Perfectly cooked medium rare. Great service it is my birthday and the waiter gave us 2 pies instead of 1 which came with the dinner for two. Please come here everything is great.

Not from around these parts, but was here for some little league baseball tournaments. Kinda random little town, but it does sit on the doorsteps to Sequoia National Park. So there are decent hotels and restaurants in the area.
Found this place and I swear it used to be up in the Bay Area too. But we had a large group and wanted a nice dinner after our last day of game play. Got here pretty much as soon as it opened at around 5:30, only because we had a light lunch and needed to get back on the road north before it became too dark. Large space, and it was pretty much empty when we got there. And for the two hours we were there, only a handful of groups showed up. If this was a typical day, not sure how this place could survive.
First impressions - nice ambiance. I like the decor and it seemed like it was purposely on the darker side. Lack of TVs though as we wanted to watch some football. One negative thing - upon entering, the front smelled of a combination sewage and cleaning product/bleach smell. Really really offputting.
Our group got tons of food, but the highlights for me were the loaded nachos as an appetizer which could have easily doubled as an entree. For myself, I got me a steak and chicken combo. Steak was perfectly cooked, juicy and tender with nice flavor. Chicken looked dry but was actually moist. And tasty. I'd definitely do this combo again. One of my buddies raved about the ribs. Can't believe I forgot to take pics.

I wish there were a way to post 2 separate ratings one for food and one for service. All week I was looking forward to celebrating my retirement at Tahoe Joe's, so I was a little frustrated when it did not live up to expectations. That food did not disappoint. I give the food a 10/10. My steak was cooked to perfection the sides were perfectly seasoned. If I do eat here again, I'll order out.
My waitress was friendly hence the 2 stars, but I had to ask for the brunch menu, I had to ask someone to take my order because my waitress was busy talking to coworkers. She did check on me once after my food was delivered but someone else refilled my drink for me. I thought of timing her to see how much time she spent chatting but figured that was a bit excessive and to just note it in my review.
Update: gave it a second chance:
I had the potato soup which was very creamy and had few actual potato chunks in it. The onion straws were the best part of the meal. Crisp and served with horseradish and bbq sauce.
My pasta had no flavor to it just aldente pasta. I took it home and added Alfredo sauce. The artichoke chunks were bite size but only 2 of them in the whole dish. The chicken was cooked thoroughly but again no flavor.

I really don't want to write this review, but I feel it's necessary.
I'll start with the check in.
Party of 6, two of the 6 are under 3 years old.
Sunday night at around 6:00pm, the place was a ghost town. Maybe 5 tables had guests, the rest of the place was empty.
"There's a 15 minute wait." Seriously?
We're seated, menus brought, drink orders taken.
We ordered our meals.
Two soups and salads.
Joes Steak (medium).
Kids chicken strips
One of their burgers.
The salads came out.
Then about 10 minutes later the steak came out, cooked well done.
I got about half way through my steak, no soups and no burger.
We waved someone down and they informed us that they were out of the soup we ordered.
Still no burger.
We waved someone else down to ask about the burger (I'm now finished with my steak).
Instead of taking care of it, the person chased down our waitress, she then went to the back and asked about it, it was never cooked.
When it finally came out, it was completely raw on the inside. Not rare, raw.
To their credit, they removed the burger from our tag, then my son in law went to Canes because he was starving.

I would leave zero stars if I could. After the service we received today this establishment won't be getting our business any longer, which is unfortunate because we are regulars and we come once a week or every other week at times. From the moment we walked in until the second we left we had nothing but terrible service. I have never seen a server that was so confrontational in my life. We walked in at 1:45 (confirmed by the time stamp of family photo that we took in front of the restaurant. Waited up in the front for a long time with not one employee to be found. The server came to the front and said follow me with an annoyed look on her face without a greet or even a smile for that matter. We asked if we could get a bigger booth and that also annoyed her and once we were sat she took forever to bring us any bread or put our drink order in. There was no other customers in the restaurant so to take that long is ridiculous to begin with. After giving us our drinks she took even longer to come back with bread or even take our order. She walked right to the back and once out bread was gone and we needed refills we kept waiting for her to come back but she went to one of the computers and was there for a while and then Went to go right back to the kitchen . At that point I said excuse me can we please get some refills and get some more bread pleas ? She looked back and gave me a dirty look and said that's what I was doing and rolled her eyes. She brought the bread and said anything else ? With a sarcastic tone and and I said yes the refill please ? She said okay and didn't take my cup and never came back with a refill. We waited and did not see her come back out and there were customers leaving in the front because there was no employees around. We seen customers walk back half way on the kitchen saying hello ??? Can someone come help us?? They waited for a very long time and walked back to the kitchen for a second time to try to find an employee. All u could hear was the employees laughing and talking back in the kitchen messing around while we sat there waiting for service . We did not get our food until 3:30 mind you we got there at 1:45 and were the only table in the restaurant when we put our food order in. The people that came after us that actually stayed to be sat was only a table of two and that was well over 30 minutes of us giving her our order. We were only a party of 4 . When we got our food we asked if something was going on back that that made our food take so long because we have never waited that long even when there was a full house . She gave us worse attitude after that and then went and talked about us to the other workers in the back . The blonde manager that claimed to be the general manager was looking at us and smirking and did not address our table after she sat there on the phone the entire time . I don't know who's attitude was worse hers or the servers . The server constantly had smart remarks to say to us and kept dogging me until I asked her to please stop looking
At me like that. she continued to talk about us and run her smart mouth . Finally the "GM" decided to do her job and come to address the situation which she should have done a long time ago the first time she seen the server telling us smart remarks from across the restaurant and she came up the table saying what's the problem? When we tried to explain she had nothing but attitude and nothing but excuses for the server and claimed we didn't come at the time we said we did . When I tried to show her the proof of the time we came in she told us to leave after they both stood there tag teaming us with smart remarks and saying rude things to us. This "GM" needs to be retrained and she needs people skills ,learn how to run a restaurant and how to properly
Handle her employees. At the least how to stay off her phone for personal matters so she can tend to the restaurant. We asked for the servers name and she said she's not giving it to us when we said we wanted to make a complaint. On the ticket it said the servers name was Ritchie. G . She should be embarrassed at the way she holds her self and how rude she is to customers. The place was empty and I'm starting to see why. Do better Richie you are making this restaurant go downhill and the manager is even worse than she is. Their behavior needs to be handled or this place will go downhill quick . Fell free to check cameras corporate! The times are 1:45 -3:45 Tuesday April 16th . You have employees willing to lie to cover their butts so I would check into that. wonder if the customers that left because they didn't get helped in the front went and had a nice meal at a different restaurant. Im sure the server just forgot to put our order in and didn't want to own up to her mistake and that's probably why she was at the computer for a second time with no one else in the restaurant. May 16, 2023Previous reviewTahoe Joes is hands down the best place for steak in my opinion. Well not only their steaks but my wife and I also love their rolls. We usually start off with chicken nachos as an appetizer.
My wife usually gets the twin filets which are always cooked to her liking and never disappoint. My go to is the prime rib. You can never go wrong with prime!
The service is always good with exception to this last visit it was exceptional. Logan was our server for the 1st time and he went above and beyond. What a true example of customer service. That's becoming harder to find now a days to be honest!
I also love the fact that this restaurant is always nice and clean. I highly recommend Tahoe Joes to everyone!

2.5 Truly hit or miss. Over the years we've enjoyed their happy hour pricing all day Sunday on the patio or in the bar area. However, we recently came in for lunch on a weekday. Service in the dining room was incredibly slow to almost non-existent. Not busy or understaffed just not attentive. We'd rather give our business to locally owned restaurants moving forward.

My friends and I got there later in the evening and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
They put some tables together to handle the 8 of us.
The service was decent. It wasn't busy, I think because of the construction going on which made things difficult to get to the restaurant. Anyway, the young lady may have been busy cleaning up other things because they were slowly getting ready to close, but I think she could have stayed on top of our drink orders a little better.
The ambiance was that of of casual steak joint.
Sort of like a Black Angus, but maybe even more casual.
As for the food, it was good. The steak was different. It was tender but it was slow roasted as opposed to a hard grill. The nachos were good, plenty of the items were on top, but needed more on the bottom center layers.
My friend who ordered the salad was very satisfied with it, and the chicken was also very tasty and filling.

We went on Friday it has gone down hill since Covid. We use to get all you can eat soup and salad, but now it is one bowl of each but the soup is really a cup of watered down clam chowder, will never go back, next time Olive Garden has all you can eat, salad, bread sticks and soup for $9.99 ea . Now I know way I don't see very many cars there anymore. Very sad . They used to have deals for Valentine's Day???? Be trying road house next!!!
