Never, ever again. I was a fool and didn't read my own review and I suffered for it.
My experience started with a trip to the counter terminal which sported a "desk closed, proceed to shuttles". Stood around for 20+ minutes, no shuttle (every other rental co had been by at least 2x). So i tried calling. No answer. Tried again and after 10 rings was told "you need to come to the terminal desk". The rude employee claimed there was no sign, yet no one was there, no one picked up the phone and the sign was STILL THERE when I went back to the desk.
After checking in, the sullen clerk told me I had to take the "Love Connect shuttle" which drove me a few miles from the airport into a very sketchy area. The actual car rental place is a long term parking lot and the "offices" are in an old freight terminal. There's no ramp, so plan on lugging your bags up a flight of steps or leaving it completely unattended. There was little to no official signage and I honestly questioned if this was a legitimate business or a scam that was going to end with me getting murdered. The inside offices are makeshift - like folding table makeshift.
My car was "ok" - it smelled of smoke and wasn't terribly clean. The return experience was bad too - none of the addresses for this place work and there's no signs directing people. Again, rude, sketchy employees. When I finally got to the right place I asked the guy why no signs snd his reply was "well, we just moved here". How the fuck is that my problem?
Seriously, rent from ANYONE else.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0May 14, 2014Previous reviewWow! Lots of hate for this Advantage location on Yelp!
I had rented from Advantage out of DFW before & been happy with them. Since their rates were about 35-40% lower than the others, I chose to use them out of Love. Believe me, it's not at all the same experience.
As others have noted, you have to check in at the rental desk in the terminal and then take the Parking Spot shuttle to a shady-ass trailer in the middle of nowhere. Good luck if your flight comes in early or late, because you're probably not getting a car. (Or getting picked up) The employees weren't at all friendly or helpful at the terminal or the pick up location, though I didn't get the hard sell on insurance either.
My car was "ok" - originally I was told I'd get a Mazda but ended up with a Hyundai because my original car "didn't have any gas". Ummmm...ok...whatever. It had about 20K miles on it and ran just fine. Still, the driver seat was pretty badly stained...like "monster burrito emergency" stained. Gross. At least it didn't smell like smoke and it had satellite radio.
Would I rent from Advantage again? At DFW - absolutely. At Love - probably not. I'm willing to accept some hassles in exchange for a lower price, but the whole pick up situation is weird/inconvenient and the employees are rather unpleasant. - Sid S.New York, NY23193138May 2, 2018
Worst rental car experience ever. They claimed charges for $126 for a damaged tire and there was no damage. I had to pay up. Seemed like a bogus claim. The shuttle service was also extremely slow and rude driver.
I will not use or recommend this company to anyone. Better to go with popular Hertz, Enterprise etc.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lucas H.Lincoln, NE2411324Jan 14, 2015
Wow, won't make this mistake again. Cars are good, but better add an extra 45-60 minutes to your schedule. No shuttle, have to use the Parking shuttle and watch as every other person is dropped off at their cars first.
Good luck!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sam P.San Francisco, CA1182Feb 23, 2018
This place is horrible. They had no shuttle and when I get there they had no cars evem though I had a reservation and prepaid the entire weekend! They also wouldn't refund me there and instead I had to call customer service. What a terrible company! Never again!

Car pickup experience I'd give 1 Star. Car drop off I'd give 4 stars. So avg 2.5 but that isn't an option so I was generous in rounding up...only because of lowest cost by far.
DO NOT use this company if you're in a hurry. I stood at the shuttle pickup area at 7:30am on a Tuesday morning for 25 minutes. Meanwhile, every other rental company shuttle had come through 5-6 times to pick up their customers. I was cutting it close getting to my work conference on time as it was, and the delay definitely set me back enough to arrive late.
If you're not from the Dallas area go ahead and agree to the $20 toll fee add-on during checkout. I was unaware tolls here aren't where you drop change into the toll booth, rather it's all electronic and a bill comes in the mail. So the car rental company isn't paying your toll if you declined the toll option add-on, then you'll get ticketed.
The agent that did the walk around when I picked the car up uttered no more than 2 sentences. Horrible customer service and very little assurance in the quality of the walk around since she didn't communicate her findings with me. I did see her markings on the picture and agreed, so I left it at that.
The agent inside at the counter was helpful and efficient, but seemed rather rushed and didn't explain the toll thing to me. Clearly an out-of-towner based on my address on DL, so it would've been nice for her to explain in more detail what I was declining.
The agent who helped me when I returned the car was great. Check in process took 2 minutes. Had to wait about 10 for the shuttle back to the airport, far less than when I arrived.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Eric H.Breckenridge, CO07Aug 25, 2018
I was in a hurry to use the restroom before heading to the airport. Accidentally left my wallet in the car before using the restroom. Told the staff, who retrieved it for me.
Car was in their back lot for 5 minutes only accessible by employees. After receiving my wallet $270.00 in cash was stolen from my wallet by their employees. Reported it to their headquarters. No action. No report from their manager. Nothing.
Literally committing crimes against their own customers. No integrity. Horrible business.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - J D.San Francisco, CA28160141Dec 13, 2015
Possibly the worst rental car experience I've ever had. To warn you:
1. Advantage rental car advertises as "in terminal" but it's in fact many miles outside of the DAL airport
2. Counter check in at baggage claim took me 45 min (not exaggerating)
3. Waiting for the shuttle to pick up cat require 20-30 min
4. No check in counter when you arrive at the lot- you just wait next to your car space (rain or shine) and this takes anywhere between 5-30 minutes
5. They are severely under staffed so expect lots of delays in picking up your car 1+ hours
6. Drop off of rental NOT in airport- it's wayyyyy out there. Make sure you use the Prudential Drive address not google maps address
In summary- this is a horrible idea to rent a car from Advantage. Pay a few bucks more for peace of mind. It's not even that much cheaper ($32/day after taxes and toll fees even though advertised as $16/day).Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Victoria C.Las Vegas, NV370122Nov 27, 2016
6814 Harry Hines Blvd - in the love connection parking lot.
They won't answer their phone and are very hard to find. I haven't even gotten to my car yet and I'm having a bad time.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ravi C.Belmont, CA8129622Nov 25, 2014
Horrible place to rent!! Buyers beware!
The line moves at glacial pace. The clerks try to sell you everything under the sun. They mislead you. It is a very taxing experience. The slightly lower price is not worth the pain.
The clerk out right told me that his job is to make money off me!!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
