I've been going to Dr. Bishop for all 4 of my kittens and puppy. I've recommended my family members as well because he and his staff are the most caring and compassionate people I know. I've been to other veterinarian s for past pets but none can compare to Dr. Bishop. He remembers the personalities of my cats and dog and genuinely cares about their health. He never recommended anything frivolous like some other vets might to make money. He would give me choices to consider without sacrificing the welfare of my pets. When my puppy was in emergency care and then moved to his care and kept at his office, he would check on him in the middle of the night to make sure my puppy was doing okay. Not every veterinarian would do that. My puppy is 5 yrs old now and runs into Dr, Bishop's office cause he loves it there.

Bottom line the only reason I'm giving 3 stars is For the actual vets and how they treat my pets. Both vets are quite amazing and treat my pets really well when I bring them in.
The negatives are the front staff (in particular a man, did not get his name on the phone) and neglecting to give me the full medication I had paid for. I was charged for 6 heart worm pills and only given 5 in a box. Previously I had been overcharged before here, which was rectified once I called and pointed this out. the only reason I caught it was comparing the receipts after the fact, since they do not breakdown the charges for youu before you actually pay.
So biggest thing is check your medication before you leave to make sure they gave you what you paid for, and go over your receipt to make sure they charged you correctly.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Eric K.Key Largo, FL1510023Nov 21, 2019
More interested in $$ than pets. I recently moved to the area and tried North Main based on their yelp rating. Surgery was recommended as a must along with some overpriced meds (they charge 3x above online prices) When the meds appeared to address my dogs issue I called the Monday before the scheduled Tuesday surgery to see about other options (I wasn't keen to put my 14 year old dog under sedation unless absolutely necessary). They finally got around to calling me back on Thursday and she blamed the delay on "no date on the message". I would not let these people work on my mother in-law let alone my pets.

My first experience front desk staff was rude. My second experience doctor to the time to have a through conversation with me and discuss the health of my pet over the phone. The doctor has an amazing heart, I'm not convinced of his staff just yet.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 14, 2019Previous reviewThe most rudest place ever. I honestly find them over priced and the staff treats their clients horrible. I will never go back! I was so upset I began to cry, my dog really needed medical attention and they told me to go else where then. They don't care about the animals at all.

Very grateful to have Dr. Bishop and his team taking care of my kids. My 11 year old cat, Archimedes, recently passed due to a brain disease and they were very kind and helpful. Usually, I was the only one who could touch him but he was very comfortable with Dr. Bishop. I also take my German Shepherd and female kitty to North Main. I know they are in good hands on our visits. I highly recommend Dr. Bishop and his great team at North Main!

Wonderful bed side manner, and they saved my dogs life a few years ago when she accidentally swallowed pills.
I owe them everything. I'd never take my dogs anywhere else.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - bhavin s.Alpharetta, GA205Feb 26, 2016
We got our first pet - a labrador dog "Eva" of 8 weeks old. I was looking for the nearest location for a Vet to go through all the vaccinations for her, in her first few months. I read all the reviews and chose this place. We are glad we did!
Dr. Chad and his staff is very caring and attentive to each and every need of our pets. Eva, actually loves to go the hospital, unlike all the reviews of pets not wanting to. I have not been to any other Vet hospital ever and I have no reason to go elsewhere either, now.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

They are in it for the tests and meds they can sell you. I took my dog there the first time to get updated vaccines, etc. (our normal vet closed/moved :-( so I thought I'd try here based on reviews.) $440 later.... "well she needs this test and an elder dog blood work up, and, and, and... Oh, don't give her that med, here are some to try instead." Did not say they were selling them to me. Did not give me the option of getting it from a pharmacy for a much lower price. But I paid the bill because I love my fur baby.
2 weeks later she didn't seem to be doing well. Went back, "well, it could be ... a whole list of ailments." (none of which of course was due to the meds they gave her.) But to find out we need to do more blood work and tests. --- She had a UTI. My old vet would have started with, "let's do a urine sample and go from there."
Not at North Main - their motto is "Let's get all the money we can first and then figure out what is wrong." Walked out with another $330 bill. They charge you before you get an invoice to review. Oh, and they slipped in some meds without explanation. When I got home and found the meds I called a pharmacy, I could get the meds from them at 1/2 the cost. I called No Main and was told they couldn't fax the Rx because their fax is "broken" and their policy is not to take meds back. I said, "well your policy should be to explain what you are giving."
I know medicine is not a science but these vets are the worse I have ever been to. They are really in it to sell tests and medicine. Will not be returning. I'll drive an extra 20 miles if I have to so as to avoid this money grabber vet.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Louise,
We are so sorry to hear that you were disappointed in the veterinary care that your daughter's dog received. I would like to address your concerns point by point.
1) Your concern: we are in this business for the tests and medications
a. We at North Main Animal Hospital pride ourselves on being able to provide quality care for affordable prices. We make sure that we always talk to the owner about all of the options that we can do, go over which ones will be the most effective and at what cost. The first time we saw Daisy Mae, her owner (your daughter) brought her to us stating that she was overdue for all of her vaccines and that she was unable to provide history on her pet because the previous vet closed. Our Doctors recommended a few different options for Daisy Mae including senior bloodwork to evaluate her overall systemic health, specifically evaluating the renal and hepatic values to ensure that pain medications were safe to give for her suspected arthritis. We also discussed performing radiographs for her lameness in order to confirm arthritis, however your daughter declined, electing to manage with pain medication for suspected arthritic pain.
b. When the bloodwork came back and there were some concerns about the kidney levels we suggested switching to a different medication that would not damage her kidneys further.
c. A few weeks later you made a recheck exam for Daisy Mae because she didn't seem to be doing any better after her first visit. At this visit the vet recommended rechecking the bloodwork because Daisy Mae had developed new clinical signs consisting of increased water consumption and urination. This can be the early signs of diabetes, kidney disease or liver disease just to name a few. It was discussed with you that blood work was very recently performed, however due to the abrupt change and newly developed clinical signs, systemic blood work was a good place to start. You approved this bloodwork before it was performed.
2) Your concern: We did not give you options for other pharmacies
a. One of the medications that we filled for you, can in fact be filled at Costco, which we were unaware of until you called and informed us. We then called Costco to confirm that they had the medication and the price. Fact is they sell it FOR THE SAME PRICE AS WE SELL IT AT THE CLINIC. The other medication is only sold by veterinarians as we told you over the phone.
3) Your Concern: that we don't know what to diagnose your dog with.
a. Unfortunately for all of us with animals, veterinary science is not an exact medicine. Our patients can't talk and tell us what is wrong with them, so we have to make our best educated judgment. The way that we make the best judgment is to run diagnostics just like your doctor would. As we discussed during your appointment, bloodwork was a good place to start as Daisy Mae's clinical signs could have many differentials. However, if clinical signs persisted, and bloodwork did not provide a diagnosis, additional diagnostics such as imaging would be discussed. We elected to perform diagnostics in a step wise manner in order to conserve funds and help guide us with regards to further diagnostics and treatment options.
4) Your concern: That we wouldn't take your medications back
a. We spoke with you on the phone and informed you that it was not a problem to return the medication that you purchased. We informed you that the medication was in a blister pack, which was tamper evident, allowing us to return the medication and thus refund your credit card. We also offered to provide written prescriptions for medications so that you could research cheaper options elsewhere.
5) Your concern: That our fax was "broken"
a. We have found over the years that fax is an unreliable method to communicate with pharmacies. We prefer to call in a prescription and or have you take a written prescription with you to the pharmacy. We informed you that a written prescription could be emailed to you or you could pick up in the office at any time. At the time of this conversation, you had the prescription in your email that you could have called and given to Costco. When you called to get the medication faxed over you were given the option to either bring in the prescription that you had been given or alternatively we would be happy to call in the medication. You asked us to call them and we responded that we would be happy to get that done for you by the end of the day.
In conclusion, it seems as though there was some miscommunication between you, your daughter, and our clinic. We hope that you have found a new veterinarian to take care of Daisy Mae as she is a wonderful dog that deserves the best care that you can afford. - Morgan H.Alpharetta, GA01622Sep 13, 2018
I love North Main Animal Hospital! I took my 11 year old Papillon in because he was experiencing hair loss due to a bacterial skin infection. This was the first time I've brought him to a vet other than for shots. Dr. Chad was very kind and explained everything to me. I appreciated his phenomenal customer service and his detailed instructions on how to give my dog the medication. The vet tech, Kalyn, was also very helpful. She was so personable, it's like she's known me for years! The clinic was also very clean and organized as well as conveniently located. I would highly recommend anyone to bring in their furry friend to North Main Animal Hospital! I will definetly be bring my pup to them in the future! Thank you Dr. Chad and staff!

great service, I brought my dog in here last minute to get updated with the right vaccines and such since i just moved here from Cali. They were super helpful in getting my old medical records and hooking me up with a daycare too. Really friendly folks, and the facility is nice too.
