Alex was incredible and did such a great job on my root touchup. I am platinum blonde and he was very educational on the process and treatment of my hair. Would absolutely recommend for anyone that is blonde in NY to come here. Compared to most salons in NY the pricing is great.

Can't say enough about Liz, Alex and the team at Aerea Salon. Liz has been doing my extensions for a while now, and they always turn out perfect. She introduced me to even better hair than I was purchasing before and the right products to make them last and look great. Alex does my color and I love how well he can color match to the extensions. The blonde is always so bright and has lots of dimension to it. Everyone is so friendly and makes you feel comfortable. No stuffy salon vibes here!

I came to this salon this past July after reading the spectacular reviews online - I'm a brunette and wanted some quality balayage. I requested working with Alex, who people seem to rave about.

What I got was all-over highlights with foil and a massively rushed job. He charged me for Balayage - and when I asked him whether this was actually highlights (to my understanding), he got nasty, condescending, and aggressive with me. I've never been spoken to like that, especially not by someone in any kind of service industry- I was nervous taking a hair risk, but wanted to trust him.

He then handed me over to his colleague for a haircut and told me "you're in good hands". She used a BUZZER to "cut" my long hair, and then tried desperately to give me angles for the front. She kept trying, failing, and asking me if it was okay. I feel very guilty writing this, because she was so kind and clearly doing her best. But for New York prices, you expect expertise.

I went to a different salon to get it corrected, and the stylist doing my hair was shocked at the job that he had done.

Please save your money and spend it elsewhere - there are SO many wonderful, professional, kind, capable stylists in New York.

I have NEVER gotten a better full blonde highlight!! I dropped in here in April of 2022 on a whim. I, unfortunately, live in CA and have been on a MAD search for a job of this caliber since. The color stayed for a really long time. It was vibrant and looked like I just walked out of the salon for multiple months. I WISH I could remember who did my color. I truly have never had a better color in all my years coloring my hair (20+ years).

Omg! Best blonde highlights I have ever had. I've been in NYC 11 yrs and have been to the best of the best, but I'm furious I am just now discovering this place. Anissa is the BEST there is at blonde. I was really vague on what I wanted, but she listened and delivered. I am now a permanent future client. 5 stars

BEWARE of this salon -1 star is too generous. I tried this place out to get my roots done as a double process blonde. My regular stylist left out of state. My hair is medium/light brown, and lifts very easily. They left the bleach on my scalp so long that it burned my head. I had an open wound, ( look at photo below) - left the salon in terrible pain. They put a cooling ointment on on scalp and said it was my fault because my hair as too clean. Apparently according to my hair stylist friend, that used to be the case years ago- but products are not formulated like that anymore.

My hair was so damaged piles of it broke off at the root area, took me years to rehab. This place is a the worst - surprised it isn't closed down. I go to Maire Robinson salon - best decision of my life.

I had a truly horrible experience at Aerea that left me with extensive hair damage that took over 2 years to recover from.

During the service my stylist barely checked on my hair and even went out for coffee mid service. The salon is very busy and stylists take multiple clients at once. When bleaching hair it's incredibly important to check throughout to monitor progress and the integrity of the hair, which my stylist did not do.

I left the salon gummy over bleached. My hair was absolutely ruined root to tip to the point that it was breaking mid length, essentially leaving me with bald patches.

I couldn't believe my eyes. I was completely honest about my previous coloring treatments - if it was not possible to get my hair to the color I wanted without damage, the stylist should have said so instead of frying my hair into oblivion! No professional would ever do this, especially without warning a client about the potential outcome.

The salon manager offered a complimentary Keratin treatment, but was excessively rude and combative the entire time. I was already incredibly upset about having my hair destroyed and his terrible attitude had me literally crying in the salon!

Completely unprofessional in all aspects.

I've been trying out different NYC salons for my regular haircut in the past 2 years, and don't see myself returning here. I always ask for a standard cut for my long straight hair -- I prefer layers at the bottom, and also a little bit of attention towards shaping my shorter hair on the side. The layering at the bottom was very mediocre, and the horizontal cut line still looks pretty blunt. I don't think she knows how to layers well and give the bottom a lighter feeling. She also definitely did not know how to handle the shorter bangs at the side, and did something very basic there. From the way she spoke about my hair, I did not have much confidence that she knew what she was doing. I can live with it but I've had better experiences elsewhere.

Alex at Aerea is the KING of blondes. No joke, every time I visit he is always working on the most beautiful blonde hair. There is no pressure or pretense when going to Aerea, it literally feels like hanging out at home. I don't require a lot of maintenance so only see Alex twice a year but, cannot recommend enough. Efcharistó!

I've been coming here for almost a year and continue to have the best experience each visit. Alex & Liz are so great and the salon itself is spacious and really nice.

Alex has done full highlights for me and the color was exactly what I asked for. 3 of my friends started coming here once they saw how perfect my blonde was. :) In October I wanted to go darker, and he did a 10/10 job with the color I wanted yet again. And then this week I came back to get a balayage for the springtime and I was hesitant since I had recently went back to dark, but I think this is my favorite color my hair has ever been. I went back in today since I wanted a few more bright pieces around my face and they got me within two days and were so attentive to the changes I wanted. It's stunning!

And Liz installed my extensions a month or so ago, which I also couldn't be happier with. She does such a careful job and made sure multiple times that I was happy with the way they felt on my head. They've kept up beautifully, I highly recommend her.

The prices are also the best I've seen in the city - I wish I could give more than 5 stars because I've definitely found my favorite salon (and that's coming from someone whose been coloring their hair for 10 years).
