We have moved to the area and have been using this office for just over a year now. Dr. Lisa has great people and dog skills. She always does a thorough physical and verbal exam. She has lots of knowledge and helps you understand what your pup needs. The staff is always attentive and friendly. For us and our dog, going to the vet is not a traumatic experience and we're grateful for that!

I have had nothing but positive experiences with Seymour Veterinary Hospital. My family has brought dogs here since I was little. I bring my dog and cat there now as an adult. Office staff is friendly and efficient. We typically deal with Dr. G and she is wonderful to both my animals - extremely kind with a great bedside manner for animals AND people.

After picking up my little dog from a pet hotel
He came home sick. Not knowing what he has, I called this Seymour vet hospital because I'm new to this area they refused to see him telling me the earliest appointment would be 2 weeks away. Don't know if my dog could wait but I know I can't wait that long.
Taking my dog back to NY where I had no trouble getting an appointment. Seymour Vet Hospital sorry you don't deserve that 1 star

Loved the doctors at Seymour Veterinary Hospital but the office manager needs some people skills. With 3 dogs and kids to contend she was not very accommodating when I I arrived 10 minutes late to my scheduled appt. wouldn't take my dog in and her office was empty. Makes you wonder why it was empty in the first place. Will be taking my dogs to another animal hospital for their care. Office just lost 3 very friendly patients. Maybe the owner should reconsider who manages their business.

My dog Bailey & I are so grateful for Dr. Brocklehurst & staff at Seymour Veterinarian Hospital. I've been taking her there for 7 years. She wags her tail when she sees everyone there. Everyone is so kind to us both.
She has had 4 if not 5 surgeries over the past 5 years, all done by Dr B. This past Wednesday Dr.B removed a mast cell tumor on Bailey's abdomen and the pathology came back with great results and clean margins. She's healing very well!! We are so happy with the care she receives from Seymour Vet Hospital!!

We took our pets here for several years and always had a very mediocre experience.

The environment itself isn't very welcoming. Outdated decor and upon entering- the staff never seems happy about life.

We had Dr. B on a couple of occasions and were never a fan of him. All business and very serious, which is fine, but not very personable for either us or our pets.
The female Vet, whose name I can't remember, we did actually like. She was knowledgable & had a few more "people skills".

We ended up switching vets because it was never a pleasant experience. We prefer environments that are more upbeat & welcoming. Not to mention, we were paying almost $40 a month for some cat food that was suggested to us (by the vet). Upon further inspection several months later, we noticed that it had byproducts in it! We switched our cat food and had much healthier, happier cats afterwards.

      Updated review

As promised, the "Meh" rating is staying, because they haven't maimed or killed any of my pets, but so help me God, the itch to change this rating to a 1 star is getting increasingly worse. This update is to clear up some confusion, which really, the new stuff I've discovered only makes me want my family to switch vets for our dogs all the more!
First off, the vet I apparently keep getting the pleasure of being stuck with is NOT Dr. Brocklehurst. Apparently, Dr. Brocklehurst is kind of like the Wizard of Oz and only shows up to do a surgery, like spaying or neutering, but otherwise he's never around. He's supposed to be a nice guy, but he really should be around more, maybe then he'll see how much of a hell hole his practice is!
The veterinarian to whom I referred in the last review I'll just refer to as Dr. Walter White, because he's so inept that he never introduced his sorry self, his name is not even listed on the sign (WTF?!), and he looks just like the guy from Breaking Bad. There's also a female veterinarian whose name I don't remember because I've never dealt with her.
This past visit was due to my dog named Miss Piggy (or just plain Piggy) having recurring back problems. My mom called, hoping that they could just renew her pain medication prescription, but of course the receptionist couldn't find any record of Piggy being there since she was spayed in 2009. Umm...again...WTF?! Piggy has been there within the past couple of years, because after all she's getting old and being part Chihuahua, she tends to hurt her back. Many moons ago, I used to be a medical record tech, and as much as I hate using this word, not being able to find a patient's record is UNACCEPTABLE! I've been fired over much less!
Speaking of the receptionist, apparently someone had a stern talking-to with her, because now instead of being nasty and snotty, she's saccharine sweet to everyone. I've seen acrylic nails that are more genuine than this receptionist. I tried to ignore and dismiss her as much as possible, but not only did she misgender my dog, but when I gently corrected her, she gave me buckets of attitude. Seriously....she pulls up my dog's record of being SPAYED and still refers to her as a "he". How does this woman even manage to dress herself in the morning?!?!!?!?!?! I'm sorry, I'll try to cool my jets and continue.
So, my mom and I meet with the vet, he listens to Piggy's heart and then says he would need to do further tests to figure out what exactly is wrong, but he agreed to write a couple of prescriptions for her and, to even my surprise, gleefully says, "If the pain medications don't work, we might have to make some 'quality of life' decisions when I see her again".
I repeat...WTF?!?!?!?! A dog has back pain and this guy wants to put her to sleep?! I simply cannot wrap my mind around this! I literally was sick to my stomach and wanted to hurl right in the exam room.
Literally, the only good thing I can say is that the veterinary assistants are nice people, and between the receptionist and Dr. Walter White, I don't know how they can tolerate working at this horrific place.
I'll end this review the same way as the last one: if you like mediocre treatment, come on down! If you have a heart and love your pet like most mentally stable people, please go to Watertown Animal Hospital or Dr. Pieper down in Stratford! If you have a cat, do yourself and your kitty the biggest favor in the world and go to Cat's Corner Vet. The only place that I've been that's worse than this place is Dr. Nanavati in Ansonia and for those who've lived in this area long enough, you'll know how bad that is!

I was out of town with my 8 year old dog that unfortunately started vomiting early in the AM and continued well into the afternoon. I called asking them to please see him as an emergency visit. I was turned away. Unbelievable.

They have a wonderful caring staff. I brought my dog to another hospital on State St. in New Haven when he was very sick and they told me my dog had cancer and brought out an application for financing to treat him. I got a second opinion from Dr. Steve and it was only an infection in his lymph nodes, that Dr. Steve treated successfully. That was 7 years ago and I have been bringing my two dogs there ever since. That dog is now 13 and I credit Dr. Steve for his long life!!! I have since recommended him to others that also were very pleased with the care given to their pets.
