HartBeat Ensemble recently took over the Carriage House Theater, previously used by Hartford Children's Theatre. They've made some cosmetic changes to make it feel warmer, more inviting.
Besides plays, HartBeat Ensemble has used the space to host concerts and improv performances, along with dramatic readings. They have a Happy Hour about once per month which is followed with a play reading and talk.
There is no full concession stand. They have had cheese and veggie plates at the Happy Hour. At a recent performance, they had some snacks available. This isn't ideal, but there are some great nearby restaurants to hit up before/after performances (Fire & Spice, Abyssinian, Ichiban, and Monte Alban, to name a few).
There is ample free parking between the Twain House lot and on-street parking. They do have closer parking for those needing handicapped spaces.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Angela D.Vernon, CT211Dec 2, 2016
Ebaneeza now playing in Hartford at the Carriage House Theater was absolutely amazing!!! I can't praise this production enough. Very relevant to today's times, politics, current issues, cultural issues from the 1950s to today, local Hartford events and a little Mark Twain thrown in to boot! The cast was so energetic, enthusiastic and funny! Everyone did a fabulous job. I let my emotions flow with the show, laughed and nearly cried too. It really pulled at my heart strings. Hart Beat ensemble is not to be missed! And best of all free, safe parking across the street. People with mobility issues can easily be dropped off at the door. A small theatre with a big presence. Small concession table. And tickets only $25 with a policy that no one is ever turned away for lack of funds.
