Woody's Ice Cream

Always good choice for a tasty ice cream. I like how friendly the staff are and also the atmosphere is great

As an ice cream connoisseur, Woodys soft serve is bar none! Creamy, thick and absolutely delicious! My go to order is the vanilla soft serve with rainbow sprinkles. Super simple because the quality is so high!

My first time going to Woody's was just before COVID hit, and I was a big fan then. Portions were huge and the prices were cheap for some good 'ol soft serve. Lines were long because everyone wanted a sweet treat. But lately, portions have become smaller and the prices have gone up. If it was one or the other, I'd understand, but doing both just makes me not want to go there.

Service has never been exceptional or quick, considering they only employ high schoolers. The soft serve itself is simply standard chocolate or vanilla, which taste good but aren't anything special. The lines remain long, so be prepared to wait to order, and wait much longer if you get anything that requires more than scooping/dispensing, such as a sundae or milkshake.

I've wanted to try Woodys ice cream since my grad school days at GMU, but never really made the effort to visit before I took my 15 month old toddler here after the Old Town splash pad. There is a small space indoors, more outdoor seating. The inside has a lot of local sports memorabilia (HS and below). There are high chairs for both indoor and outdoor use.

The service was frosty but I'm not going to dock High school kids that clearly look like this is the least exciting part of their day.

The flavors seemed really unique and several were non-dairy. You can try up to two samples. They also have soft serve-chocolate, vanilla, twist. Cones and cups are available including specialty cones. I chose chocolate Oreo because I'm a sucker for chocolate overload. I ordered only a single scoop but it was huge. My daughter was more interested in people watching so I finished the ice cream myself. Very chocolatey and filled with Oreos. It's a popular spot and I'd happily return in the future.

Stopped in here on a whim. Woody's boasts of the "original" ice cream and has a variety of dairy based flavors ranging from green tea to chocolate to pistacho. The only nondairy flavor they had today was raspberry sorbet, which was tasty. The menu offers a variety of dessert and topping options: sundaes, shakes, etc.
We ordered espresso chip, vanilla, and Oreo vanilla - all of which were tasty but standard faire for ice cream. The staff was a little stand offish but efficient in taking our orders. We didn't have long of a wait and received our ice cream promptly. The store was clean and welcoming.

Old-school ice cream place! We have frequented Woody's after many dinners during the summer. Delicious! Can't complain.

Woodys is very delicious. It has great soft serve ice cream and I really like the decorations. It is also pet friendly and you can get a "pup cup" for your dog (yay!)

My husband and I were walking around the Asian Festival on Main St. and saw that we were able to get away from the crowd of people right by this ice cream shop. They have a shaded outside seating area where we sat to enjoy our creamy S'mores Sundae. ''Twas a delight! I only wish that there was a ramp for our stroller to go up instead of having to go around the building or hiking it up the stairs.

A great local treat! Tbh, their menu board is a bit overwhelming with all the options for soft serve and traditional ice creams AND the many ways you can eat it, but the staff is also super friendly and is able to help you make your choice! We ended up with a vanilla cone + blueberry and cheesecake soft serve sundae.

Location has limited parking in a lot, street parking around the town is convenient as well. It is located close to other spots in old town fairfax such as the library, park, and other restaurants and shops which make this a great stop when visiting.

Wow do I love this place. Woodys is probably among Northern Virginia's best ice cream spots. They have all kinds of flavors. I don't want to know the calorie count. What a thoroughly nice staff, and also they keep the lines moving. This place is busy for a good reason! Admittedly it's boring but I love their soft serve vanilla with sprinkles.

Parking can be challenging. A simple solution is to park, where the surf shop used to be parking lot. Walk some of the calories off. The tables here are comfortable, whether inside or on the patio area. You'll see a lot of dogs which is a plus. Definitely stop on by here, as it's a winner of Fairfax City.
