Tops Friendly Markets

The place hase been clean and well stocked the last couple of years, I remember it being very run down as a kid. I shop here regularly as it's one of only two options in town and the only thing I can say negative about it is that there is often not a single register open. I don't seek social interaction as most people my age don't (20s) these days but I despise self check out machines with an admittedly unreasonable amount of passion. I would rather speak to a person for a minute and know a job is made and kept. Usually by a local Leroyan.

I enjoy tops. Always fully stocked and brand name products which is nice. Pretty good selection.

Tops unfriendly and uncooperative markets. One star is too generous. Place is a meat locker so dress warm - but worse - my mother and fellow Leroyan recently passed away. We needed to order comfort food for the family and contacted Tops for help. Unfriendly and outright unhelpful. We asked if they could pick a small order for us for pickup since I was coming in from out of town and didn't want the grieving to go out and shop. Refused. I asked if they could take a CC over the phone - They said they could but that they wouldn't. I asked it they could at least pull a meat and cheese tray together for pickup and they again said they couldn't. I asked if Save a Lot would be likely to help us (again I'm in from out of town) and they completely put them down and bad mouthed them. So - not only were they flat unwilling to help at all, they tried to shoot down the only other option in town. Unacceptable, unprofessional, unnecessary and unfriendly. Who runs that meat locker??

By the way - Save a Lot was more than happy to help us. The food was awesome, service great and they made a difficult day better and easier. It's nothing like those "friendly" folks at Tops say.

This is my hometown supermarket. It's definitely adequate, but no frills. Wegmans grocery stores are much better, though you'd have to go a few miles farther to get there from LeRoy - if you want find non-staple foods, go to Wegmans, though. The people who work here are all very friendly, especially the cashiers.

Tops, unfortunately, is not the top of the crop. There are many times I have shopped there and I can't find what I want. I am a Wegmans lover, but I only shop there when I am in the area. I work in the Rochester area, so when I get the chance I shop there. Tops also lacks friendly customer service. Many of the people who work there are not friendly, and they act like you are bothering them when you are in need of their assistance. I do not appreciate that. I often shop at Save-alot.
