can't tell you how sad it makes me to write this review!
Back in 2013, I thought this AMC was the bees knees. It was my favorite theater in all of South Bay and was the shining light of hope for the rundown Vallco Fashion Plaza/Cupertino Square/whatever the heck it's being called these days.
Those were the glory days. If you look at the monthly trend of Yelp ratings for this theater since 2014, you can see that the reviews all started out averaging 4 stars, and that average monthly rating has slowly declined over the years. This AMC is going down the toilet.
Almost literally. The reason for my review update is that my most recent visit here was almost unbearable.
My sister and I went to go see Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which was being shown in theater 6. I don't know if it's just theater 6, but as soon as we opened the door to the theater, the entire place just smelled of urine/sweat/BO. It was disgusting.
I thought that maybe it was just the little corridor leading into the theater, but nope. It was in the theater itself as well. I thought it was just me, so I tried to suck it up, until my sister turned to me and said, "I don't know if I can sit through an entire movie with this smell. I may have to leave and come back in at some point."
I felt gross the entire time I was sitting in the theater.
Maybe it's only theater 6, or maybe you were having an off day, but what happened to you AMC Cupertino Square? You used to be my fav! You're not the new kid on the block anymore and I'm not quite sure if age becomes you well...
tl;dr: I will still probably come here fairly often because this theater is convenient, but I'm disappointed. Bring back the old magic!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Feb 12, 2013Previous reviewI love you Cupertino AMC! You have singlehandedly managed to save Vallco (though whether or not Vallco has actually been "saved" is still up for debate). Before this AMC opened up, Cupertino residents had to trek elsewhere to find a decent movie theater, but having a nice theater in Cupertino is so much more convenient.
I am in love with the layout of this AMC. Some people find the escalators up to the theater a nuisance, but I really like them. Having the ticket booth/box office on the second floor helps with congestion in the area surrounding the theater, and it is kind of a nice view going up to the second floor where the theater it located. The automated box office machines are my savior, and my go-to way to buy tickets since I hate waiting in lines.
The lines to wait for popular movies on or near premiere night are annoying and long, but you get that at most theaters (the Cinnabon and Coldstone's help with the wait though!).
tl;dr: My favorite theater in South Bay! - Jul 10, 2017
This movie theatre had some of the dirtiest seats I have ever seen at a theatre. Went for a 9.30 pm show. I am not sure if the cleaning staff had already left or what. I saw popcorn spilled on so many seats and the ground. Popcorn and other food packets left on the seat, paper napkins lying on the seat and ground. I understand it is the customers' responsibility too to not trash the seats ,but the staff should have cleaned it up too before the next show.

Went to see the Avengers/Avengers: Age Of Ultron Real 3D double feature here on the Thursday evening when it was released.
I've never been to a double feature like this before. I bought my ticket online a couple of days earlier. I was disappointed that AMC provides no option for a digital ticket. Back home - my local theater - a Regal Cinema - offers digital ticket options that you can show on your iPhone.
When I arrived, attendees were given a special limited edition Avengers: Age Of Ultron poster and a special lanyard with an Avengers/Avengers: Age Of Ultron card attached to it. Looked very cool!
Before The Avengers started, movie theater staff came in and conducted a trivia game - with questions about the Avengers. The questions were about anything Avengers - the comics, the movies, etc. After the first movie ended, there was a brief intermission and they came back in and did a few more trivia questions. I raised my hand for one, got called upon, and correctly answered the question - which earned me a special "Avengers: Age Of Ultron" pin.
I came back on Friday evening to watch Avengers: Age Of Ultron in a regular HD format. I find Real 3D to be incredibly distracting and annoying, so getting to watch without the distractions was great.
I came back a third time to watch Avengers: Age Of Ultron, this time in IMAX 3D. I've never seen a movie in IMAX 3D before - and I have to say, it blows the Real 3D experience right out of the water! So much better!
The theater was clean and very comfortable. Very enjoyable!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Feb 15, 2017
In a decaying mall, one place will rise up, and keep this place in buisness, enter AMC.
My good friend went about asking out to a movie on Valentines Day, and I went about saying "heck yes!". She wanted to watch La La Land later in the evening and I was totally for it. We met up, bought our tickets, and enjoyed ourselves. Yes, movie ticket prices are incredibly expensive, and yes, movie theater food is a monumental rip off. My friend and I made the best of it, and had dinner BEFORE the movie, so that all we would need would be popcorn. The theater wasn't crowded which was a surprise, and the seats were fairly cozy. You could even lift up the middle armrest part for more space! ;) since it's an AMC movie theater, everything actually works, the sound on the movie is fine, picture quality is good, and the movie area is nice and clean
Overall; it's really another AMC movie theater, we'll taken care of and good movie quality. Good place for a flick for when you want to see something with some of your friends or a dateHelpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
