Haircut was a major chop without much thought and you can't do much with a bad cut until the hair grows out so I'm stuck with this for some time.

I found blue mambo while searching for curly hair salon that offered a deva curl certified stylist and high profile colorist. I met Erica Baldwin and didn't regret it! She changed my hair into full mood! I left the salon with a new attitude and hairstyle that received numerous praises from all of my friends, coworkers, and family. Erica colored, cut and styled my hair to perfection for my birthday. She was detailed orientated throughout the process and quick to confirm I liked what I was getting. In love with my hair color! I'm so happy I found Erica. She was exactly what I was looking for. My hair color gets tons of compliments every where I go. It's healthy and growing pretty fast too. I had been dissatisfied with other stylists and colorists so I kept hoping from place to place until I found Erica my forever hair dresser. I travel and hour to come see her and is well worth it. She also did my daughter's hair extensions. Perfectly matched

On the hunt again for a stylist! So frustrating. I've been here 3 times. I was on the hunt for a new stylist/salon after I grew tired of my previous stylist's lack of consistency with performance. Alas, here I am again. So the initial appointment had a few very unfortunate hiccups, but the end result was nice enough that I decided to come back. The hiccups were 1) my highlights looked BUSTED at first and she asked me if I liked them. I was like uhhhhh no, this is not what I asked for at all. So she put a toner on them (which should have been a given) and then the color looked great. So we get to the point where it's time to style my hair. She used ZERO product on my hair. I have naturally curly hair that we were blowing out and she put NOTHING in it before drying it. She tried to do some little twists with her round brush to mimic a curling iron and it just...didn't work. It looked so so bad. So I asked her to just flat iron it. Which also helped me see the true color results and the cut. At that point, I had no complaints with my hair. The color was great and I really liked the cut too. I went to pay and almost died when I was told the total. It was something like $425. I had never had a hair service be that expensive, but I felt foolish because I did not get a quote before she worked on my hair. Something still just didn't add up though, so I called after I left and was like heeeey I don't think that's right. Turns out, she charged me for a full highlight vs a partial. An extra $100. That's a HUGE mistake. She was apologetic and refunded me the difference, but what if I hadn't called?

Anyway, so despite kinda inexcusable hiccups I went back a couple more times because finding a good hair person is HARD. The next time I went, I think everything went fine. I told her that time that I was wearing my hair curly for the most part these days, but wanted my hair cut in a way that would allow me to blow it out and still look good. The cut she gave me was great. I just did an all over color that time and was happy with it.

The next time I went I did just a cut and.....I'm still dealing with how bad of a cut it was. It's now October and my haircut was in July and it's just now getting to the length I requested it to be cut to. She cut it dry even though I reminded her that I had brushed through my hair the night before so my curl pattern was not the way it usually is. She assured me she can still see the shape and got to work. Another reminder that she is not good at styling hair was the way she attempted to do the curly girl method to style mine. She put so much product in it....idk what she even put in my hair it was so heavy and greasy. And then the final nail in the coffin was after I sat under the dryer for about 30 minutes, she took me to a chair to kinda fine tune the cut as you're supposed to do with deva cuts. She very quickly did her little chops and I gasped a little when I saw how much length came off because I knew that when I styled my curls it would be waaaay shorter because it wouldn't be so weighed down. I also asked her to shave the back of my neck because the back of my hair was now so short, my hairline on the back of my neck looked weird. She got the buzzers and did such a half-ass job AND she got my longer hair caught in the buzzers, not once, but twice.

I got home and washed and styled my hair myself and almost cried. It not only was shaped like a mushroom, but it was so short that I couldn't even get it fixed anywhere because I wasn't willing to lose anymore length.

I've been so torn on whether to go back or not, because she did give me two really good cuts....but I just can't. The mistakes she made are just too much to justify a return.

I always book Erica Baldwin for all of my hair needs. I have been going to Erica for 5-6 years now and can't imagine having anyone else do my hair for me at this point. I am not a natural blonde and I am very picky on my color as well as the quality of my extensions and how they are applied so finally finding Erica has made my life so much easier. She is an artist with hair color and has never failed to do a perfect job! She's also the only person I let cut my hair, and I usually don't even have to tell her what I want done, she tells me what I need done and she's always right. I highly recommend Ms Erica to anyone and everyone I know she is the best

I moved to Houston from Argentina almost 3 months ago. I was really hard to me thinking in who is going to take care of my blond hair. My hair is really important to me. I search on the web and I found Blue Mamboo and Erica Baldwin.
I can't be more happy. She is an amazing professional, without even asking she knew what I was expecting. Every time I go I left prettier. I highly recommend her as the best colorist in Houston. I travel 45 minutes to go to that salon but it doesn't matter when you know that you will leave beautiful.
