Simply they lie, employees on site are useless, over the phone at the 1800 number is worse. Refuse to apply discounts on site, scammers. Impossible to speak to someone in store. Don't recommend.

SITREP
Usually one of two different Sacramento "Budget"-locations I will rent a car from.
THE SETUP
I actually live in Midtown, but when going online to reserve a vehicle - usually an economy or a compact class - the Airport (SMF) Budget-location usually had considerably better daily rate deals.
COSTS
So even if it meant hopping on the Yolobus and taking an extra hour to get out there (as well as the return Yolobus, it still was worth the cost-savings, which could have been as much as $75-$150 for a 4-7 day rental.
In addition, back in 2016 / early 2017, the Airport ARCO AM/PM had the cheapest gas on par with suburban stations.
INCENTIVES - RATES CHANGE
So for the last six (6) months or so, I've noticed considerable less expensive daily rates on car rentals here at 16th & I when compared to the airport rates:
My most recent 2-Day weekend cost $60 here at this 16th & I Street location, whereas the rental I could have been stuck with at the airport was just a bit more than $105.
GAS COSTS
Add to this that the ARCO at the airport in the last year has now become one of the most EXPENSIVE gas stations in the valley:
* at least 60 cents more a gallon than my Shell / Union 76 stops in Downtown; and worse,
* a full 80 cents to a dollar more a gallon than the Safeway gas Station just off on Del Paso Blvd exit from I-5 on way to airport
Thus the discount-incentives to go to the airport have pretty much disappeared, and when coupled with the always present travel-inconvenience when compared to my just walking 3 blocks from home to here, there more times I rent from here now.

I just have to add on a purely creative-level that I give props to this location for allowing the painting of the mural of actress Saoirse Ronan from the movie "LADYBIRD" - what a lovely vision to see now when walking to or by this location!

Was in an accident hit by a truck from Budget Sacramento these clowns have not bothered to answer any calls in over a month regarding repairs to my vehicle. Apparently this is normal behavior according to my insurance company but they are quite active iin calling f they are the ones hit.

My fiancé and I rented a car through budget and went to the wrong location to pick up but when we got there Judy helped us out , usually it takes forever it seem like to pick up a car even with it the reservation being done online . But Judy got us in and out on the road in no time . Not only was she fast and efficient she was very friendly and just made the experience painless and comfortable. I will definitely be back in the future for all of my rentals.

After being set back an hour due to Enterprise's debit card games, I was more than happy to find Budget. I was able to get a rental in less than 15 mins and start on my trek. The car itself was clean, smelled nice, and drove smooth. It even had a backup camera. The check in process was just as smooth as the check out and my deposit was immediately released back into my account. I definitely plan on coming back. This location is great in my opinion.

I would never run I would never run a car from them I would never rent a truck from them I would never rent anything for one of the employees there plays favoritism she holds cars back give them the other people her name would be Judy she I went in there a couple two or three times where they said these cars were reserved for people and that night and the next day the car was still there but she's straight out lied to me to save cars for other people I would never run a car even if you gave me a car for free I would never run a car from these people Steve on the other hand has a nice guy but is employees or a mess and they're Liars

Give this location a pass. I usually rent from the airport location which has been ok for the last couple of years. This location just doesn't live up to the same standard.
I reserved and prepaid for a Ford Focus (or similar). This means a medium hatchback. When I arrived, the woman at the desk was short tempered and dismissive. She was also not dressed in uniform, which would have been fine but she chose to show up to work in sweats and fluffy slippers. Call me old fashioned but that seemed pretty unprofessional. I was allocated a Ford Fiesta (a full class down from a Focus.) In addition, I was asked to pay a $100 deposit. I have never been asked to pay a security deposit for a car before. I was under the impression that that's why you give them your credit card details (for incidentals.) I didn't think anything of it and paid it anyway so I could get the car and get out of her hair.
As it turned out, the car wouldn't be ready for another 10 minutes as it was still being washed. Bummer. Had to sit around in the nasty waiting area.
When I returned the car I inquired about my security deposit. She said she didn't know how long it would take and seemed disinterested and bothered by my question. I'd already made up my mind there and then to leave a negative review based on my interaction with this person.
That was before it took over 3 weeks of waiting for my security deposit to be refunded and numerous phone calls to get that money back. Where I come from, we refer to this kind of behavior as 'fraud'. Solid 1 star for this place. Absolutely never again. Unprepared for a busy Saturday morning. Waited in a long line and then my car wasn't even ready. Car was booked in advance.

Paid for a luxury car got the lowest end car. They didn't have my car ready so had to stand and wait for some somebody to bring keys which took FOREVER Very disappointing.

This location is probably the best so far because of the customer service. When I made my reservation online, it allowed me to book a 6:00pm pick-up. Weirdly, by that hour they are already closed. I called on my way there (5:45) and was advised that the doors locked right on the hour. I arrived with 4 minutes to spare and was helped by a lovely woman named Debbie. Of course at first she was seemed somewhat irritated but explained that she was frustrated because of he booking time I was allowed online. Despite that, Debbie was the sweetest and took care of us within minutes. She had me driving out the lot in no time in a comfortable vehicle that was better than what I reserved. Upon return, I made sure to be here between 5:30-5:45 and Debbie's great hospitality (with her lovely smile) was there to greet me. Being that it was the weekend, we realized that we forgot something in the vehicle. I called the very next day (Saturday) around noon to check if they found it and she had it. Because they closed early and I wouldn't make it in time, I asked if she could possibly hold it one more day. She graciously agreed and when I came in the following afternoon she had my item waiting for me on her counter. The car itself was great, we had no issues and it was nice and clean (inside & our). Debbie is the greatest. She is a great example of what customer service truly is. Thank you for your assistance Debbie.
