From skeptical to sold, I had such a nice experience here that I jumped right on yelp to review.
A Salad buffet style sit down restaurant with various stations serving pizza, baked potatoes and pasta- this place even has Colombian coffee.
I made a keto friendly low carb salad with all kinds of greens and healthy fats. They made it easy for me to stay on track with a wide array of healthy but delicious options
I wasn't sure how the place worked so I did what I do best: ask questions. Dornisha, despite being busy restocking a delicious spring mix salad, took the time to help me and when she wanted to get a better answer she sought out Ashley who was amazing. She talked me through the selections, the establishment and the quality of the produce itself. Thanks to that top notch customer service I found the combo that best suited me.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 3596051185Jan 13, 2018Updated review
You are better off using the Yelp discount from the check-in rather than the Veggie Club coupon!!
Start with dessert, ok! Doable... continue with soups? Or pizza or... salad!
we
- fresh ingredients - check!
- hot soups - check!
- sweet and regular baked potato - check!
- pizza & breads - check!
- mac & cheese - check!
- muffins & fruits - check!
- soft ice cream - check!
And how many times you want to serve yourself to this ALL you can eat buffet!!!!!
Start at dessert if you want!! Yum yum!!!!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Aug 24, 2013Previous reviewGreat deal for a great salad!! Or salads...!!! Yummiii!!! The Salad Bar is gorgeous!! Start getting some prepared salads with some dressings or start making your own salad as you walk thru the Bar. Three types of greens to start with and a whole variety of vegetables, garbanzo beans, beets, petit pois, egg, black olives, peppers, fresh mushrooms, onion, corn, cottage cheese, and a whole lot of things that I am totally missing!!!!! On the other side, you will find the hot food, focaccias, home made breads (3 different types), home made soups (a variety of 8), pastas, and... and... wait for it.. wait for it... dessert!!! Ice cream, mousse, brownies. This is an all you can eat and help yourselves!! So if you love veggies, this is your place!! I could eat salad all the time!!! but would kinda miss the meat a bit,..... hehehhehe. No meat place, but the Salad Bar steals the show! Check it out!
The location is a bit off, since it's not visible from the main street. But definitely a place to try!!! - Jul 13, 2017
Not impressed... I was seeking a healthy lunch option for my daughter & me and had received a coupon for Sweet Tomatoes in the mail, so decided to give them a try.
While this would appear to be a healthy option at first glance, it can quickly turn into an all-out carb frenzy. Baked potatoes, breads, and cheese-covered breads galore; muffins, muffins, and MORE muffins.
The food can only be described as "ok". Perhaps I was expecting better/more at $13 per person for lunch. I was disappointed at the overall experience, and I am glad I did not pay full price. There are 3 hot pastas being served, but I wouldn't call them hot as much as lukewarm. All three pastas lacked flavor and were mediocre. The breads were good; the focaccia was "ok" and also lukewarm. The baked potato bar was "ok"; the chili was good. The ice cream lacked flavor and was "ok", and the brownie bites were hard on the outside. Too bad because the brownie bites tasted good on the inside, so they have potential if they weren't so over-baked.
The salad bar is the obvious jewel of the restaurant. Expansive and well-kept, it boasts every single topping you could think of and a wide variety of dressings, but it is not enough to carry the experience for me.
I did not care for the layout at all. You immediately encounter the salad bar upon entrance and get your salad first. The register sits at the end of the salad bar, after which you find your seat and are able to explore the other mediocre food available. As a first time visitor, it confused me. Why not just have the salad bar inside the dining area with the rest of the food?
Staff was friendly, which I always appreciate, but this was a first and last time thing.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Feb 2, 2019
We haven't been able to go to Sweet Tomatoes in a long time since they closed the one in Addison, TX so this was a treat. Lots of salad options on the extra long, two sides, salad line! Once in, there are several awesome soup choices, breads, baked potatoes and desserts to enjoy all you can eat! The place is clean and staff kept up with dirty dishes. Overall a solid experience!

For those of you that are "visual people" lol I don't know exactly what's wrong with your eyes but everything on the salad bar taste as good as it looks. I love getting here right at 11:00 a.m. when they open, being the first to dig in into all the freshness. I've also dined at this location around 6:30-7 p.m. when it's pretty busy, and sure sometimes the busser is a bit slow but thank God I have 2 arms and 2 legs and I could put trays where they're supposed to go and get a new one if need be. I love this location, food is fresh and good and the employees when I have interacted with them are friendly.

If you want to overeat, you can come here and stuff yourself like a pig and still feel... healthy. And not having to pay a lot, especially if you use a coupon (which you totally should as they are online and in newspaper/flyers everywhere.)
Yup, Sweet Tomatoes is one such place, with a very long counter of options to build your own salad, and a soup corner where you have like 8 varieties of soups, which are all advertised as made from scratch, and clearly marked whether they are vegetarian or not. There are also baked potatoes, sweet potatoes, pasta, focaccia, cornbread, fruit, ice cream and more.
The flavors are generally good, except for the pasta, which always taste bland and rather unpalatable when cold. Also, the fruits are often rather sad looking. Ditto for the salad, some days they look great, some days they look dead. But then you can't expect too much from the price. If you want buffet or something not too pricey, this is not a bad choice as all. Just go easy on the dressing, lol.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Ana Cristina P.Miami, FL74042190Nov 30, 2017
This is one of my favorite places to go with my kid! Sweet Tomatoes has the best salad bar on earth, and both me and my child love to overdose on the many healthy choices available!
Everyone who works there is super friendly, the food is crazy affordable, and there's never a wait!
An added bonus is that, while I try to stay on the salad bar side, there are also more sinful choices on the other side of the restaurant- pasta, flatbreads, baked potatoes to load up as much as you want, and soups galore for those 3 days of winter we have in Miami.
I only took off a star because the dessert section leaves a lot to be desired. There's something about the ice cream that doesn't taste right. Anyone else with me on this?Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Beatriz L.Miami, FL31464062868Aug 6, 2017
This place is one of my favorites I don't know if it's because it's an endless dine experience?!? Or that I'm a girl that eats with her eyes lol..
I receive in the mail coupons all the time for dine in all you can eat for $11.99 but you can also get that deal if you download retailmenot app. I believe they also have a point system were you receive great deals in your email.
I'm a big salad and soup kind of girl and i love the fact that I can make my own salad and add the desired amount of dressing and come back and change it up as many times as I want.
My favorite soup is the french onion and mushroom you can also add as many topping or cheese as you desire.
They have pizza available if you have your kids and their not a big fan of salads and soups.
The dessert is vanilla or chocolate ice cream with mini cones.
This place is simple with good hearty food for a budget. Love this place..Helpful 18Thanks 0Love this 12Oh no 0 - Marilyn M.San Diego, CA4402626859May 6, 2017Updated review
Someone listened!
They have now added (in the last 2 weeks or so) signage for all their food and beverages! Fingers crossed that the staff will keep them on in the correct spot.
I am impressed. Thank you.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Marilyn, my name is John Morberg and I am the CEO of garden fresh restaurant Corp., parent company of Sweet Tomatoes. I read your review and wanted to reply. Thanks for visiting and writing a review. However, after reading it, it's clear we haven't done a very good job in in helping you understand our concept. For instance, we make everything from scratch including our 8 soups. We store soups in bags as it is the easiest method to cool them according to health dept requirements. We do the same for our wet mixes in the bakery, all from scratch, from real, wholesome ingredients. That includes our muffins, pasta sauces, most of our dressings, etc.
If you would send me your contact info at ceo@gardenfreshcorp.com , I will personally arrange a tour of our restaurant for you and another meal on me. I just don't want you to have the wrong impression of our fresh concept. Regards, JohnAug 16, 2016Previous reviewIt is what it is.
Salad and soup bar with cheese bread and frozen yogurt. I recently discovered the baked sweet potatoes (add a little cinnamon from the provided shaker and voilà , a low cal dessert for moi!)
Seniors and families seem to make up the majority of their customer base at this location.
I never come here thinking I'm going to eat healthy. The only way to do so is to load up your plate with lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes and dress it with plain red vinegar. Anything else is going to quickly rack up the calories. Frankly, I've only done that twice. Instead I usually have a heaping serving of their super sweet, mayonnaise based raisin-broccoli salad, scrambled powdered eggs, any of the white dressings, and cheese of course. I think once I tried to behave and I stayed away from the hot section (where there is cheese bread, cornbread, sourdough bread, out-of-the-plastic-bag-soups, baked potatoes as well as the dessert section. All other times I've had "just a little".
The food is generic, prepacku and mass produced but for $12 when I'm in a hurry, this is where I go.
The drink and dessert areas are usually messy and or dirty but the bathroom is usually clean.
My biggest issue with Sweet Tomatoes is the lack of signage on the items. None have the nutritional information and many are out of place.
I would give S.T. one more if they offered protein or at least some fruit options (fresh berries for example) to add to our salads and all five stars if they corrected the sign issue.
