OK, familiar storyline by now. We're hundreds of miles from home at a shopping mall in Marquette. My mother-in-law's van suddenly won't start. A nice local guy gave us a jump and diagnosed it as a battery problem. Them Interstates don't last the 72 months like they used to...

Anyway, he told us to go to Advance even though NAPA was closer. We went to NAPA contrary to his advice and the battery test failed but guess what... they can't replace it for you. It's a Sunday afternoon so you can't just go anywhere. And this uis the UP, so in a few hours from now everything will be closed. We went to Advance and sure enough, they can do it. They even have a cart packed with all the tools needed for the job. Our guy Steve took out the cart to the parking lot once we picked out the battery and got right to work. In less than 15 minutes we were back on the road with a brand new battery. They even gave us a rebate for returning the old one to recycle the core.

So if you need a battery, come to Advance for good service and a on a new battery.

Genuine heroes without capes! I misdiagnosed a burnt-out brake light and they sold me the correct part, but it of course didn't solve my problem. So after I'd broken one bulb trying to force a solution, they identified the real issue (dead blinker bulb), replaced the one I'd purchased and broken, and shivered out in the cold with me to make sure my light was fully-functioning before I got back on the road. And all of this free of charge! These guys go above and beyond.
