I lived at the 8 Griggs St location for almost a year. I had a great experience with Stacey (property manager) and Matt (from leasing office)!
Stacey is super responsive and easily reachable by email.
Instead of going through a realtor in Boston, we opted to lease directly with Mt Vernon during the pandemic. Matt was extremely helpful and accommodating throughout the whole process.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Christina K.Boston, MA2655Jun 5, 2023
Rented from them for 15 years. Their Beacon hill apartments might as well be Allston Brighton frat houses. Active rat infestations, violations of the lease, egregious violations of the State Sanitary Code and much more. When you ask for repairs, they threaten you with lease termination. My unit did not have a stove/oven or fully working/reliable plumbing for 6 months, among many other violations they committed.
I have filed a formal legal complaint against them with the state and city.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Emma B.Brighton, MA037Sep 20, 2023
Their Camelot Ct property was the best rental experience I've ever had- beautiful building and street, very proactive property management that addressed any (minor) issues ASAP. Would totally recommend.

Buildings are incredibly well maintained. Everything is extremely clean and they take proactive measures to prevent pest issues, which is rare for management companies. Team is extremely responsive. I've dealt with property managers at various condo buildings and apartment buildings, and Mount Vernon is by far the gold standard for property management.

0 stars. Horrible management. Danielle seems to not know which way is up. We have had ongoing issues with out apartment regarding cock roaches, the trash room (which is right next door to our apt), mildew and mold and their own employees using the parking space they make me pay for. We have had mildew in one of our cabinets for over a year and they are still "working on it". So we have a torn up cabinet and our pots/pans/ utensils all out of place everywhere in our kitchen for well over a week now. Also, the maintenance man accidentally told me about a pipe not working in our apartment that they needed to fix? And then the whole management team refused to say anything else about it. They also threaten late fees after 5 days of late rent but it is actually a tenant right on mass.gov that you cannot charge a late fee until after 30days of missed rent. Their system and manager is laughable. I highly recommend looking elsewhere to rent.

Can't say enough good things about MV - I've been in my apartment for a year and a half and top to bottom it's been an amazing experience. Stacey is extremely responsive with any questions about our building, apartment and parking - and the maintenance staff is incredibly kind and fast, they literally have fixed anything we need in under 24 hours. I've never felt unsafe or like my apartment is in bad condition because they constantly upkeep the units. While looking for new apartments it has been very challenging to find a place of the same caliber! Anyone would be lucky to live in one of their buildings.

I lived with them for two years and always received quick responses and never had any issues. I would definitely live at a Mount Vernon Company again. We mostly corresponded with Kenneth when there was an issue.
The only small negative is that I had to let them know fairly early (about 3 months before the end of the lease) about my decision to resign or not.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Maria M.Downtown, Boston, MA0102Jan 15, 2020Updated review

If you enjoy roaches crawling between your toes while you shower, then this is the place for you! They still haven't fixed the cockroach problem and it has been over 4 months now. They also never fix their washers so usually there is only one working washer for like 16 units.
Unfortunately I can't have family or friends visit bc it's honestly so embarrassing. Talked to the unit next to mine and she has our roach problem plus mice.
The pest control team said they can only do so much if the other units leave food out all day.
I understand Mount Vernon and their pest control team can't control other people's filth but they could definitely afford more aggressive pest control treatment with the rent prices they charge.
All in all, we initially really liked this apartment because of the location (my husband is a physician and it is really close to the hospitals). My advice to you- pay the broker fee and go into a building with less units/college students if you value your health and sanity.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank you for your feedback Maria, I'm sorry for the negative experience during your tenancy! We certainly share your concern and we take pest control issues very seriously. Our management team works to resolve these and any other maintenance items as quickly as possible, I'm sorry again for the trouble you endured.
Sep 23, 2019Previous review40-44 Parker hill Ave. The management team is great at addressing issues upon request. However, there is an ongoing problem with roaches and bed bugs on the property. Probably due to people using this place like a hotel. A lot of times you see 10 different faces going in/out of the same apartment.

The Mount Vernon Company is incredible. Property manager Stacey is really a very kind and communicative person. She wants to help and ensures that all of your needs are met and attended to - to the best of her ability. She gives out treats on the residents on holidays (which is just so fun and darling). Brian (maintenance) is also a very kind person who is SO helpful. Overall, my experience with the company has been nothing but great, I hihly recommend them and am grateful I lived under their management for as long as I did.

I lived at 1848 Comm. Ave for a bit over a year and a half and have really loved my experience. When I moved in, I was really surprised to see some of the reviews here, since I had nothing but an easy move and a very simple acclimation to Boston living. I've had a few hiccups with the apartment over time, which is to be expected with such an old building, but maintenance has always been extremely responsive and friendly to work with. They've also taken the time to replace certain things in the apartment while they've done other work. Most recently, I had a brand new sink and cabinet fitted (without me requesting one) when a pipe above my bathroom started leaking.
The rent has always been reasonable, and only increased $25 when I renewed. It was a great apartment, and I'll be sad to leave it!
That being said, for various reasons, I needed to move before the end of my lease in Sept. I signed my new lease, had a lease takeover worked out, and then the new tenant fell through. Ken, the property manager, managed to work things out so that I can indeed move into my new place without worry. He's been a fantastic manager the entire time - responsive, helpful, and friendly. I've lived in many other apartments for more rent and half the service. I don't have anything bad to say about my experience here!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
