This airport is very clean and customer service is awesome. I love that they have the baby seat inside the stall so you don't have to try to hold a baby and do your buisness at the same time. More places need to have these!

I love small Airports! And commercial Airports don't get much smaller than this! I flew in from Dulles International Airport on Silver Airways/United Express.
28 minutes total - from wheels up at Dulles to wheels down at Altoona-Blair! Compare this to a 3+ hour drive from Reston, VA to Altoona!
When we arrived, there was one other plane on the tarmac. As I deplaned, my nostrils were greeted with the pungent odor of manure! This little airport is amidst Pennsylvania Farm Country!
When you walk into the terminal, you are immediately at Baggage Claim. There is only one Baggage Claim carousel. They did not bother to turn it on. They walked my suitcase from the plane into the terminal.
There is a small gift shop - but it was closed when we arrived. Upstairs there is also a small restaurant - which did not appear to be open when we arrived (about 6:15 pm).
Unlike the previous reviewer - Lisa D. - I had decent cell coverage on AT&T. I had at least 3 bars inside the terminal.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lisa D.Altoona, PA8311738Nov 8, 2010First to Review
Quick tip: You legit only have to be here twenty minutes before take off!!
I legit don't even know how to review this little airport. It's nothing fancy at all. It's just a little small town airport. Everyone here is always super nice, very friendly and very efficient. But I mean how can you not be efficient when all of your flights only have, at the most, thirty people on them.
The airport is in the middle of nowhere. (Don't expect cell phone service) It does have a cute little diner upstairs, I believe it's called the Kitty Hawk Lounge. I've only eaten there once, but it was as amazing as you would expect a mom and pop type diner to be. There is a little gift shop the sells Penn State stuff and Amish cookbooks.
I guess I would say my favorite part about it is that your family can meet you at the gate when you get off the plane. You land, you walk down those rickety plane stairs, and there's your family waiting for you.
Anyways, if your trying to fly into Penn State on a football weekend and your flight into the UP Airport is $700 checkout the Altoona airport (AOO) and you'll probably save $300!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Betty D.San Francisco, CA03Nov 6, 2019
Just recent I flew out of this airport. The airport is very clean and the person at the counter was very pleasant. She greeted me by name as I was the only female boarding. The check in went very smooth. However, I did not like the way TSA singled out the only 2 people that were from California. A young man in front of me was told to step aside so they could check his person. My thing was a tube of toothpaste. What's the deal? My toothpaste went through fine when leaving SF airport. It's not the thing with the toothpaste, but the fact that they singled out two people from California. The other three passengers went through with no problem. Maybe I should have told them that I was born in Pennsylvania. Which I was.
I do understand that TSA is there for our own protection, but a tube of toothpaste??!! Come on!!!
The pilot was very nice and it was a very smooth flight. For that I thank Altonna-Blair Airport. Thumbs up for the Airport. Thumbs down for TSA.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Justin B.Williamsburg, PA53Nov 14, 2013
Cheap flights to IAD which is basically your gateway to the world. Flying from here beats driving down to Virginia or Pittsburgh. I've been on a flight with as little as 3 people so expect an empty plane but it is kinda awesome. Free parking. Why bother driving to a bigger airport when you can fly from little old Martinsburg.
