This restaurant had an impressive menu with lots of good options. I ordered the maple bourbon glazed salmon and it was not as good as I was expecting, it a little dry so I wish that there was some extra sauce on it. It came with sweet potatoes, chard, wild rice and walnuts. I also ordered the blueberry flatbread and that was amazing, goat cheese, blackberries, blueberries and honey.
I was able to find street parking fairly easy outside of this restaurant. The service was pretty slow on a Saturday night but I think they were just really busy.

I don't remember the name of the drink that I had, nor do I remember the name of the bartender (she was a she), but both were real good. The fact that I had three drinks might have a little to do with the fact that I don't recall those details. My husband and I were there with our realtor and we were celebrating the sale of our home. We sat at the bar in the new addition and we really enjoyed ourselves. Although I can't remember the name of my fruity drink I DO recall where it was located on the menu so I WILL be able to order it again. I really did like the new addition, hence the review. We have since moved but we aren't too far away, so we can go there on occasion. I WILL have that drink again......just maybe not as many at a time!

Apr 15, 2021Previous reviewFeeling the need to get out of the house during the pandemic, my husband and I decided on this place because of the outside dining they offer. The picture of a drink that my friend posted online the night before might have factored into that decision as well. My friend posted a picture of the Salted Caramel Mocha that she had and I just knew I had to have one as well. Sadly (for me anyway) it wasn't as good as it looked. After I ordered the drink I read the description and found that it has Carolan's in it. I don't like Carolan's. I don't think my husband really cared for it either, but I did convince him that he needed to drink mine as well as his because, well, I don't like to waste anything. When our waiter, Ian, found out that I didn't like my drink he brought me a Cranberry Margarita and did not charge us for the other drink, even though it was consumed. That was not anything we expected, but it was very much appreciated and it insures that we will be repeat customers. While we were there we also got some of their yummy bread and oil and an order of their chips and salsa. It was a very nice visit and we felt that we were safe due to their social distancing practices. We will be back.
Feb 27, 2020Previous reviewThe Flat River Grill is a part of the Gilmore Group and on your birthday you are able to have dinner on them. You need to go on your actual birthday and you need to be a member of their dining rewards club, which is Gregslist. When we got there for dinner we were seated in their outside area. This was in November and it was a bit chilly, however we were told that there were space heaters and we need not worry about being cold. Well.....not all of the space heaters were working and our waitress really didn't seem that interested in trying to get the one closest to us in working order. I heard the gals at the table beside us ask about the non working heater and the waitress just explained that it wasn't working. When I asked she must have decided to try it, and lo and behold, she got it to work. It's too bad that it took two tables complaining to get her to do something about it. When we were seated I told the waitress that it was my birthday, but she didn't really tell me anything about the benefits of it being my birthday. I had to ask her to confirm that my meal would be free and I also had to ask what I was able to get. I have been there a number of times for my birthday, but I didn't want to assume that it was the same as it had been in prior years. When I told her that it was my birthday and that I was there to get my free birthday meal she should have responded with "Happy Birthday" and she should have told me what I was able to get, but she didn't. At any rate I got the Potato Crusted Walleye and in place of the broccolini I got asparagus and in place of the mashed potatoes I got rosemary garlic roasted redskin potatoes. Everything was amazing, I can't wait to have it again. While my dinner was great, it would have been much better if our waitress would have been more welcoming when I told her it was my birthday. I'm not so sure I care to spend my birthday there again as I was real uncomfortable asking about my free meal. Thank you Flat River Grill for my amazing birthday dinner.

My sister and I hit up this place for our sister date and I am glad we did! We both had the spinach and artichoke dip which was very good but nothing off from what you'd normally get with this. The salmon dish was flavorful but not cooked to my preferred temperature. I was told it was sushi grade so I wanted a medium rare cook on it. It was most definitely medium well and verging closer to well. The mango salsa always the most exciting part of the dish and the rice was seriously just plain white rice. Want to find a way to really full out the flavor of a dish? Serve plain white rice! I would have loved to see some of the flavors pulled through in the rice. Maybe a pineapple fried rice? My sister ordered the mushroom pizza with gluten free crust for my sake. It was PHENOMENAL!! Full of flavor and I can't wait to eat my left overs!! Food quality receives 3/5 stars.
The service was EXCELLENT!! 5 stars!! Cleanliness 5 stars! Food freshness 5 stars!! Ambiance 5 stars!! No explanation needed for the rest because seriously it's just that in point!! So, with this the average is rounded up to 5 stars! I'd love to see some changes with that salmon though.

We have been to FRG several times and found the food to be ok. Nothing great.
The past three times we were there, including today, there was no one at the front to seat people.
Today...after 10 minutes of waiting, I went to the back to ask someone for assistance. No one came out for a while, so we left and went down the street to a small brewery / restaurant. We are very glad we did because we had a wonderful lunch there.

Another great meal at Flat River Grill. We had the brisket and the hanger steak and both were excellent. Cooked perfectly and just the right portion. We were seated immediately which is nice compared to long waits we typically have in the winter months.

Flat river burger with goat cheese and sweet potato fries on the side. Honestly the best burger I've ever had. Meat is cooked perfectly to medium rare, caramelized onions and goat cheese are amazing additions. Couldn't recommend enough.
