I wouldn't say there's anything special about this place. It's not bad and I have no problems going there if I was in the mood for a sandwich or if someone else wanted to go, but it's not my favorite place. I like the tomato soup - it is a little spicy so it has a unique taste that might have to be acquired. I've had the turkey and tuna sandwich, which are the sandwiches I like to stick to. I personally don't like the cookies at all - sugar overdose to the max. I started cringing more and more with each bite. They are actually two cookies with a filling in between them which makes it too overwhelming for me. If I wanted a cookie like that, I would just go to the supermarket and get some oreos. Given the choice, I would rather go to the Cosi on the other side of the street for food. However, if you want better service and way nicer people, stay with 'wichcraft.

Yes the place is pricy for what it is, but the food is delicious and coming here once in a while is worth it.
The interior is pretty nice, is a large space, and has plenty of seating.
You order in the front and get a number to put at your table, and they bring you the food.
The pork cuban sandwich is ridiculously delicious. Probably my favorite sandwich here.
Tons of flavor, good amount of pork and good bread
The steak sandwich is my other favorite here, steak is tender and flavorful
Breakfast sandwiches on the croissant are so good.
Overall its a worthwhile spot to grab your coffee and get your sandwich fix.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - AlmaGrace S.Queens, NY368228200Jun 24, 2011
Coffee wasnt that great.
Staff were not that attentive to take orders or even to hear them out.
Period.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Geoff L.San Francisco, CA236190630Jun 29, 2008
Wow, that was a delicious and satisfying sandwich. I got the meat loaf. It came with bacon, cheddar, and a tasty tomato relish. I got the grain mustard potato salad which was just ok, it was spiced well and had capers. I got a bottled soda, it ended up being $14.
The atmosphere was great. Clean walls with cool pictures, 2 guys playing acoustic guitar and muted trumpet, and clean tables to sit at. This is a great place for lunch, I want to try at least 1 more of their sandwiches.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 29, 2010
I'd probably give the marinated eggplant sandwich five stars alone. It's rich in flavor, unique, and surprisingly filling.
On the flipside, I feel like I can only give 'wichcraft itself three stars because the restaurant itself is nothing special. There's little effort put into its decor, and the chairs, in my opinion, are uncomfortable. Plus, it's hard to have a group of more than two people unless you get an end table, but then the third person is sitting where a lot of people walk by.
I must say, however, the staff at 'wichcraft are some of the smile-iest I've seen in the East Village. I'll have to try another sandwich here and reevaluate.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sara D.Manhattan, NY5151771053Aug 23, 2011
The service is friendly and energetic! Clean space and free wifi! Woohoo! The zucchini panini is tasty. The passion fruit iced tea is good and quite refreshing!
Great space and ample amount of tables. Good for lunch, studying, work, etc.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lisa K.Richmond, VA3113320Nov 21, 2009
Oh, Tom Colicchio, I expected so much more from you.
My chicken salad was fine, but for $9 a sandwich should be much better than just fine. It was lacking mayo and large chunks of chicken, and it was kind of small. I did like the tomato spread they used and the bread was delicious--but still, $9!
My friend had the half chicken salad sandwich and cup of split pea soup. He was similarly underwhelmed by the sandwich, but had raves for the soup. If I liked split pea, I would've tried it, but I don't, so you'll have to take his word for it.
I don't see myself coming back here very often, since it's in a neighborhood full of food options.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Gracie T.Manhattan, NY34758Feb 27, 2015
I'm a big fan of Top Chef so I decided to go to Tom Colicchio's "wichcraft and see what it is about.
Place with a famous owner like this, you don't expect things to be cheap. I ordered the PB&J sandwich and a cappuccino. I was utterly disappointed. For a $5.05 PB&J sandwich, the bread didn't taste fresh. The edges were hard and stale. The peanut butter and jelly was okay, nothing amazing. The bread has ruined everything anyway. I thought the ones you get from the street cart for $1.25 were wayyy better, at least the bread was fresh.
So I thought I can flush down the stale hard bread with the cappuccino. Turns out, the coffee was bad too. I kinda just downed the whole darn thing in one go just so that I could get rid of it.
Really disappointed :( :( :(Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Xavier R.Astoria, NY1158166Dec 7, 2014
The tea was excellent but my girlfriend and I were creeped out by an employee who was walking back and forth. He would stop by our table and stare at us for long periods of time. We left as soon as we were done because of the level of discomfort he gave us. Plus there was a homeless woman passed out on a table the entire time maybe the weird employee should have been less concerned with us and done something about the homeless person who smelled quite bad.

First ever visit to a 'witchcraft, I stopped by here for lunch. The place was busy so good indicator, so I thought.
The prices are higher than local comparable places like Pret A Manger, Fresh & Co, etc. I ordered the roasted turkey sandwich and a cinnamon roll. The sandwich was oddly a bit too sweet from the relish/aioli they used but worse was that only 2 tiny slivers of "unripened" avocado. Unripe avocado is flavorless and hard: gross.
The cinnamon roll: the sugar coated top was good but the rest of it was mushy and not sweet enough.
This place is not a good value for the price and just a bug disappointment. If this place is really owned by that Top Chef judge then he needs to pack his knives and go!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
