Surratts-Clinton Branch Library

We love the story times twice a week. My daughter hasn't started daycare or pre school yet so it's a fun way to get her social and in an organized group setting! The reading team is soo energetic and they always have fun trinkets they make for the kids.

It's also very bright and clean and I believe it was just remodeled.

Horribly maintained facility. It is always dusty and no one working there seems to care. The so called quirt room has a crumpled sign that fell off the wall moths ago that no one cares to report so people go in and talk in full voice on their phones and leave food trash that sits there for days.

The workers slam books onto the shelves in the store room adjacent to the quiet room so it sounds like someone is fighting next door if you are in the quiet room. No rules - like the old one about being quiet - are enforced in the building, People do whatever they want while disrespecting those of us who are trying to quietly use the facilities.

As a resident and tax payer, I am appalled when I see this dump and then I go to the libraries in the next county and all the libraries are so much better and well maintained. I have reported this location to the director more than once but she only offers excuses and arguments.

This library seems to be undergoing some changes...remodeling. I frequent libraries, but this one I could not find any of my books. Especially the fiction novels. I noticed that some of the romance novels are intertwined with regular fiction...although they have their own section. The librarians were nice and helpful...and attempted to find what I was looking for. But they had to request the material from another library.

Will I frequent this one? Probably so...it's very close to where I work and has a nice selection. Hopefully the renovation will be completed soon...well I'm assuming they are renovating.

Atmosphere is cool. It smells inside which I think the county should correct but I mean it's a library you go there to check out books and or read them and use the computer.
