A-K Auto Mechanic & Body Shop

A-K is my go to mechanic. Sam has fixed different issues on my car over the years and is always fairly priced, honest and quick. I drop my car off in the morning and by the time I'm down with work, it's ready for pickup. I won't go anywhere else as long as I live in Bridgeport, A-K is the best!

Be Aware. Story: Needed rear door to be fixed and brought it for an estimates. Given by Owner: Sam for price of $1400~. Took the car in two weeks later. Dropped the car, and went over the estimates again with Sam, and left the car there for repair. Within 45 min, I received a call from Sam, asking me to come back to the shop and discuss which repairs he should fix. Be confused, I biked there again. Now he is arguing with me that the quote of $1400 included only the part of the repair, and now to do the new job, the cost is over $2800. He also made up lies of how I did not want to fix part of the damage on the same door panel. I ask him: Does it make sense I wanted one part of the door to be fixed, but not other part, when I am doing this through insurance?. Took the new estimates and left, and not going back again ever. Buyers be aware.

My car was hit while it was parked. The other person took responsibility for it. I called other repair shops but their earliest convenience would be 3-4 weeks to even start the repairs. I then stumbled upon A-K auto mechanic shop, I called them and they said I could drop it off and they could start working on it immediately. I was honestly impressed by how they handled the insurance claim and the entire process. Dropped off my car on a Monday and it was ready the following Tuesday. Highly impressed by their professionalism and knowledge on how to navigate an Insurance Auto Claim.

A+ client service. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone. My car had body damage and it was fixed excellently in the quickest amount of time they could. I will be going back for other auto services.

If I could give this business zero stars I would. I brought in my car for an estimate for a repair. I didn't hear back for two days, called and was told the mechanic would call me right back. I waited an hour, then walked to the shop. The mechanic asked me to wait for the estimate. I said no problem and sat down in the waiting area. Suddenly, I think it was his wife, came out of the office and in a loud voice said. "You can not sit here" and demanded I follow her into the garage. She found a folding chair and set it outside in the parking lot. Please keep in mind it is 99 degrees out this day. I asked her why could I not wait in the office, why would she make a customer sit in extreme heat? She spat out "Pandemic". Neither she nor her husband were wearing masks so I don't think Covid was the reason. I could not believe the rudeness and lack of consideration for a customer. If they treat a human being with such disregard, how will they treat my car? I asked for my keys and after some back and forth the mechanic gave them to me but not the estimate unless I paid 95.00.

They were able to fix our car when other shops said they couldn't do it. They gave us a reasonable estimate for how much it would cost and stuck with that price. Would go back!

My wife and I just moved to the South Loop area and glad to discover this auto workshop. Been here 3 times so far and they have reasonable pricing for your regular car service and brake pad change. For my most recent service where my signal and brake lights were out, they changed an additional bulb for me without charge since they forgot to replace 1 of the 2 bulbs. Thanks for the great service!

If you are looking for a trusted mechanic, Sam is your go-to man at AK Auto. He took the time to explain to me what the issue was and even showed me the OEM parts he ordered. I had both of my struts, springs, brake pads, and rotors replaced here and my car runs remarkable now. He gave me a reasonable quote and all four repairs were done on the same day. I will definitely be coming back here for future repairs.

P.S. Due to language barriers, the desk lady may come off as rude on the phone, but she is very nice! Her English is not the best so be patient with her.
