Good comfort food! Can get slow during peak hours...but worth the wait! Kalbi is consistently good!

Food is great, however the service wasn't.
I understand mix ups happen which is fine but I didn't appreciate how the situation was handled with the employee giving out the food. My husband asked for new food since the people that the employee gave our food to opened it. The lady who gave out the order and who was on register said to one another in Tagalog that they didn't see the issue it's not like they ate it.
We were given new food but the way the employees continued to talk smack in Tagalog ruined the whole experience. It's not my fault the employee gave out the wrong order to the wrong people.
Won't be coming back here again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 557292738Feb 25, 2023
I used to go to Ono Hawaiian A LOT years ago. It was easy hearty takeout. Recently they mailed some BOGO coupons to my house and I noticed they have a couple of new items on the menu:
Island fire chicken
Melemele curry chicken
Both items were spicy but the melemele curry was spicier yet the island fire chicken tasted better. Both were awesome as a salad with their shredded cabbage. The plate also comes with mac salad and rice but if you're trying to eat clean, this makes a great leftover fried rice for kiddo.
We also got our standard island fried fish and chicken katsu. I mean you can't go wrong with the classics. Ordering was super easy. The wait wasn't that bad, maybe 10 minutes. You can wait comfortably in their large dining space. It's pretty clean too. The parking lot is a little small and always packed but I usually go around towards Target to avoid all the craziness.
Hoping to get more BOGO coupons! At that price, it's an absolute steal!!Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jan 31, 2023
I'm surprised by the low rating here. This by far is the best Ono location I've been to. The online ordering process was easy and my food was ready on time for pickup as promised. I also ordered an extra item in-person, and the wait was not long at all.
I didn't look at the food until I got home, but I could feel that they were packed! And I was right. So much food in each box and it all looked delicious.
Melemele curry chicken (5/5): I'm loving this new item! The curry had a spicy kick that was so fragrant and addicting. I would order this again.
Hawaiian bbq mix (4.5/5): short rib, bbq beef and bbq chicken. Such a classic dish and I always order this one. The meat juice mixing with the veggies was also delish! Wish there was a bit more beef though.
Kalua combo (4/5): kalua pork and chicken katsu. This is my other go-to order. The kalua pork was a little dry this time, but the chicken katsu was juicy and crispy!Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 0Business owner information

I had to take off a few stars today based on my experience with the staff this past visit. I called a few times to order for pick up and each time they either hung up or put me on hold for over ten minutes. After I got to Ono's to pick up the food I paid and waited for about another 20 minutes. I started to notice people who ordered after me were getting their food. So I asked the cashier when my food was going to be ready. Once she looked at my receipt she said it's been ready for a while. My food was sitting out for a long time and they never called my number. My food was cold by the time I got it. Such a disappointing experience.

Dec 24, 2022Previous reviewI got the Island Fire Chicken with all mac. I upgraded it to a meal so I got a side of crab ragoons and fruit punch drink. The chicken was moist and coated in a mild red sauce. The crab ragoons are basically wonton wrappers filled with a crab and cream cheese mixture which I loved.
My boyfriend also got the combo plate which included all different types of meet. Unfortunately, we found a piece of plastic in the combo plate so that was a bummer. Other than that the food was fine. The regular meal is super filling so you might what to get the mini meal instead. - Anna V.San Francisco, CA2885Apr 24, 2024Updated review
we have ordered here many times but the last order my husband picked up came with an extra guest. it was a roach. for days I waited to see if more of them would appear but nope i don't think roaches were my apartment's problem because i have never had them!! I was so grossed out that i won't be going back!

I had the pleasure of dining at Ono Hawaiian BBQ, conveniently nestled near the shopping center in Colma. My wife had mentioned this place before, and finally, we decided to check it out. We arrived around 7 pm, and to our delight, the restaurant was not too crowded.
The friendly employee behind the counter kindly took our order. I opted for the BBQ & Katsu mix plate, while my wife went for the mini BBQ Beef. The verdict? The food was absolutely outstanding! The portion sizes were impressively generous, and the flavors were on point. I'd definitely come back for more the next time I'm craving some Hawaiian food.
This place not only delivers good dishes but they also provide a good service and a welcoming atmosphere. I'd recommend this place if you're craving some Hawaiian BBQ.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 18, 2023
This Ono Hawaiian BBQ location serves generous portions of freshly barbecued Hawaiian food at an affordable price. Every time I've been here the interior is kept clean and nice. The interior is spacious with a good number of tables. The workers are quite friendly as well and ensure that the sauces and utensils are always stocked. The portions here are quite large and the overall quality of the food is quite good. They go very well with the variety of sauces they provide here such as tar tar, sriracha, mustard, soy , katsu, and teriyaki. From time to time, they have some pretty great deals as well.

Love Ono! Huge portions and great prices. Last time I went they were running a promotion of $6 for a white fish aloha plate - super good deal. The katsu and bbq combo is also SO much meat for less than $15. Mac salad is A+++, would sub every side for mac salad if I could. I also tried the spam musubi which was pretty decent.
Employees at this location are also pretty friendly and service is good.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0
