Once told my friend he needed a new motherboard and that they'd be happy to sell him one when all he needed was a new CMOS battery. They installed a hard drive for a friend who paid extra for data transfer. When he got his PC back all of his files were gone. They ended up having to do a recovery off the old drive to rescue files they'd formatted off it when they were done and only managed to get about half of them.
