The restaurant has a nice view of Lake Claiborne which was the best part of the dining experience. The catfish was ok but had a fairly strong fishy taste because the filets had not been properly trimmed before cooking. The initial service for our table of six was prompt. When we asked for additional items, we waited approximately 15 minutes before the waiter came back and informed us he was still waiting on the items from the kitchen. We just ended up canceling the additional food since we had waited so long.

Came here for dinner, the environment is super friendly, great waitstaff and head of the house! Beautiful view of the lake, nice to look at while we waited for the rest of our party. I had the steak which came out surprisingly bland, there did not seem to be one bit of seasoning on it and a good portion of the steak was just fat, though I will say the steak was cooked perfectly, the way I had asked! My boyfriend says he too was very surprised by the outcome of the steak as he has had it before and it was actually good, so we aren't too sure what was going on. On top of that, the fries that I had asked for were also unseasoned, cooked perfectly, but bland. I did have some of the catfish and it was okay, not the best, but not the worst, could just use some seasoning in the batter. The bean soup was great, but I think the one thing that they do absolutely right here is their hushpuppies. Super good hushpuppies! It is nice that they only have two things to offer, steak or catfish, makes it a lot easier to choose from! They do have desserts as well. Overall, everything was just really under seasoned or not seasoned at all, but the atmosphere is amazing. So, if you want to just eat steak and catfish in the middle of nowhere then this is the place for you, but just depending on your palate this may or may not be the place for you as well. This place is for sure those "either you love it or you hate it" type of establishment. They do have a really cool graphic T-shirt you can purchase.

Catfish had no fishy taste and was the perfect texture! Best hush puppies I have ever eaten and worked perfectly in the bean soup. Come here every time I'm at the lake and it never fails to deliver the best service and food, love the environment and such a beautiful view too!

Haven't eaten here in years. But, have been all over the country and when back, always in hurry squeezing in all the family visits possible. However, so excited to say I am moving back with my husband and was bragging on the fish/steak and everything else. Never had a bad experience and camping out there and running into restaurant was amazing. Even when we would drive in from W/Monroe I couldn't wait to get there- wished I was only going back to camp and sleep than driving back to W/Monroe due to being as stuffed as a thanksgiving turkey. So glad to see y'all are still open and more than just Saturday, as I believe many many moons ago it was. Looking forward to bringing my husband with me as I have spoken of it often.

This is not someplace you are likely to find by accident, but it is worth the effort. Sitting overlooking Lake Claiborne near Homer, LA, Port-au-Prince has the ultimate in basic menus: You can order the fried catfish, or you can order the steaks. While fried catfish places are a dime a dozen in the mid-south, Port-au-Prince's catfish is something special. Really, this is the only catfish I have ever had that tastes like the fish fries my family would have when I was a kid. Corn meal coated, salted perfectly, fried to golden brown but not overcooked. The sides include cole slaw, which tastes homemade; french fries; which taste homemade; pickles and pickled peppers; onion slices; and hush puppies, which taste homemade. See a trend here? It is like going to your uncle's house, if your uncle could fit 100 people in a dining room that has large pane windows affording a view of the lake for most of the tables. I have had the steak, tastes great, tastes like my father use to make them. But have the catfish.
Only open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. No alcohol.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
