When we moved here this became my local comics shop and it's been that since. (Though there wasn't much competition. The other place I'd been to didn't have the breadth of selection that I was used to.) This was the last physical place of business I went to before locking down for the pandemic. Quarantine sent me off the schedule of visiting the comic shop once a week like I had for most of my adult life, though it's been years since I've bought comics regularly, but it's always been nice to stop in when I can. Now this is my place for occasional gifts, and they usually have a great book I can give. Not much for back issues, as much as they try -- no place short of a warehouse could be -- but they've got other stuff like Magic TG cards and toys, so there's always something neat to find. The interior is stimulating and lots of stuff for comics and pop culture fans. And Glynis and Funky are great folks who run a friendly shop, so this is surely a gem in Fullerton.

Fantastic store. Really cool vibe and extremely helpful staff!

I'm new to comic book reading so the staff there helped me pick out a couple things to try. Can't wait to crack them open!

My new favorite comic book store. I had a great experience here today. I'm getting back into reading and had just previously visited another store that was very dissatisfying. Coming in here was the complete opposite and a breath of fresh air. The store is aesthetically great and what you'd hope a comic book store to be. I was warmly greeted immediately upon entering. Employee Nate gauged to see if I needed help finding anything and I let him know I was getting back into reading. I had asked about a specific run and he showed me exactly where to start. He then recommended a few others and was very personable and not overbearing. I left with a couple new books one of which Nate had recommended. This place was excellent and I will definitely be coming back. If you're looking for a good local comics store, this is the one!

Used to be my favorite store. I respect small business owners, so I do empathize that times are tough, but I've never experienced this before so a little shocked. Found a comic that was priced, and before checking out, the store owner believes it to be undervalued, so decided to increase the price.

Maybe just me, but it didn't sit right with me. Again, love the workers there, but do we have to maximize the profits all the time? If you've priced it, I think you should honor it...

Super dope place. All of the employees as well as the manager are very nice and welcoming. I've been coming here for months and I've never had a bad visit. There's lot of variety at this comic store and I can't wait to start walking here again after school

      Updated review

Friendly/helpful staff, but pricing is way out of whack.

First and foremost: I have never had a negative experience with the staff or the owner. They have always been absolutely lovely to deal with. I appreciate them and what they do for the area (outreach to local schools to generate interest in reading comics books), the store is generally well organized, and I maintained a pull-list with them for several years. My main complaint and why I hardly ever shop there anymore is...

      THE PRICING

It's standard practice in comic book stores (at least the comic stores that I've shopped at in 30+ years of collecting in Orange and LA Counties) to reduce the prices of back issues (except for certain rarities). And, for a long time, Comic Book Hideout prices their back issues accordingly. On my last few visits, however, I noticed the back issues were all marked UP from their original cover value. In addition to their back issues, I also found that their variant covers on new books are all marked up well beyond what you might see in other shops. Also, they price B Covers (1:1) the same way they would price Ratiod Variant covers, which is doubly outrageous.

My real problem with this kind of pricing isn't that I'm being gouged. There are better prices on EBAY, not to mention at literally every other comic shop in the area, so it's not like I'm forced to shop there. Rather, what really bothers me, is that people who don't know much about buying comic books are being taken advantage of.

I appreciate that times are tough and, in the past, this shop showed a lot of creativity in reaching out to the community to get people in the doors. I wish they would have kept operating in that spirit instead of preying on the ignorance of "comic newbies".

It breaks my heart to see what was such a promising business and exciting presence in the community devolve into a swindle. But that's what it is and it would be irresponsible of me to sit by watching it happen and not say anything.

I hope they see the light and turn things around. But they're not the only game in town so, to those interested in getting into comic books I say: go for it! Just take your business elsewhere.

PS: one last time, the people who work in the shop are wonderful and every interaction has been a good one.

This place is great! They have the usual comic books as well as Pokémon cards that my son loves! They sell them in packs and individually. They have other card games as well like Magic. They have game nights too.

absolutely love love love coming here. The staff is always so welcoming and really make you feel at home. And the variety of comic books they have is absolutely amazing. 10/10 recommend! And all there comics are at reasonable price. I have gone to many other comic stores and always come back to this one. Others are always so expensive.
