Do not waste your time with this company. It took 3 days of calling just to get an appointment. When I told them my window company recommended them they finally agreed to come out and give me an estimate and said I should have told them that at the beginning and they would have called me back. I was taken aback by this admission but nonetheless went ahead and scheduled the appointment. The sales rep was very knowledgable and friendly when he came out. We both agreed on a date that was a reasonable amount of time to supply a quote. I never heard back and after several texts and phone calls was told in an email that "at this time we will have to decline your request for a quote." I assumed they felt I was being a pesky female because I followed up. I did inquire as to why and was told they were too busy, backed up and couldn't please me because I had called their office. Due to their aggressive behavior and failure to manage expectations, I want to warn others. Ultimately, you don't want someone like that doing work at your home anyway.

Big D recently installed 3 windows and while doing so a blind was broken. The installer said that after merely looking at the blind it broke. The sales person from big d said they usually do not touch the blinds. Nevertheless the blind was broken and $40 was taken off of the bill. So now I have to be the one to go out and purchase a new blind. Shouldn't a consumer and customer expect a company contracted to make repairs to leave the property in the same or better condition. Of course they did not think so and refused to actually replace the blind. Good job. Especially after I purchase 3 windows and a sliding door as well as recommend a neighbor to get a sliding door, which they did. I'd recommend you steer clear of Big D!!!

I highly recommend Big D for your home's windows and front door. They have a great team that has a tremendous amount of experience. Every person that I came in contact with was extremely helpful and patient during the entire process. I also love that they're a local company with almost 100 years in Jax.

Henry, the installer is great. That's about it. Katrin, at the office, is unprofessional, and unhelpful. She screwed up my order, and was unapologetic. Ignored several emails regarding another order. Also, the windows do not come with ANY warranty at all. Was told the company they ordered from "went out of business" and was told there was NO warranty and there was nothing that could be done about it. I am a realtor and recommend several companies to my customers/clients. I will not recommend these people.

I drove across town after asking and being assured by two different employees at Big D that they had a large display of entry doors in their show room. I explained that I was a visual person and really need to see a door before potentially paying thousands of dollars to purchase one.

However, when I arrived, I found only two doors displayed in their showroom. When a sales associate finally came out to assist me, I asked him why they told me they had a large display of doors when in reality there were only two doors displayed and he said, "We have a huge selection of doors. We have lots of books with photos of doors to choose from!" To top it off, the salesman seemed far more interested in getting to lunch than he did with helping me to find a door. He was also EXTREMELY rude and condescending in speaking to me. I not only left the store without one single quote, but after asking him to provide a quote for one door and then finding another one of interest as he wrote down the information and asking for an additional quote, he said in an irritated manner, "What, you don't want a quote on this other door now?!" I asked him if he was only able to give one quote per customer and he said no, but he'd have to get them to me the next day. It's been three days now and still no quote...

In the mean time, I went to Home Depot, Lowe's and Dream Doors over the weekend and the sales associates at each location was extremely helpful, pleasant and professional. Each sales associate gave me multiple quotes on the spot (from a computer), and I ended up purchasing an entry door and two sidelights. I'm not sure if I paid more than I would have paid at Big D, (since I never received a quote), but I can say that I was treated in a respectful and professional manner at each of those locations and that means just as much to me as price. I would NEVER buy a door from Big D Building Center and I would never recommend them to anyone I know.
