I always have fun at Aces. They are well known for the incredible array of immensely talented performers who play here weekly.
My favorite local band (Selwyn Birchwood band) plays here whenever they're in the area and the whole place just rocks.
First off, I've been told that the original owner bought an old barn from somewhere well North of Florida, had it dismantled, shipped to Bradenton and reconstructed there ( how cool is That ? ). :-)
Now, about Aces . . . they have big coolers filled with ice and stuffed with a decent selection of ice cold beers. They also have taps as well as a number of craft beer offerings in bottles and cans including my fav (Cigar City Jai Alai). They have hard liquor, mixed drinks and a few generic wine options.
The food is pretty good to very good. Recently, I had the boneless wings and the Cheesesteak egg rolls. Oh Yeah ! Not healthy but a pure delight with a cold IPA and some incredible Blues music (Yes, Selwyn was playing). I've had a number of other things to eat here but it's been a while and I'm not going to review what I can't remember. I will say that I have never eaten here and been terribly disappointed.
This place is special ! Not your ordinary bar or even a typical music venue. Picture an old rough hewn timber barn, converted into an awesome music venue with a small to medium sized stage, small dance floor, great drinks, good food and pool tables upstairs. I'm telling ya, this place is just too cool.
Please note that they do charge a cover charge on the nights that the more popular bands are playing (typically $5 - $15). Many nights there is no cover charge and you will find another of the many talented bands who wouldn't think of coming to the area without playing at Aces. Give them a try on a night that there's a band performing. I doubt you will regret it.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Joshua W.Indianapolis, IN238611Apr 1, 2011
Good blues bar. Tip for n00bs. Look at the Calendar, then youtube the bands playing ahead of time. That way, you'll watch a blues band you enjoy!

This place is absolutely awesome for live bands, check their schedule often.
Service at the bar is good, service on the floor is often horrible.
So go to the bar and get your drink and sit down for some great music.

5 star for music, blah for food menu... do you really need 6 types of grilled cheese sandwiches... and not one burger offering?

If you ever get a chance to see this artist you need to do so. Very talented and entertaining. But back to Aces... first there is the wait staff... properly named because you'll wait and wait and wait for your drink or dinner order... The band got thru their first set and our dinner was still waiting to be served....then there is the food...not very imaginative... shrimp and grits was floating in a pool of oil reminiscent of the BP Horizon oil spill...iceberg lettuce was disguised as a Caesar salad that had been left in the sun. so bottom line... go for the music and have dinner some where else.

Fred Eaglesmith was a big disappointment! His wife was great, a multitalented musician! Why would she waste her time on a loser like him. He was drunk, insulting patrons, what a waste of money!

Wow - the food here is absolutely ridiculous. Started with a house salad and knew from that point on that there was something going on here that belied the smoky, dilapidated interior - how about some great Italian food.
We had Shrimp in a white garlic sauce and a Pizza - both were fabulous. A cannoli to finish was also very good. Can't say enough about the food, this from an Italian couple from Boston accustomed to eating in the North End.
The service from our Bartender was also great. Chilled Captains came out perfectly, and she certainly looked after us nicely. This is a great find for those that love really good Italian.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chris W.Marietta, GA872Dec 30, 2017
What a terrible place!!
We went to see a local favorite guitar player and while the music was great the service was Terrible!!
They were not at all able to handle the crowd who came for this event
We sat upstairs and the bartender was by herself and she was not capable, 1.5 hrs after we ordered our food it had still not been served, we saw several people who left before theirs was served.
I asked for my order to be cancelled and for a refund, the girl at the bar downstairs could not do the refund so I'll just have to refuse the payment.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Betty H.New Port Richey, FL61Nov 27, 2017
the was the best rock and roll place ever. About ten years ago you couldn't even get into the place - no cover charge either. Best bands. Miss the ole Aces
