A Tan For All Seasons

The last 10 times I've called to make an appointment for mystic, I've been told that mystic machine is down, they're waiting for the repair guy or the solution, yada yada. This is over the course of the last 6 months!!! The first time I got the song and dance from the manager(?), I was sympathetic. But, I've seriously, got the same story every subsequent time (and the infuriating thing is he's so nonchalant about it!) Seriously, the guy is totally inept and they need to either replace the machine or ditch it as an offering.

By contrast, the San Mateo location has it together. However, I work near the Burlingame location where I can easily swing a lunchtime spray. Supposedly, they are owned by the same person/persons but I'd be shocked if that was true. Not only is the service level better, the San Mateo location is cleaner, better appointed and comes off as much friendlier.

I actually like a Tan for all Seasons in Burlingame. I used to go to the one in Menlo Park when I worked down that way. But the one in Burlingame is a lot closer to me now.

It looks sort of crappy when you walk in, but there is hardly ever anyone in there. I also think that they offer a better deal on their beds than other tanning salons in the area. The only thing, when I would use the most expensive bed (Sonic?) I would not get that good of a tan. But when I would use the next bed down (Orbit??) I would get a good tan. So I don't know if the bulbs needed to be replaced or what. But save your money and go for the second bed..

When I bought a package, they gave me a few free tans, which was nice. You do not need to make an appointment here, there is usually always a bed open when you walk in.

I generally expect to enter a tanning salon and be uncomfortable and have to talk to someone who appears to hate their job (which has been my experience at every salon I've walked in to) but, to my suprise, this one was NOT like that! I called ahead of time becauase I wanted to try the MYSTIC TAN. I had never tried it before but had tried California Tan (the one that a person has to spray on you). On the phone, the girl gave me a ton of tips and was super nice. When I went in the next day, she had remembered me and was just as welcoming as she was on the phone. So I got my Mystic Tan (took all of like 4 minutes) and I was out the door - all for $20!

So it was my first time getting a mystic spray tan and I think it came out really good. I was as white as can be and now I have a nice medium glow. The man was super kind. I watched the informative video a few times to see what to do. I didn't make an appointment it was just a walk in. It was inexpensive and I'll definitely do it again.

I love ATFAS! The blonde girl who works there in the evenings is super sweet, and BOB - omg I love Bob, the owner.... he cracks me up and treats everyone so well. It's a small and privately owned business so there are unexpected closures... but for the price and the people, it's great!

I only use the Mystic tan here and it works very well. I'm in and out in 5 minutes. Once I went in and there was a problem with it not working well but the next time Bob gave me a free tan. He is really personable and a great business owner.

The salon in Burlingame is closed for good! Just an FYI.

Bob is great, I recently just moved from Northern Virginia to the Bay Area and couldn't have asked to meet a nicer guy. Bob is very attentive to your needs and makes sure that everybody that walks through the door has good service and a positive experience. Place is clean and always has at least one bed open. Bulbs are changed out regularly and the place is maintained, dont let the older style fool you. This is a true hidden gem in Burlingame!!!

although the same company, this location is less desirable. regardless that it is much closer to home. this is because they are never open. i don't know why. i think it is an older location, with older machines, and an older man who runs the joint. every time my friends or i have gone there in the last several months, they have been closed, despite their posted times. and there isn't one of those "be back in _ minutes" lunch break signs. just go to san mateo.
