What goes perfectly with chirping birds and a gorgeous morning? Amazing, warm welcomes, delicious treats, great coffee and nitty gritty blues including a rendition of Jimi Hendrix doing Dylan's "Like A Rolling Stone" I have never heard before. Oh how stopping here made me so happy and gave me all those lucky to be alive feels bright and early one morn'. I have no idea how I missed this sweet spot, but certainly won't again.
Upon entering on my first visit, I had the pleasure of meeting the owner Lady Gene herself. She was so wonderful and gave me the proper tour of the place. Consignment section, cafe tables with flat screen on mute, benches out front for coffee and convo on a nice day, telephone booth with local business flyers, and a place to charge your phone. Lady Gene explained the art to me also. From hand carved African tables to silk screened pillows, bird mobiles and a project I loved from a local photographer called "I Choose Cheltenham" showcasing photographs which depict the diversity of this fabulous community.
There's definitely something here for everyone....a nice variety of fresh pressed juices and juice cleanses in mason jars which if you return you'll receive $1 off each. Stacked breakfast sammies on brioche, and drool pastries including muffins, biscotti, scones and croissants. Caffeinated beverage of all kinds including a great variety of organic loose teas. Healthy sammies, salads, soups and daily specials too.
I couldn't decide on a beverage but wanted something cold, lower cal, and dairy free so the lovely young girl behind the counter mixed me up an absolutely delicious low sugar apple pie iced almond milk latte made just for me! Don't be afraid to ask for something even if you don't see it listed! The staff was so helpful!
I also while staring at the baked goods asked if they by chance had anything vegan because I didn't see any signs leading me to believe they did, but everything looked so delish. She said yes! Those delectable looking muffins with the gluten free sign were indeed vegan also! She informed me they were made by local bakery Clara's Groovy Delicious which was featured on the 'Spring Bake-Off Challenge' on The Food Network! Torn between the dark chocolate chunk espresso or the chocolate banana, I decided on the latter because I knew I would be bringing most of it to the kiddos and well, no espresso for them! She heated it up for me and it was absolutely amazing! The fam couldn't tell it was vegan when they tasted the rest of it! Sooooo good! I'll be back to try the other kind soon!
If I lived nearby I would be here pretty often and am so happy to have found it! I highly recommend a visit here and it feels so great supporting local women-run, wholesome businesses who also support all sorts of other local companies and artists. Great sense of community here! Love it!
*There's an entire lot behind the building you can access by entering on Glenside Ave. There's also a back entrance there as well.Helpful 17Thanks 0Love this 22Oh no 0 - Jan 2, 2019
Super cute and cozy cafe with lots of delicious options to choose from. We had The Real Deal breakfast sandwich which was delicious. Good choice to go with the arugula.
My son had some purple healthy juice that was refreshing and delightful. I had a chai tea latte which was perfectly made.
A MUST in the neighborhood! I'll definitely be back ;)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Marcel F.Philadelphia, PA190209Jul 13, 2018

As a coffee shop voyager I will travel near and far for the great coffee shop experience. I have to say The Real Marketplace is a must visit coffee shop! Greeted with hospitality, positive energy and a sense of community upon walking in the building I met Lady Gene the owner who gave me a lovely tour of the consignment shop. Dressed very sharply her kind demeanor and grace just added to the coffee shop experience. The consignment shop sells art from locals, the coffee was excellent (brewed to perfection) and did I mention wifi connection is available. This is a great place to work, shop, socialize and enjoy a great cup of coffee. Try the mint mocha it's divine!

This place serves a big need in the area - good coffee and some light food. They are right by the train station and open early (just like Elkins Perk, who woulda thunk it?).
The proprietors are very nice people; they customize your order the way you want it and they have a decent bit of much better then Starbucks foods (Starbucks food is made in a factory and shipped to the stores wrapped in those nice plastic and cellophane wrappers - just like the food at 7-11 and other convenience stores!)
Here is the scoop, as it were. The coffee is ok, about as good as Starbucks, not quite as good as Elkins Perk, BUT this place isn't a franchise, it isn't a chain. The owners put their own money into the place and they are learning as they go. I'm sure that in time the place will work out kinks like limited seating, inefficient use of space, and a line of snacks right out of a convenience store.
The baked and prepared foods are good. The location is good if you are close by, not good if you live in Delaware county. The coffee is good on an absolute scale, but on a comparative scale with the best places in the Philly area it's just ok.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nicole J.SC, SC23148Jun 20, 2017

Thanks goodness that the train station finally has a quality local coffee shop. I got a latte with a shot of brown sugar spice, and a banana-chocolate chip muffin. The latte is excellent with just the right amount of flavor and a healthy dose of caffeine. The muffin was heated and overflowed with chocolate chips, which was a pleasant surprise. The owner was very friendly. She asked if it was my first time in the shop and gave me an overview of the offerings.Very pleased and really want to go back for the juices and sandwiches!
