Cottman Transmission and Total Auto Care

Traveling from North Carolina to Philadelphia... Car emergency...piece holding my exhaust pipe broke...making it drag with the smell of burning rubber Kate and the folks at Cottman Transmission... Took us right in... My entire . the car immediately and we were back on the road in leas than an hr! Make sure you check them out...they were truly a blessing!

READ BEFORE TAKING YOUR VEHICLE HERE: 2002 Dodge Dakota overheating. Client states please exchange the radiator. Business gives general quote including parts price and labor. Technician exchanges the radiator. Not this time, Cottman performs a coolant pressure test, finds no leaks, and presumes radiator is fine because it's not leaking. Sees condenser pulled off to the side and charges to reinstall it(138$ ish total - 2 screws.) Charging to do something that's not going to fix the client original concern. When in all reality a technician has already diagnosed the radiator to be clogged yet doesn't have time to replace it for said client. Could've been a easy couple hundred for a shop, and a couple hours for their hardworking techs but the host didn't stay in the phone long enough for the client to explain properly.

Due ac service. It's an older model truck, They got it right in a few hours and I was good to go.

Just bought a new rebuild engine and got it in the truck. Notice small oil leaks by the bell housing on my truck. Put some die in the oil and took some pictures of the leak and sent it to company. Company said it looked like a rear main seal leak. I was NOT going to go through that myself so I had no idea who to call or trust with my truck. I remember the name Cottomman transmission so I called to see if they even did that type of work. When I called I spoke to Katie. She was amazing! So polite and kind but also very knowledgeable, and a great sense of humor. She's treated me with respect and actually seems concerned for me and my situation. She said I could call around and get quotes from others but I said no I really appreciate you so I'm going to use y'all. Then Kevin comes into the picture and kindly shows me where other leaks where as well. Then he gives me his professional advice on what he would do which was to fix something myself first and then we can see if the leaks stop which would save me a lot of money. He didn't just fix it and say pay up. He was genuinely looking out for my best interest. Come on! You know how hard it is to find that these days.... This team at Cottonman's are amazing. I will recommend them to anyone, even my own family which is saying a lot. Thank you guys so much for really really helping me out and taking care of me. Your the best. By the way this was the Norfolk location.

Best place to take your car for any auto repair, maintenance, tires, etc. They do it all and at a great price too, very fair and professional. They are the transmission experts!

Have been to this shop several times and every single time they have been professional, quick and accurate in diagnosing the issue and swift in fixing it and at a very reasonable price. Typically you expect auto repairs to cost a fair bit but resolving several air conditioning issues has been extremely reasonable. They never even charged me for diagnosing what the issue was. I found the staff who worked there to be knowledgeable and diligent in getting my car fixed. It's always tough to find a competent and reasonable mechanic but I would highly recommend this shop for your auto repairs.

The owner at Cottman Norfolk, Cindy, refuses to honor a warranty on a transmission. She initially agreed to partial payment, but demanded my girlfriend drive two hours to a transmission mechanic of her choice. She then demanded video proof of repairs completed, and delayed payment for weeks while she allegedly had her mechanic review the video. Following that, she stated she had never received a copy of the invoice for repairs. She now claims that the warranty sold was not a "nationwide" warranty, and has refused to pay on that basis. Apparently, she thinks that if you drive your car outside of Norfolk, it voids the warranty. She refuses to provide any written terms that would defend this, obviously, and the warranty on the invoice states that it is good for 1 year or 12,000 miles.
Terrible business. Avoid at all costs.

I was there today. They are so very fast and good services. They gave you free drink while you waiting. I got free clean up the windows shield. But I was confused a little bit why they don't give me a document or any paper that show you what they did with your car. If they have it would be better, because you can see what they did with your car.

I would love to go back there again

I was able to drop the jeep off that day and within a few hours was told the problem and the estimated cost. I consulted with a mechanic family member who said it was a very fair price. I was told it would be completed that day, but I never received a call telling me it was ready or not. It wasn't a big deal for us, but might make arrangements for other families more challenging. The next day the work was complete and they were willing to let us pick the car up after hours even though we ended up not needed to do so. We are very happy with the work, the timeliness of drop off and pick up and the price for the job completed. I would recommend them to anyone needing car repair.
