Airboat Rides Inc.

My friends and I took a day trip on our adventure into the swamp and we were all pretty impressed.

We went with a few other people and filled up the 20 seater orange airboat with plenty of legroom. Right off the bat we saw about a 10 foot gator, it's something if the airboat driver was surprised! Lots of snowy egrets, and blue herons swooping around and flying out of the cypress trees. The driver gave us a pretty solid rundown of the plant life on the swamp, and brief history of the WWII war effort in the area as we drove past a few enormous, sunken, mobile dry docks.

From there he picked up speed, shot through old power pole pylons, did a few power turns stirring up all kinds of bird life all over the swamp. I really enjoyed myself and took a good amount of pictures. I think the final gator sighting count was up in its twenties after an our our on the boat.

The price can get steep at $35 a person, leaving you a bit skeptical about the quality of the tour. Which is why I'd recommend trying to get the smaller boat with 4 or 5 of your friends for more of a personal tour.
