The area is in need of a warm and friendly place that serves excellent food. A place where you know you can bring the family, relax, enjoy evening entertainment and be affordable for a return visit. Since the restaurant is located in close proximity to several high schools, the restaurant is decorated in school colors and sports paraphernalia. The restaurant is a perfect place for a small meeting in the platform area or for a large group in the banquet room. The restaurant is equipped with Wi-Fi access to accommodate the working man or just to relax on a lap top computer. The menu accommodates all your dining needs. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served daily. Appetizers, desserts, cappuccino, or bar drinks are all on the list for a dining experience. Pricing is very reasonable along with daily lunch and dinner specials. The strategy of Zalenski Family Eatery and Pub is to give a perception of higher value than its competitors through our food, service, and entertainment. Zalenski was voted "Best Home Cooking" and "Best Karaoke" by the readers of The Herald Star newspaper.

Horrible everything. Me and my hubby decided to go here while away from the kids. Its took 10 minutes to get sat. We looked around and noticed there was missing Tiles in the ceiling were missing and there was bug traps in the ceiling. The waitress was so mea to us we barely got to order when then she dropped all our food. The food was awful. It was undercooked and raw. It took an hour to get to our Food zero out of 10 don't recommend.

Great "home cooking". Love the menu and always keep their pierogis in my freezer. Michelle makes our dining experience fun and relaxing.

This place was definitely a nice surprise. Huge selection of beers and wine. Great food menu. Desserts are impeccable. You will not be disappointed with this place. Something for everyone.

Open during covid for lunch (I think for breakfast & dinner too).
Burgers are the BEST! I'm only in town a couple times a year for work and they're always consistent quality.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Adrian M.Serra Mesa, San Diego, CA09Jan 21, 2021
I'm new to the area. Heard good things about this place. Heath served up drinks and food. Great atmosphere, food, and customer service. I ordered the Pittsburgh Hot Italian with fries. Delicious!! Definitely recommend checking this place out.

The strongest thing I can say about Zalenski's is that the food is predicatable and consistent. You won't get a gourmet meal here, but it is a good place to go when you have a group. They have a good selection on the menu, so there is something for every taste.
The decor definitely needs updating. It feels warehouse-like, with little intimacy but if you go in expecting bar food in a similar enviroment, you will be fine.
I will eat here again when in the area, but wouldn't go out of my way to do so. (I will definitely avoid it on karaoke night, though. There is nothing worse than eating to the background of a drunk cowboy trying to sing some George Jones)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jason W.Enterprise, AL2101931156Nov 25, 2017
Stuck in a village of residential neighborhood and right off of OH43 is a grand ole restaurant and bar in Steubenville. At first glance the place has stood there for decades and for such a place, parking is small. I arrived on Thanksgiving Day at closing time however, the owner still had the buffet up and allowed another driver and me to enter. A very nice gesture since we were the only customers there. The buffet was huge with five different meats, two bread tables, a salad bar with shrimp and sauce and vegetable and soup as well, all cooked homestyle, and traditional pies and cakes for desert. The service from the staff was extraordinary as we were checked regularly for any needs. Once stuffed with thanksgiving dinner, we headed to the bar for an after dinner drink or two which were created with the perfect combination of beverage choice, no watered down or over sweetened drinks. I really enjoyed the whole experience. The place was a bit weathered however, with such great food and service I will return again. A five star restaurant got four for lack of proper maintenance. I enjoyed the best Thanksgiving dinner ever on the road at Zalenski's family eatery and tavern

Really excited to go to Zalenskis being that it's a local restaurant. With the 4 1/2 stars we made a date to go. Extremely disappointed! The wings were swimming in grease, the pierogis were hard and soggy at the same time, the zucchini strips were so soggy they couldn't be picked up. So sad...we were really wanting to have a good meal.

My daughter wanted wings from Zalenski's, and it had been a while since we went there (because our service was terrible last time), so despite my reservations, I picked up wings for carryout tonight. Even though the person I spoke to read back my order to me, when I got home I found that it was completely wrong. Boneless instead of bone in wings, and chicken instead of a bacon cheeseburger. The fries were missing as well. And when I called to voice a complaint, the manager I spoke to used the "the employee is new" excuse. The options he offered were not satisfactory-either I drive back so they can remake my order, or they will comp my next order. I have little confidence in them getting an order right, and I have no desire to return. I supposed my $25 going down the drain is a lesson learned. I will not be returning.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Apr 28, 2017Previous reviewJust returned home from dinner at Zalenski's. It was uneven, at best. Our server was Mary, who was pleasant but hesitant. It was clear that she was new and that's fine. She took our drink order, gave us menus and brought our drinks. We had asked for a few minutes to decide, and that turned into a 15 minute wait. While we weren't in a hurry and the restaurant wasn't busy, it was well beyond the time we needed. And it was a bit frustrating because I could see that she was talking with the other servers and I heard "Oh my gosh!" when she realized how long we had waited. When she did finally approach our table to take our order, she said nothing. Not an apology or even a "ready to order?".
My companion ordered wings and fries, and I ordered the flank steak sandwich that was a special. Mary asked if I would like a refill on my drink, and I did. She returned with a drink, but it was not what I had been drinking. And she seemed confused and returned to ask me what sandwich I had ordered. I was more than willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. We've all been there before, being new in a job.
Our food, once served, again was uneven. The flank steak sandwich was very good. My companion's wings, however, were drowning in butter. It actually congealed at the bottom of the paper lining the basket they came in. Not good. Especially for a place known for its wings.
Mary finally asked if I'd like the bill, and after another delay, I got it. I left, feeling pretty dissatisfied with the experience in general. But this is what sticks in my mind. As I said before, everyone is new at some point. But I think it's so important to be well trained. What I saw tonight is someone who wasn't well trained, and it showed. And because of that, it reflects poorly on the restaurant and the meal there. So, in conclusion, not the worst meal I've had, but certainly not the best either. - Rachel L.Kent, OH0108Mar 22, 2019
Beer selection was nice but the food was really awful. They got many of the orders with our party completely wrong and forgot to bring sides others had ordered. I got the haluski and my husband got a burger. Neither of us finished our food which is highly unusual. Some of the worst food I have eaten in a while.
