All Saints Parish

Some may say its improper to do a yelp review on a church. But for someone relatively new to Portland, it takes a while to find the right Church. So I think I am helping others with this review.

Our closest Catholic Church is All Saints. Its a beautiful church with a good choir. And the people there all seem very friendly. You get the impression that its a family church for all of the children you see. We like that.

But here is the problem. When we go to mass we want to come away with a couple things. One is a connection to our faith and the other are thoughts as to how we are living our lives and what we need to change.

We went there in 2012 and they had a priest who stuttered very badly. It was nearly impossible to get anything out of that mass. We felt badly for the priest and we did stay for the whole mass. But I think that the priest needs to be a good communicator. Last weekend we went and another priest seemed to run through the mass in a monotonous tone and pace that made you want to fall asleep. And the sermon had no meaningful substance to it. Both my wife and I came away with an empty feeling.

I should note that the regular priest was in India and would be back later. So we will try again.

I love this school. Great community. They have an amazing education with great activities during the day. Plus, they go to mass every Wednesday.
