A Gem in Lawrence!
My partner and I ventured to 715 on the night of a KU basketball game, wisely making a reservation to secure our spot in the bustling restaurant. Even at 4 o'clock, the place was abuzz with energy, a testament to its popularity among locals and visitors alike.
Arriving just after restaurant week, we were thrilled to find the special menu still on offer, presenting us with a plethora of options to explore. The extensive menu, particularly the small plates selection, piqued our interest, as we relish sharing our culinary adventures.
Opting for a pre-game nibble, we indulged in two margaritas, though slightly steep at $14 each, they delivered on taste, albeit in a more traditional fashion. Our taste journey truly began with the Brussels sprouts, a flavorful delight heightened by the unexpected addition of golden raisins? adding a delightful contrast.
The chorizo, romesco, and date dish emerged as the star of our dining experience, offering a symphony of flavors and textures that left us craving more. Each bite was a revelation.
Service was commendable, with our server delivering attentive care, but it was the discreet efficiency of the manager that truly impressed us. Her seamless orchestration of the dining experience, from table clearings to bill assistance, ensured a smooth and enjoyable meal for all patrons.
715 left an indelible mark on us, igniting a desire to return and explore more of its culinary offerings on our next visit to Lawrence. With its diverse menu, impeccable service, and vibrant ambiance, 715 stands out as a must-visit destination in the heart of Kansas.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - 17162290Apr 18, 2024
A very nice first visit to this popular spot in downtown Lawrence. We enjoyed alfresco dining on their large on street patio. It was a beautiful April evening and when we arrived at 6:30 on a Wednesday it was very busy. I'm not sure if the volume of customers was unanticipated, but it appeared that they might have been understaffed. More on that later.
Our cocktails (one signature and one standard) were very nicely done and well presented. For starters we enjoyed their famous Brussels which were absolutely incredible and the goat cheese croquettes which were also super tasty. We shared a very generous portion of the braised beef and pork ragu over lumache (which we requested special as it is normally served with penne). From an experienced Italian cook I can attest that is was very authentically prepared. We also shared a house salad that we agreed was pretty lackluster. My wife loved the very creative Sprinkle Bitch dessert to end the night.
The real miss here I have to say falls on the service side. First off it was my wife's birthday which I listed on their online booking platform. There was never a mention or acknowledgement or anything done special with regard to that. Secondly, our server Jess who was perfectly pleasant in every way was either having an off night or was over tasked because she was largely inattentive and slow even to just take and deliver initial cocktails, our main order, etc. We saw firsthand several of her tables having bar backs or bus boys bring out cocktails (including one of ours) and desserts.
In summary, great food but not great on personal service which is why I went with only 4 stars.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kris P.Lawrence, KS035Jan 28, 2024
Ok. We love coming downtown to eat and only come to 715 on special occasions but no more! Nope not gonna do it
Service is excellent
Vibe inside is excellent
Menu odd
PRICES are outrageous and not sure who sits back there and decides but holy cow. I dont mind paying high prices for a great meal and know this place is overpriced.
Went last friday night and asked if I should get pork schnitzel or chicken parm. Waiter said parm. Of course it was 37.00! For chicken? Really? So ordered it and basically a deep fried chicken as stated on menu w not so flavorful sauce. And was over-fried as well. Ate half and brought rest home but didnt eat it. On top of that it was chicken thigh not breast! Who makes chicken parm from thigh meat and charges 37 bucks! Menu also stated crispy goat cheese risotto and i have eaten risotto many many times but these looked liked grits for some reason.
I can picture Gordan Ramsey on Kitchen nightmares taking one bite and being disgusted and sending it back which is what I should have done.
Never going back as there are so many other great places downtown w great food and prices.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 1 - Apr 12, 2024Updated review
My husband and I stopped in last night for HH and an early dinner. We sat at the bar and the bartender was super attentive and answered my many questions. We ordered a pizza and potato gnocchi both were very fresh and delicious. Again, the drinks did not disappoint and were fantastic. This is a lovely place to eat and drink give it a try if you haven't. It does get a bit crowded but that just means it's a great place!!

It was our first visit which I was excited about because it's been on my wish list for awhile. It was crowded and we found seating at the bar which is our preference. The bartender was attentive and waited on us promptly. We ordered a $25. bottle of Malbec which was a reasonable price and quite good. Then we ordered dinner, Lasagna Bolognese for me and BBQ Octopus for my husband. The Lasagna Bolognese was tasty but underwhelming. It had 11 layers of noodles with nothing in between. The other ingredients; sauce, beef, pork and cheese were all on top. I was looking for a little something in between. The Octopus was a bit of the same. Little bit of Octopus and a lot of bread. That being said it was still tasty. After dinner we ordered a drink.... This was the grand prize of dinner!!! My husband ordered the Coyote which has Rosemary Rye and other yummy ingredients and I ordered an Aperol Spritzer. They were both superb. We will definitely be back to sample some more unique drinks and give the eats another try.

10/10 ambience and atmosphere.
10/10 happy hour menu
10/10 quality of food
10/10 service
I don't get over to Lawrence very often, and this spot makes me feel like I should come so much more. I couldn't be more excited to have stumbled into this by accident.
We were getting the munchies and a lot of the restaurants don't open till four. This one had just opened up and had an excellent happy hour menu. We sat at the bar, but there is literally no bad spot. Someone extremely talented elegantly designed the outdoor seating, and curated an intimate but fun vibe.
We only had a couple appetizers, but I have to say I am obsessed with the goat cheese croquettes. There are only three to a dish, so I'll tell you may have to order multiple for a table. But so wonderfully price for happy hour I'm OK with it. I don't think I can ever come back here not order them. Heaven. Absolutely heaven.
The bartenders and servers were so friendly. If you find yourself in Lawrence during their happy hour, it's a slam dunk! A Must try. This also looks like a wonderful date spot at night. I can only imagine the way they light it up and set the mood.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Dec 18, 2023
Always a warm environment paired with great service and delicious food. One of the best happy hours around, including a large list nibbles and fabulously priced drinks. Have never had a less than wonderful visit to 715!

This is simply our favorite restaurant in town. The food is excellent. The menu subtly changes so there are always options along with regular favorites. Staff is friendly and skilled. It can be crowded, so reservations are really a great idea. But, even if you squeeze into the bar and grab a bite, the experience will be awesome. If the weather is good, grab a table outside and watch the happenings on Massachusetts Street. You might feel like you are in Europe.

I love 715! We made a reservation here after going to the KU Basketball game and it was delish! I went to KU and loved going here when we had ti opportunity. This time visiting, I took my fiancee for his first experience. The staff is so nice and our waitress was awesome. We had a 5:00 pm reservation and it was packed when we arrived. I'm so glad we thought ahead and made the reservation. It was also awesome to see them so busy on a Saturday night. We are still talking about the food. I can't wait to go back over the summer to enjoy their outdoor seating. If you are in KC but visit LFK for the day, I highly recommend visiting 715!

Grabbed dinner to celebrate our anniversary at 715. We made reservations, and I'm glad we did because it got busy while we were there. They have well priced wines and some fun cocktails. We asked the server what he recommended and followed his suggestions. We shared the lamb lollipops, focaccia and the pasta with vodka sauce and shrimp. The serving of pasta was large enough to split - we even took some home. Everything was very good, but the pasta was the standout - it is a must order!
