First off, the front desk and dentistry team at this place are super friendly and warm! You're not dealing with a cold, abrasive people. However,
I'll say this practice is quite expensive and leans on the more aggressive side of treatment. I haven't kept up with my cleanings so I knew I probably needed work done but they recommended three root canals and started talking about future implants. I was also told I had him disease and received a treatment that I later found out was not covered by insurance and very costly. All that to say, this place is probably ok if you need a routine cleaning but as far as a permanent dentist I would seek a second opinion to save you from invasive treatments and such high costs. I've been here twice and both times the staff were very friendly. The first time I got root scaling and planing. For my second visit they cleaned my teeth and gave me a filling. Very minimal pain and they explained the procedures and prices beforehand.

Told me i had gum infection. Never got to see my xrays. Tried to get me to stay same day and get it done before i had a cleaning. Went to a diff dentist for a second opinion and my gums are perfectly fine. Did not have any spurs on my xrays. If i would have listened to the dentist here id be out however much money and put through a needless procedure. Absolutely AWFUL.

My daughter had an appointment to have two of her wisdom teeth removed last Tuesday. When my daughter arrived for her appointment, Bryan, the office manager, told my daughter that he canceled her appointment because I was rude when I scheduled the appointment. We never got a text message, or email stating that the appointment was canceled. This is so unprofessional to cancel a patient's appointment without notifying them, or because you decided that I was rude. If you thought I was rude I would expect that you voice your opinion and let me know instead of canceling my daughter's appointment without sending a text message, or email. Thankfully, there are other dental offices that will be elated to remove my daughter's wisdom teeth. This is a warning. Please TREAD lightly when you speak to Bryan because he's very sensitive and may cancel your appointment if he feels like you were rude. Be sure to call before you go to your appointment because it may be canceled without your consent.

Tried to upsell me a deep cleaning and promised to contact my insurer to determine my out of pocket costs. Lied about that and suspected they were upselling the elderly for unnecessary services.

I've been coming here for about 3 years, maybe longer, and they have been my favorite dentist since day 1. The dentist chair has never been my favorite place, but I'm not nervous when I come here.

The crown in question from my prior appointment ended up needing more work, so I eventually had to return to Acadian. Dr. Girod was extremely kind and mentioned that he had seen my previous review. He was gracious about it and apologized for the service and my experience with the dental assistant and the call center.
He removed and replaced my crown with a same-day crown and I left satisfied with the service. It has been over a week since I had it replaced, and I have experienced no problems. I am so pleased that it worked out well and that Dr. Girod was so professional about my treatment considering he read my last review.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Jan 12, 2018Previous reviewI moved to Baton Rouge after receiving instructions from my prior dentist in another state to have a crown replaced on a back tooth. I read good reviews and thought I'd try Acadian Modern Dentistry. The clinic is clean and everyone was friendly in-person, but those are the only good things I can say. I had a temporary crown placed on my tooth and instructions to return once the permanent crown came in. It took several days longer than expected, and in the mean time my temporary crown fell off. I called in a panic (I was scared to have an exposed root canal in my mouth!) and was told "just don't chew on that side." No other instructions at all. My permanent crown still had not arrived so I came back to have the temporary one glued back in. The woman who was providing my service did not even wash my temporary crown (I had put it in a ziplock bag) before putting it back in my mouth. I asked her if she should wash it, and she said "as long as it didn't fall on the ground or something."
I probably should have gotten another dentist at this point.
I returned when my permanent crown came in and the same woman who provided my service before actually dropped the crown on the floor right before she put it in my mouth. I stopped her and requested that she wash it first, which she did. She was unable to get the crown in my mouth and required help from the dentist. The worst part of the entire experience is that as the woman leaned over me, her chest was literally resting on my neck and face. She did not appear to notice. After the dentist assisted her, I felt okay and I left. After I left, someone ran outside and got me because they had forgotten to have me sign some kind of waiver stating that I was satisfied with the color of my crown.
The next day, I had numbness and spasms in my cheek on the side of my new crown placement, which got progressively worse. It was worse with chewing. I called the clinic several times for assistance and never got a call back. At this point, I decided never to return to Acadian. I found a new dentist who diagnosed my crown as being placed improperly as well as being too high. He was thankfully able to shave the crown down to size in my mouth, which alleviated my numbness/spasms. He did all of this for free after he heard of my awful experience with Acadian.

Today was derailed by a dental emergency. My long time DDS told me it would be a week before they could help me fix work they had previously done. They had zero compassion leaving me in pain, scared and frustrated. Incredibly disappointed but so happy that a friend recommended Levy and Vutera Family Dentistry who fit in an emergency procedure for a new patient with compassion, grace and a smile from answering the phone to fixing the problem. They made me feel like I mattered, answered all my questions, helped me and all at a very reasonable price. They are my forever dentist now!
