Kona Air Conditioning

Simply an amazing company. Katie, who runs the front end of the company, is incredibly friendly and FAST. Like OMG. Given how short-handed everyone is these days: How in the world was she and Desmond able to get their crew over here so soon to do our project (replace a dead mini split with a 3-pronged system). But they did it.

And they came in, right on time as promised, and did all the work as explained, left our home absolutely SPOTLESS (I mean, really, it was cleaner than it was before!), and then left us with a brand-spanking new air-conditioner system in our home. It was all in one day (again, as promised).

So many people show up late, or leave half-way through a project and return days later, to finish without so much as an excuse.

Not these guys. They were rock solid, reliable, dependable, responsible.

And the icing on the cake: They gave us the best bid on the job.

Loved these guys. Absolutely not one negative thing to say about them.

I am very impressed with this company. Our air conditioner went out in the late afternoon on a Friday. When I called, I totally expected them to tell me they wouldn't be able to come out until Monday. I was surprised and pleased when they told me their guy could be out within the hour. He came out, found the problem and was able to replace the part the first thing the next morning. We have used this company a few times before to clean out the clogged drainage tube and they are always fast, professional, and friendly. They have never tried to upsell us into unnecessary service and I highly recommend them for any air conditioning service

Mike is wonderfully knowledgeable and skilled. He installed new split units at a very fair price, and partially repaired an existing older unit.

At first he was extremely responsive and came out on a moment's notice to evaluate a problem and make small repairs. Lately however, scheduling has become a complete nightmare. Mike won't give a firm date to come out and finish the repairs, and then doesn't respond to emails or texts for weeks on end. I suspect he's overextended and doesn't have enough staff. But still, that's no way to keep customers cool. I realize that a small residential job doesn't compare with commercial work he might have going, but that's still not an excuse to blow off your client and not give a firm commitment.

My Air conditioning went out on a Saturday night, we were all so hot by the morning and I had to try to call someone out to fix it on a Sunday.

I called 3 different places, the only one who answered was Mike from Kona Air Conditioning.

He was so professional and friendly, he knew it was around 83 degrees and humid, and he said he would be out within the hour!! On a Sunday!

I cannot tell you in words how much I appreciated that he came out so soon,

And he fixed it within the hour!! :)

Called to ask about window unit AC installation. This company does not install window AC units, which is fine, he suggested calling a handyman. I asked if he had a recommendation for a handyman and any idea of cost and he said no and just hung up on me. Poor attitude and no willingness to help answer a simple question. Not the Aloha spirit.

We recently needed to replace our entire central air conditioning system. Made a few calls, checked online and found Kona Air Conditioning to have the most 'positive comments, highest rating and 'good' reviews overall. Called their office and spoke to Olga, once she knew our situation she advised Mike would contact us shortly, he responded right away, discuss our needs and offered several options. Mike was very knowledgeable and provided us with the best solution and estimate the same day. We scheduled the work, Mike and his crew ( James & Alex ) arrived that morning with all the new equipment and ready to go to work! They took extra care in protecting our flooring / carpet and furniture and we're very professional throughout the entire project. Would highly recommend Kona Air Conditioning for all your HVAC needs. they will do the job right the first time!!

After being away on vacation for two weeks we came home to hot, humid and AC not working. After doing my own diagnosis but realizing getting a professional opinion would be the smart move, I called Kona AC. The info on the web said they were closed but when I called, Mike answered. He said he would be at my condo in under and hour. True to his word, he arrived in less time than expected and within 5 min had confirmed my suspicions. A few minutes after that he was done. New capacitor installed and the unit was blowing cold air. Mike was incredibly professional and that's really all you could ever want from a contractor. If you need AC service I highly recommend Kona AC. When I need to install a new system I know for certain these guys will be the first ones I call. Mahalo.

I had to arrange our AC repair/replace in HI from our home in CA. I checked with a few companies but Steve at Kona AC was the most responsive. He went by and checked our AC. Then he made recommendations with explanations. After going with Kona the work was done on time and for the agreed upon amount. Very professional.

From start to finish Mike and his team were over the top excellent. I purchased top of the line Mitsubishi units and they are a complete game changer for quality of life. If I could give 10 stars I would. Thank you Mike and TEAM!!
