So coming here is both memorable and heartwarming!! All of these dishes and recipes are My Familia's and have been stolen, adapted, adopted from the Original Creators "El Cortez Restaurant" in Blue Island on Olde Western Ave. My Aunt never trademarked ™ any of the recipes or dishes, every single one of these are Family members' names or references. Nonetheless, the food is Sensational and Delicious
Bringing back memories of My Grandma cooking and more.
The service from Danielle was Superb and she accommodated my party of people very well. We sat I'm the outside atrium which was very comfortable.
Obviously the signature chips n salsa was yummy and held us over until the main courses arrived. Ample drinks and great music too.
Real Mexican food and ALL Authentic homemade dishes makes this an exceptional experience!!
Thank's for taking care of us!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 41342779Sep 1, 2022
Great margaritas, food has gone downhill drastically since I was last there a little over a year ago. I had a ground beef taco salad, zero taste to it.

Love the outdoor patio! It's my favorite. The food is def NOT authentic but still good. The margarita flight is my fav and the reason I love to return!

My sister and I went to La Fiesta just before 5 PM and it was perfect timing because within minutes there were lots of families arriving indoors and outdoors. My sister ordered the Enchiladas Suizas, which was a real disappointment. It was covered with red sauce that tasted like it came out of a jar of Hunt's tomato sauce, absolutely flavorless.
It's as if they put the enchiladas on a plate, poured the tomato sauce over it then put squares of cheese on top that were just barely warm, no bubbling, browning at all.
On the other hand, I ordered the Plato la Fiesta combo platter and my enchilada was good with a nice crust, melted cheese and flavor and everything else on the plate. She asked the server to exchange the Enchiladas Suizas for a taco. She kept the rice and beans. Our waitress was very nice and attentive, offering refills and checking on our table from time to time. I would go back again but it wouldn't be for the Enchiladas Suizas. The combo for sure.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 2475811070Sep 14, 2020Updated review
I'm so done with this place. I supported them during the pandemic by ordering carry out. Tonight, I decided to dine outside.
I was seated in the "extended" patio which consists of several tables placed on uneven asphalt under a large tent. They have a small string of lights that barely illuminate the tent. Perhaps some strings patio lights? You know, to dress it up? No. Not at La Fiesta. Anyway, lack of patio decor aside, I knew it was going to be a bad visit when the hostess brought plastic utensils. Am I getting carry out? If it's so dangerous to bring me some metal utensils then you shouldn't be open. Again I digress.
Here's when I really knew my meal was going to be crap. The waiter arrived. This guy has been here at least 15 years and he has been terrible for at least the last 10. He has little interest in doing his job. Hey man, if you don't like your job go do something else.
He took the drink order and came back pretty quickly which surprised me. He then seemed perturbed that I wasn't ready to order. And why wasn't I ready? The hostess brought one menu for two people. What's that all about? More COVID nonsense? I told him I needed two minutes. He came back in 10. Really? Anyway, he took our order and left.
The food arrived fairly quickly. He dropped it off and left. What's the first thing you do as as waiter, waitress, runner, etc. upon dropping off food? You ask if they need anything else. Not this guy. He hightailed it out of there.
I finished a beer. The bottle sat empty for 15 minutes. Waiter never came back. I finished my meal. A few minutes of empty dishes and no drink passed. He magically appeared and asked if I wanted another beer. My response: "Not anymore." I asked for the check and that took him another 10 minutes. I should have walked out on the check.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the food. It was bland as always. Enchiladas tasted like a Chef Boyardee version. Steak tacos were flavorless.
I paid the bill and left the change for the horrible waiter who should have been fired 10 years ago. It amounted to $1.08. That's $1.08 too much.
I've been coming here for 30 or more years. It used to be good.
Never again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 31, 2017Previous reviewUPDATE:
Came here the other evening and sat inside. I think their indoor/outdoor room was poorly designed. Sound resonates off every wall. You can't hear the people across from you because it gets so loud. Anyway, four of us ordered dinners. Three dinners arrived. Waitress blamed the missing dinner on a computer glitch. Ten minutes later it arrived. The food was bland as always. The only tasty thing here is the salsa. I really can't come here anymore. I want to support local business but this place isn't good.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
La Fiesta makes its business on the local crowd. People can go out, have a meal, have some drinks, and not drive too far to get home. Overall the place is decent but it could be so much better.
Food. Average Mexican cuisine at best. Basic a la carte tacos are well done. More ambitious dishes are bland. Presentation resembles slop from a mess hall. Beans and rice, neither of which are tasty, accompany every meal. Appetizers and deserts are very good. If you can live by only ordering apps, drinks, and desert you'll be very happy.
Alcohol. Margaritas vary. I think it depends on the bartender. Sometimes they are great. Other times they can be bland. Beer selection has standard overpriced domestics and usual Mexican imports plus Amstel Light. On the plus side they now serve Revolution Anti-Hero and a Dogfish Ale. Both beers are considered domestics.
Service. The service has never been good. Waitstaff rarely gets updated. The same servers have been here for 10 or more years and are actually getting slower and less interested in doing their jobs. You should never have an empty drink. I've waited 15 minutes for drinks on multiple occasions. This should drive management crazy.
Parking. This is terrific. They bought an adjacent lot and paved it for another 20 or so spots. Plus street parking is available. You can occasionally park in the church lot across the street.
Ambiance. Place is very clean and nicely decorated especially around Christmas.
La Fiesta needs a menu overhaul. Bring in a respected chef to fix things. Reduce the number of offerings on the menu. Lose the items that nobody ever orders. Dress up the staples so that the presentation doesn't look like a plate of slop. Come up with some specialty drinks in addition to the standard margaritas. Bring in a few more craft beers. This place does very well but it can be a gold mine if you make improvements.Dec 21, 2016Previous reviewLa Fiesta makes its business on the local crowd. It doesn't look that good when you first walk by. But once you get in the hostess up in the front are very nice. Please take it to your seat, and shortly after your waiter will come, the waiters are very nice my waitress her name is Jenny. She's very nice. She's also very helpful too. She tells you how everything is cooked. How much they cost and so on she's very nice she make some jokes, 10 out of 10 recommend I've been going there basically my whole life I know almost all the waitresses and the drinks at the bar are very good. They're homemade chips and salsa are the best, especially with the guac and their enchilada Suiza is the best. I also highly recommend the rice. The rice is so flavorful and just just delicious.
