Mellow Mushroom Raleigh

Though it is a part of a chain, and I usually prefer local pizza joints, Mellow Mushroom has proved itself to me as the most reliably great pizza in Raleigh that I've had - both for takeout and dine-in.

The pizza's bake is always spot on, neither over or under cooked. The quality of the ingredients is high as well. I brought family here when they visited from out of town and they reacted by turning their nose up at the idea of a chain instead of a local place. They loved it so much that they now say there is no need to go anywhere else.

It is worth dining in at least once to see the cool wall art. This place has a unique vibe to it and theming extends even to the psychedelic menu. It's a lot of fun to see, and the servers we have had were all kind and attentive so far.

I'd rate it as a must try. Check it out!

Stopped by here on Saturday around 2pm for lunch after finding out MoJoe's had a 35min wait. Was happy to not have to wait for a table!

The food was decent - special shoutouts for the pizzas, as they were definitely the best items. Kosmic Karma was great, I definitely recommend for pesto lovers! Merry Prankster was also great, I really enjoyed the herb aoili drizzle on there!

I'll say the ritz burger was not good.. the meat was extremely dry and lacked flavor. I'd stay away from the burgers here.

The wings were fine, nothing special.

I have been visiting this Mellow for probably 20 years. They have so many tasty items on the menu. Before I was gluten free I loved the soft pretzel appetizer. Their salads are fabulous. I love the enlightened spinach salad and the Greek salad. Their dressings are really flavorful as well. On this particular Friday night we were seated immediately outside on the deck and the weather was perfect. It's such a fun spot on the corner of Peace and Glenwood. We asked to be seated in our favorite server's section. Eden is positive and energetic and always gets our order right. She quickly brought us our drinks and put in our food order. If you are gluten free, Mellow has good GF pizzas. I always order the Kosmic Karma -- such a great mix of flavors. And, because I'm a sauceaholic I asked for extra pizza sauce on the side. Everything came out just as I ordered. Son ordered a Cobb salad with no dressing. I guess it's yummy enough to eat without dressing!? Son had gluten free brownie for dessert which he said was delicious. Always look forward to visiting Mellow. This was another great experience.

Initially I thought was a mom and pop, but soon realized it was a chain haha. Regardless, I loved this little spot. My girlfriend and I were driving around downtown Raleigh when we came across these giant mushrooms outside the restaurant which immediately drew us in. The service was really nice and the workers were friendly. They had outdoor seating with umbrellas as well. Pizza was amazing. The small pie is really small however. Would recommend a medium at least if you're really hungry. Many options on the menu to choose from if you don't just want pizza though. I'll definitely be back again.

The outdoor seating area is nice. Indoors is nice and spacious. We were seated quickly. Pleasant atmosphere. The food was delicious. The wings came out smoking hot. They were so good. The wings are a lil pricey but I guess worth it. Most places have gone up on their wings since Covid. Nothing new anymore. (20 for $29.99) The Holy Shitake pizza was yummy. I also tried a smoky peach tequila drink. It was good. A hint of jalapeño in it gave it a kick. I'm definitely returning. The parking, during certain hours, may be limited or tight. It's worth it.

Food was amazing as always! Our waitress Kody was very sweet. She gave ample suggestions on most popular dishes and even her personal favorite the loaded potato pizza. We received our pizza and calzone really fast.

Only downside was our drinks were really watery. I was disappointed because I felt it was no flavor did not taste like a margarita (RB margarita). Overall loved the experience and food.

The service was great. We had a lovely waitress and the ambiance was nice and relaxed. The food was just average. The pretzel bites were dense but the cheddar dip was good. The pizza felt stodgy and heavy. The choice of toppings was good. The pizza was not as good as I had expected.

Came here for a company lunch during week day. Had plenty of seating for a large group. The pizzas are rather creative with a wide variety.

Note: the outdoor seating is next to the road and subject to traffic noise and other activities (i.e. lawn mower)

Pretty good place for food. For our appetizers, we ordered pretzel bites but they came with a long hair in it. Nevertheless, the waitress was kind and quickly took the item back. The manager returned back with our new plate which was a nice touch.

We each got our separate pizzas and they were delicious, I'll say that. Overall the all the food was amazing and the service was great.

Just a note, the place is a bit loud so don't expect this to be a nice and quiet dinner location. You do have to speak up to hear your dinner date.

First off I want to say the customer service was really good. I got 2 slices of regular cheese pizza and a coke. It looked good however 0 taste. The crust was overcooked and hard and to be honest didn't even taste the sauce. Too much mozzarella it was unbalanced. I could only take 2 bites. I was also given a Diet Coke instead of a regular coke. I thought this was a pizza place but no one in there was eating pizza. That should of been my 1st clue.
