I love this place. We were aimlessly wandering for a food place on Christmas Day. Everything was closed, except AJ's. You walk into the 1950's or 60's with great music, and the classic diner experience. The shakes are to die for (and that's that I'm lactose intolerant), the tortilla soup was heavenly, and the hamburgers are....(no words to describe). The meat patty is all made by hand, the ingredients are fresh. I am definitely coming back here. I have driven by this restaurant hundreds of times and never gave it the time of day! I regret not coming sooner.

Our recent visit to the 1950s-style diner was like stepping back in time. The ambiance exuded pure '50s charm, with classic hits playing on the jukebox and the diner staff dressed in attire reminiscent of a soda jerk from the era.

We indulged in handcrafted milkshakes, opting for both strawberry and vanilla flavors, and were delighted by their rich and delicious taste. Unfortunately, the milkshakes were so filling that we didn't have room for any food, but we look forward to returning in the future to sample other items from the menu.

The staff was attentive and friendly, adding to the enjoyable dining experience, and the restaurant was impeccably clean. Overall, our visit to the 1950s-style diner was a delightful trip down memory lane, and we can't wait to come back for more nostalgic treats.

I love this place. My favorite dish is the club sandwich or the tuna sandwich. The milkshake is delicious and I love the style and not crowded like most restaurants.

Good 50's vibe. Test another good chocolate malt. Nice fat burgers. I got fries, but there are other options. Place was clean, friendly staff.

The burgers are DIVINE! And there shakes are sooo yummy.
I was trying to find a good burger place in the area for my anniversary dinner, as I just moved here I had no idea where to go. I googled best burger places in El Paso and this was in the top ten. I would have rated this number one!

It also is just a really cool fun place to hang out and grab dinner

Located on the westside, AJ's has been an El Paso staple since 1986. It's a retro diner straight out of the 1950s.

Soda fountain counter, jukebox, and other nostalgic memorabilia can be found as soon as you enter. Woody Woodpecker cartoons were playing on the TVs and Smokey Robinson and The Miracles were crooning "ooo baby baby" when I recently visited. AJ's definitely has the feel of that era down.

Loved that some of the burgers were named after greats of that era: Fats Domino, Little Richard, Freddy Fender, etc. Tried the food and although served fresh, overall I thought it was okay. The Muenster Mash is a solid green chile and muenster cheese burger. I didn't like the spicy mayo on Rooster; something was off about it, and the chicken was a little on the dry, tough side. The biggest disappointment? Milkshakes were not available. What?? I rarely ever order milkshakes, but I think most would agree that this is the type of joint you must have one with your meal. The server explained that they were out of the ingredients (milk and ice cream?) and the owners were away on vacation.

3.5 stars. Cute place, definitely something a little different from the norm. Small patio seating is also available (4 tables). The burgers are decent and fresh; I would say they are better than many fast-food options and are about the same price. Check out their $5 Burger Tuesdays for a great value for your dollar.

I went in to this place with average expectations and just wanting to try there milkshakes, but after eating here once I will definitely be returning. The food matched the super cool and unique ambience. I got the chili con queso burger and the meat inside was so delicious. My family also ordered three milkshakes and each one was literally the best I have had in El Paso. They serve them just like they used to at Fudruckers. The service was also super kind and humble.

My girlfriend had never been here before so I decided on our next date night we would go before the movies! So this past week, we had said date night and headed over to AJs diner. Since It was a weekday, it was not very crowded which was good!
Our waiter was great and he was honestly a gem with his jokes and great sense of humor. He was also very good at making sure we had everything we needed. I wish I got his name but he is a young guy, with shirt black hair, and he was working on Wednesday, October 6.
Now onto the food, both my gf and I both got the chicken sandwiches but I got it with the Buffalo sauce and ranch and my gf got it with bbq sauce. We both also got the curly fries. We also got the mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. Everything was delicious! For a desert, we shared the Oreo milk shake which was soooo good!
We will definitely be returning for future date nights!

We have come to AJ's on Tuesday for the $5 special & haven't been disappointed!

First time we came, we waited for 45 minutes because there was a mixup in the kitchen. The server was friendly and offered a small compensation, which went a long way. They made our food, it was fresh & great and we have been back since.

The atmosphere is very family friendly and old school diner, which is awesome!

Their shakes are great too, coming from someone who used to work at A&W! And they bring the extra in the metal container, which I'd a big deal when other places don't.

Their burgers 1-5 are all good and cooked perfectly and well seasoned. We will be back and recommend everyone trying it out!
