Finally living in the house. 3 m0nth so far. One things for sure, detail is not their game. They rush you through the closing and walk thru is BS. Buyer beware. I love the home but things like plumbing going wrong, fuse blowing in living room just using TV, not able to use garage as a garage bc outlets cant take any machinery, missing tile pieces in corners, excessive chalking to glue house together, not being able to completely open refrigerator door all the way due to poor designing, all ext. doors uneven with walls, etc. Love the home but wish we had a better experience. Oh and the mumbo they talk about warranty, its just that! 2-10 is BS. Microwave took a crap and I had to do the claim through the manufacturer. They wouldn't.

Just rea Rebecca H comments. I keep finding beer cans. I don't know how that is even legal to work under the influence. Told the owner but he takes no responsibility. Guess I am lucky no accident happen here.

The worst imaginable experience from start to finish. The sub-contractors mostly spoke spanish, no English, their workmanship was extremely poor. They left their beer cans and empty food bags at the work site, that we had to clean up after.
The interior walls keep developing cracks. that require filing and repainting. The walls and ceilings are sprayed textured and thin. I paid extra for upgrade vinyl plank flooring and what I got was the lowest wear level , minimum padding, that looks and feels like walking on plastic, awful ! The slab has a spider web of cracks on the porch and carport. I could go on and on.
Heritage Homes in my opinion cares very little about quality, its all about their bottom line.
Never would I use them again or recommend. I cried for a year.

The worst experience I've ever had with a business in my entire life. They told me the house would be built in 6 months but refused to put any time frame in writing no matter how much myself & the insurance company asked. They insisted on keeping the time frame completely open ended. The day I signed the contract, they told me they could not get started until I paid 30%; no problem, I gave them a cashier check that same day. They did not do anything for another 2 months! It took 2 years to complete the job.
There were more problems that I could possibly list here and no one seemed to care. Tried to reach the owner numerous times by phone never got a return call, went to the office numerous times & secretary always said he was unavailable. Finally sent him an email to which I got an extremely rude response basically saying 'tough luck'.
When I met with the head contractor for the halfway walkthru i asked about the outrageous mess that was accumulating in the yard. He said they would clean up their mess if I paid an additional $800; I agreed. When the build was complete, i asked when the yard was going to be cleaned up, I was told they didnt add the fee to my bill so they had not planned on cleaning up after themselves. I reminded of the conversation we had at the walk thru and was told to look at the written contract I signed where it said they do not honor any verbal agreements [ didn't deny that we had a verbal agreement, just that they were not going to honor it].
It cost me $7500 to hire another company to clean up behind them, and then another $15,000 to get the bare basic landscaping back in order (see pics*).
I've lived in the house 2 years now. It is only myself and one elementary-aged child, so there is not a lot of wear-and-tear to be had. The carpets already need to be replaced, all of the caulking in the kitchen and bathrooms came off & has been replaced; the exterior faucets were left dangling from the bricks instead of being attached; the kitchen cabinets have separated from the ceiling & the cabinet doors do not completely close anymore due to the shifting; weather stripping on front and back doors had to be replaced; the slope on the porch is not correct so water accumulates there every time it rains and causes green mold to grow

*A few things to note about the pictures:
      - they were all taken after Heritage homes was 100% finished and paid off in total
-there is a dumpster that they themselves brought onto the property and did not put one thing in it, instead, everything went on the ground.
-Along with the building materials was common trash, fast-food garbage, drink cans, cigarettes, etc. --There were three piles of cement dumped in the yard, the largest was 2 feat thick and required a jackhammer and backhoe to remove! One of the piles of cement was behind the dumpster, so someone actually had to make the extra effort to carry the cement past the dumpster to go behind it and dump it on the ground.
-the pictures dont even show the huge amount of nails, shards of scrap metal, and other things that we are still finding in the grass.

      P.S.
I had a home built many years ago by the less expensive SS Steele. I thought I was upgrading by going with HH; big mistake. The service, professionalism, and quality of work was much better with the less expensive company.

My experience with Heritage Homes was a disaster. My advise, if you are considering using them is to run away from them as fast as you can. Run like you are an Olympian and don't look back!

Building a new home should be an exciting and thrilling experience. Dealing with Heritage Homes literally will suck the life out of you! Let me start by saying that this was the 6th new home I have had built in the last 35 years. My Heritage experience was by far the worst building experience ever! I experienced all the same complaints that most have already posted. Delays, Lies, Failed inspections ( over 10!) shoddy work, garbage and construction debris littering my property and most annoying of all, piss poor attitude by most of the Heritage employees. As a former business owner, I can tell you that with the exception of a women who helped me with finish choices, and the VP of new construction ( I think that was his title), I would fire them all! Unfriendly, ZERO customer service skills and liars. Certainly none would be the face of any business I owned.

My build took months longer than was necessary, principally due to the framing and roof and mason crews. Citizenship on these individuals could have possibly been the cause of these delays. Just one quick story, roofer installing metal roof, not using safety equipment, fell off roof, causing a head injury and an airlift to the hospital. When I contacted Frank Lot, Heritage Homes owner, as I was concerned about potential liability, I was told not to worry, suing me would cause him more problems that it was worth. You can guess who paid for that medivac by helicopter!

I could go on for hours about my Heritage experience but the list is far too long and I suspect if you read my review and the others you will choose more wisely than I did.

Don't make the mistake I made, choose another builder!

I've always heard the saying: You get what you pay for"... if you go cheap then you get cheap, BUT I guess I just ASSUMED that when a house is being built it has to pass inspections so you are pretty safe with whomever you choose to build your home...Boy was I wrong!! Heritage Homes cuts EVERY corner they can to save a buck!! Now, let me first say that I LOVE the outer part (bricks) of my house...but that feeling is short lived due to the MANY problems I've had since I moved in a month ago! My paint job on my walls is horrific- paint missing everywhere (when I called my supervisor over my build he informed me that the painters left the bucket of paint that they used on my house in case I need it for future touch ups so I'm assuming that means that I have to fix their mistakes!!) Also be forewarned that the paint they use on your walls is "water soluble" so if you try to wipe off dirt, etc from your walls- the paint wipes off!! I'm not lying, people. My carpet is coming apart already from the walls as well as holes in the carpet padding that can be felt when you walk barefoot throughout the house- I've filed a complaint with the warranty Dept but haven't heard back yet, of course!! My kitchen sink moves around on top of the counter- it wasn't caulked in a lot of places NOR did the plumber install the brackets under the sink to hold it in place!! He has YET to come and fix the problem even though I've called him 3 times. But my absolute favorite complaint is that after two days of moving in to our new home I noticed that I was having to wipe down furniture, kitchen table AND all my baseboards constantly!! So, I decided maybe the construction left some dust in the vents or something so I decided to give it a few days and if nothing changed I would just buy a new a/c filter to see if it helped. OMG, when I went to open the filter compartment - I noticed the filter that they had installed just two weeks earlier was FILTHY- it looked as if it had been in for years without being changed. And whenever I removed it to install the new one I realized WHY my house was filled with dust and such...the space behind my filter had 3, THREE inches of dust, crushed cement and dirt piled inside!! The builders didn't even bother to sweep it out before putting a filter in and turning my a/c unit on. So my family was breathing in all those particles for nearly 3 weeks!! Please be forewarned before using this company. IF you have to go with a cheaper builder like this one- make SURE you can be there to oversee the different contractors and especially the painters and the carpet people when they work on your house because heritage homes must go with very cheap laborers and contractors (atleast they did in my area in Mississippi). Good luck!!

Before you use heritage homes as your contractor I ask you to come and see my heritage home that will make you go to another home builder. All the construction of my house was the worst I have ever had in 70 years. If you want to see my Heritage home call 704-779-8883. I am located in Mobile off Rangeline road. There are just too many mistakes for me to even begin to list them.
