Q:
Is there a dress code for dinner ? Any shorts allowed .. Thanks !
A:
I've never seen a dress code posted. But this is an expensive fine dining spot and shorts, T shirts and flip flops will be grossly out of place. Most men wear pants and shirts with collars and women wear dress pants and tops or dresses. If you want… more

Gideon Ridge is a very special place. I've lived in the High Country the majority of my life & the view from the sunroom will leave you in awe. I'm a classically trained chef (Johnson & Wales - Charleston, SC 2003) & can't stop thinking about the presentation, flavors & textures on each plate.
Chef Hunter Womble creates menus that incorporate & highlight local ingredients. Each dish he offered was perfectly balanced, comforting & seasoned to perfection. His ambition coupled with his rare talent gives Blowing Rock a true dining experience that rivals some of the best restaurants in the USA.
I can't wait to try more offerings as the seasons change. Reservations are required.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Tom S.Austin, TX299113Apr 22, 2024
Truly exceptional. Plan your reservation around sunset. The view is beyond belief. Impressive wine list. Very thoughtful menu. Come early for a cocktail. Well worth it. Great service. It will be a highlight of your Blowing Rock experience.

Excellent meal here tonight. Jeremy was our server and he made wonderful recommendations. I really DID have the best pork chop of my life. The chef came out before dinner to describe a few of the seasonal appetizers. We ordered both of them. Boy was that calamari amazing! The pork cheek was very good as well.

One of the best food experiences we've had in a while! Everything from the ambiance, the restaurant, the service and the food! We started our meal with the pork belly appetizer and the cauliflower and caramelized onion bisque- never knew I loved cauliflower until that moment! If all the cauliflower tastes like that I'll eat it everyday! Later the chef came by and gave us his recommendations. Based on that we decided to try the scallop dish and the venison! Both were perfectly cooked, tender and flavorful! At the end we knew we should share a dessert but couldn't decide- so we went with hubby's favorite, creme brulee, and the recommendation, trio beurre! Can't tell you which one was better- all of it was heavenly! It was one of those meals where you walk away from the restaurant with a big smile feeling like you are on cloud nine! My only regret- not getting there earlier to see the amazing views!

We had a fantastic dining experience here. Our waiter Anthony was amazing, he made great recommendations and was there when you wanted him to be. The ambiance and views are off the hook as well! We got the pork belly appetizer which was right on point with the flavor and crispness. I had the scallops which were seared to perfection and not over cooked, it came with a turnip purée and root vegetables that were all done just right. My wife had the duck breast ordered medium rare. It was a beautiful presentation but the meat was very tough and difficult to cut or eat. It was served sliced by the chef, so not sure why it left the kitchen because the chef had to know how tough it was. It was still pretty rare so we will try to heat it to medium rare or so at home to see if it helps. These things happen. so felt we should let you know.

An amazing dining experience with some of the best food and drinks we have ever had, kind staff tarnished only by a passive aggressive manager who didn't trust her employees. We arrived about 30 mins before our reservation to enjoy a drink and the views. The hostess asked our name, I gave her my first and last and said reservations were at 8pm, she was looking for our reservation and the manager stepped over and took control and preceded to assume we actually didn't have a reservation and bypassed us to address the two guests behind us. I was frantically looking for my reservation number to prove I did indeed have a reservation because she wouldn't address us until I did. The hostess locates it and realized my reservation was under the same first name as I gave but my middle name instead of last. The manager then proceeded to lecture me on how to change my resy account to my last name. (Which I have no desire to do) it was a simple oversight that I feel like could have been easily resolved. (How many resy's for Jason at 8 pm were there) So reservation was found and we were told "they seat right in time, not early, so we can wait". We enjoyed a drink from the bar which took roughly 20 mins to get because there was one bar tender serving the entire restaurant. He was working hard and doing well but it would seem having another to help him would create better service. We were seated at 8:15 and things went smooth from there.
Food was amazing, server Nick, was perfect and chef was fantastic.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Julia R.Durham, NC2009541May 31, 2023
We came here the past two nights in a row because we could not get enough. This is a true fine dining restaurant with perfect service and perfect food. The views and ambiance of the dining room, sitting room/library, bar, gardens, and terraces are absolutely glorious! Over two nights we had: escargot app, crab/lobster cake app, pork belly app, salad 2nd course, soup 2nd course, swordfish entree, duck entree, apple strudel dessert, and chocolate torte dessert. All of the ingredients had beautiful, fresh flavors that complimented one another superbly, and the presentation was impeccable. Hard to pick favorites, but I think the salad and entrees were my favorite dishes. Swordfish and duck were truly outstanding. The service is top notch, fine dining, but the staff is a lot of adorable young people who give off a relaxed and fun vibe while still being refined and excellent servers. The bartender is very easy on the eyes and sweet. I can't wait until I can stay at the inn! It was all booked up for my dates this time around. Our only comments for the management/etc. were that the tables are a little sticky--cleaning product reacting with the finish? Maybe something to look into. Also, female manager person runs around the dining room and sitting room a lot, frenetically busy, and kind of staring at us in a suspicious, unfriendly way both times we were there--made us uncomfortable--unpleasant vibes from her and did not feel welcome.
