A Healthy Home got rid of my very early stage bed bug issue (we only ever found one bug and I was averaging 2-3 bites per week). The cedar fogging and the DE dusting worked -- it's been over two months and still no bites. I'm thankful that a less toxic and more natural remedy exists.

Took way too long to reply. I had conversations/communication with 3 companies by the time they contacted me.

Dave was a top tier consultant! Fantastic customer service and professionalism. A true expert of using exterminating haunting critters. The organic methods were efficient and safe for my family. Please make A Healthy Home your fist choice for bedbugs or dust-mites.

Dave was amazing, and he didn't even get a single penny from me.
After pleading for 5 days with our building's management to send a bed-bug inspector, an expert finally shows up Friday morning. Management needed a "sample" before sending for someone (??). In any case, she inspects our bedroom and finds the little rascals (8 of them) on the back of our bed's headboard.
With utmost coolness, she asks my wife and me to "prep the apartment" and proceeds to let us know that she'll be back in 3 days, on Monday, for her first treatment. She then leaves.
What she did not know about was the neurosis my wife and I were experiencing. How on earth were we supposed to stay in the apartment for 3 more days, doing virtually nothing to stop these buggers? Aren't they gonna spread? Aren't they gonna completely take over our apartment? Where on earth are we supposed to sit!?
That's where Dave comes in.
We simply called him and explained the situation to him. He easily could have said that we should bring him over right away; he easily could have said that the expert from the morning visit had no idea what she was doing. Basically, he could've said anything at that point, since we were on the edge already, and we immediately would have asked him to come over that night.
Instead, Dave did everything right. He was a great listener (both my wife and I needed to vent), very analytical when asking questions and responding to our concerns, and, most importantly, Dave was honest. He asked us both to calm down a little bit; he explained to us why our situation was not so bad; he educated us on bed-bugs; and then finally told us about his services and his prices (which sounded pretty fair, actually.)
I really appreciated Dave's honesty and professionalism, it goes without saying that we will be calling his company if we ever need some kind of pest control service (hopefully not, though.)Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Queen D.Baltimore, MD01Jan 18, 2021

Pro tip: take their advice and invest on mattress covers ASAP. We stopped dealing with bedbugs after we finally put them on our bed.
I'm a little overdue for writing this, maybe because I was afraid we weren't yet out of the woods, but we had a very positive experience with A Healthy Home some months ago. Discovering we had bed bugs was distressing, and we knew very little about the process (are they on the dog? will our neighbors get them? do we need a new wardrobe?), and talking to David on the phone was equal parts education, appointment scheduling, and therapy.
David came the day after I called and left the apartment smelling like cedar (one of the natural poison-for-bugs-harmless-for-us treatments they use) for weeks. The process to eliminate the bugs took longer than we would've liked, but hardly as a consequence of AHH's work. They followed up with us weekly, and after the third treatment, we stopped seeing any bugs. While bedbugs are a persistent pest, AHH made the process as smooth as possible.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lyn S.Washington, DC04Jul 15, 2020
Working with David was a wonderful experience. He is an expert of many years, and was able to diagnose what insect was bothering me (it was not bedbugs, as I was so worried It was) from a photo I sent, and gave me tips on how to get rid of the actual insects myself. All this was free of charge! Highly recommend.

First I will say that after having several treatments (all covered under the same payment) we appear to be bedbug free in the house. When we first discovered the bugs we panicked like everyone else and wondered if we could get rid of them, but with diligence, the treatments, and following directions it seems to have worked and we're about 3 months out from the first sign and still going good.
Healthy Home does two different types of treatments, both included in the same package. 1) Cedar oil fogging, 2) Diatomaceous Earth (DE).
1) Regarding the cedar oil fogging, I'm not entirely sure how effective it is, though there is at least one study which found the oil could kill bugs and even eggs on contact. At the very least it doesn't smell bad and isn't as toxic as pesticides.
2) The DE definitely works, though it isn't a contact killer which means you have to spread it around and wait for the bugs to walk through it. Yes, that means you have to sleep in your bed and wait for the bugs to bite you at night. A little creepy, but necessary and has been proven to work if applied correctly and diligently.
Honestly I wonder whether I could have saved myself some money by simply trying the DE myself, but there is no way to know and since the treatments worked I would say it was money well-spent. If you are hard up for cash you might try to self-treat with just the DE, but if you have the money then AHH is actually cheaper than many other options and at least in my experience was effective and had a guarantee.
Finally just a note to other folks that if you do discover bed bugs just remember that everyone else on here had the same problem and eventually got rid of them. It can be a painful, long, and expensive process, but you can get through it!Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Ignatius C R.Washington, DC558Dec 19, 2012
DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS COMPANY. I cannot stress that enough. I have no earthly idea where/how all of these 5 star reviews came from and find them very curious given my experience.
I spent well over $1,000 on the "services" provided by this sham of a company. In the end? I ended up throwing away three couches, a bed, and having my life upended because of the persistence of bedbugs.
When you're ordering a ribeye steak, organic is great. When you're trying to eradicate Next Level parasites? It is an exercise in futility.
The treatments went on for over a month and little to no changes occurred. "Diatomaceous earth" is the substance they cover your floors in and will dry your skin beyond belief. I've read that it's sometimes effective, but I have literally been watching bed bugs crawl through the powder unfettered for months now. However, if you MUST go organic save yourself $1,500 and buy diatomaceous earth from an online retailer for less than $20 (shipped to your door) and spread yourself. ps - Good luck, you'll need it.
The ineffectiveness of A Healthy Home's tactics is rivaled only by it's lack of customer service. The instructions were confusing and contradictory at best. When questioned, they were unprofessional and uninformed. Based on their repeated inconsistencies, I seriously doubt their working knowledge of bed bugs.
As for advice, I'm not sure there is much I can say about other approaches as I don't know that many pesticides (if any) are effective, only that organic did not work for me. I have heard the heat treatment is pricey but effective, but who believes what they read on the internet anyway???????????
In closing, I genuinely hope you don't get bedbugs as I can assure you there is NO easy fix. What I can ALSO assure you of is that if you employ a Healthy Home to assist you in these dark times, you will likely regret your decision.
Still fighting,

Thank you for your feed back. We are doing our best to take them to heart and improve our customer service and outcomes. A Healthy Home always strives to provide the best service for our clients.
When treating for Bedbugs, there are occasionally difficult cases for us, and we try our best to resolve any problems which arise. Our instructions may have been confusing for him. We have always taken the time to explain them when asked. I am sorry that he did not understand the warranty, as we promise to continue to treat for 2 months and are almost always successful when we do. Canceling the treatment after one month was his choice
The author of this review asked where did all of the good reviews come from. They are unsolicited reviews from the hundreds of satisfied clients over three years who have used our services. Clients who were looking for an effective alternative to toxic pesticides for ridding their home of Bedbugs. People who are looking for an alternative to spending thousands of dollars to kill bugs which no company can guarantee will not return someday. And an alternative to draconian preparations prior to each treatment.
What we give our clients is less preparations, a simple treatment, one that is effective, backed by a two month warranty, and in almost all cases much less costly than other professional treatment options. I hope that those of you who read this will give us a call and let us help you as we have hundreds of other residents of the Washington, DC metroplex. As a bonus, we will give any readers of this a money back guarantee of our Bedbug treatment. Terms do apply, so give us a call, today! - Kran J.Ashburn, VA2561Sep 14, 2012
I had healthy home do the treatment for my home.
I was a bit skeptical about the use of non-toxic chemicals but , after this treatment i changed my mind. It was very simple n easy process... you might need 2-3 treatments but its very effective way to treat bed bugs without using toxic chemicals
