What a wonderful place to stay to enjoy Alta! The staff are amazing. The food is delicious and it's conveniently located. I came herewith my 6-old and can't wait to bring my entire family back. There aren't TVs in the room but who cares? The entire feel of the lodge is homey and sets the tone for a wonderful ski vacation.
The rooms are spacious. clean and comfortable and include all of the amenities one would need.

Let Alta Lodge and its staff take you back to a true ski vacation. (Don't worry - they have wifi)

We visited the Alta Lodge in August for a wedding and stayed there for several days. The Alta Lodge feels like a lodge experience from days of the past. There are no passenger elevators, so trekking up and down the stairs with luggage without being "climatized" to the altitude is a challenge. It should be noted the staff will assist you with your luggage if necessary.

Regarding the location, it is fantastic. The views are incredible; it literally looks like a post card. Although not skiing season, there are lifts (not in operation due to summer) everywhere. I imagine it gets pretty packed and crazy during the winter. Hiking opportunities are everywhere right outside the lodge. We went on a "novice" hike that took us to the top of a mountain like eight miles away. OMG.

As part of the wedding party and my officiant duties, there were multiple breakfast and dinners organized by Alta Lodge. The staff was fantastic, and the food was good. Alta Lodge also has a weekend brunch that attracts people from all over the area. The brunch was top notch!

Regarding the accommodations, we had a fireplace, balcony, and a view of the mountains. It was a great sight. Our room did a have a bad smell (as did other rooms in our group) that I believe is the result of months/years of moisture in the carpet, drapes, and wood. This is the only thing I did not care for. Only other issue is the front desk is not occupied 24/7, and anyone can walk off the street and into the hotel. I would recommend better security.

Overall, the customer service and quality of wedding organizer made up for the two issues noted above. Again, the service at Alta Lodge was excellent!

I ordered a sprite and it tastes like a Lucroy!!! And then I also tried the coke and it was not the right shade of brown. It tasted so bad and waters down. I think that they dump snow into their machines because the drinks are ass. Would not recommend their drinks. I have not tried their food yet.

      The sprite.....

We drove up to Alta for their Sunday brunch. It certainly is a beautiful spot. Alta is unspoiled, and dining while looking at that alpine view is a marvelous experience. The brunch is massive, and all the favorites are served. In addition, Eggs Benedict and Eggs Florentine can be individually ordered. The "all you can eat" buffet has an assortment of salads, egg dishes, a couple of pastas, breads etc. There is a dessert table as well. During your meal, an innocuous band plays music they call jazz. These musicians didn't go the Berklee School of Music, and their sound is more akin to an elevator than the Village Vanguard.

The music is an apt reflection of the food at Alta. There's a lot of items, but nothing is memorable. Nothing is horrible, but nothing is good. It's like eating elevator music, if you get what I mean.

Yet, I will return to Alta Lodge's brunch just for the experience. The drive is beautiful, and the view inspiring. With this kind of stimuli, the food is allowed to be an afterthought.

The Alta Lodge is a great ski experience!!! Great food, facility, and best of all a very accommodating staff. While the lodge will take you back to the 70's, they have kept up necessary upgrades... My kudos go to Kaitlen, Jessica, and Anna for the awesome Yoga class... thank you so much... Their expertise, knowledge, and passion for Yoga was truly a great way to start each day...Can't wait to return

This a review on the Sunday brunch. Brunch at the lodge is awesome! First class service from the staff and a selection of high quality items either from the all you can eat menu or the entree section. I've been wanting to try this place for a while now and so glad I did. It's definitely worth the short drive up the canyon. I sat inside next to the windows and enjoy amazing views and soothing live jazz music. It's great to have things up and running again and the Alta Lodge doesn't disappoint!

I'd give it 6 stars if I could. Maybe I'd give it 10. Who knows. Stars don't matter at this point. The Lodge has a tradition that they are rightly proud of. That tradition is skiing, and the skiing in the Wasatch is outstanding. Add morning yoga, breakfast, second breakfast (not kidding), afternoon tea and cookies baked in house, sauna and hot tub, dinner with desserts also made in house, and last but not least the legendary Sitzmark club, and you have yourself one of the best vacations.

      Updated review

This is for an update of the brunch. Chef Raddon retired and the reigns were turned over to the new guy who's only been around 20 years. That said, while most things stay the same, some change. It's still a great deal, and they've done a fantastic job of shade on the deck compared to the old days. The layout and style is the same, but a couple things have changed. The magic dish for decades was the teriyaki chicken thighs. They were marinated for five days in a mild sauce that made the flavor concentrate all the way through the meat. Now it's gone. So is the giant bowl of chocolate mousse with whipped cream layers. The thighs were replaced with chipotle spiced boneless chicken thighs that were a little dry and not really showing the chipotle very much. There was a nice pot de creme instead of the mousse, but it's not the same thing.

So, I'll miss a couple of the classics. I'll hope for some form of signature items to replace them. It won't stop me from coming.

When you get off the slopes after a long day the one thing in your mind is food and trust me this place does not disappoint. First off the food wow, this stuff beats a 5 star restaurant, and B this place has the best/funniest employees I've had and that is a massive statement considering how much of a yelper I am with my 5 reviews. If your skiing Alta this place is a must go.

With carpet, wooden walls and furniture, the casual and cozy bar at Alta Lodge is the perfect place for an après ski - there's no whiff of ski resort corporatism here.
