I called Kensington Pediatric Dentistry for the first time last year when my eldest son was two and a half years old. Their staff was more than friendly, polite and efficient on the phone. I was able to quickly make an appointment with Dr. Steph. My son, up to that point, was not "easy" in allowing us to brush his teeth- let alone floss his teeth. Brushing was such a difficult part of our bedtime routine. This was one of my main concerns that I planned to speak with Dr. Steph about.
The location is very convenient right off of the 8 and 15 freeways.
Parking was a breeze- there was ample street parking in addition to the two parking lots next to and across from the office. I easily found a street parking spot right in front of the office.
Upon entering their office- I have to say I have never seen a dental office so perfectly put together for children. There is a HUGE salt water tank in the waiting room along with several sections for kids to play. And- iPads! Conveniently set up at children's eye level with plenty of apps for the kids. There is a flat screen television as well.
You'd never know there were children in and out all day as the waiting area it was impeccably spotless. I am very particular when it comes to allowing my kids to play with toys in doctors' offices, etc- but I had zero problem here. All of the toys were undeniably clean. I have to also comment on the front desk staff- they were very friendly and courteous- just as they were when I called to make the appt. They provided me with the paperwork I needed to complete which was clear and concise. Just a side note- these forms can also be found conveniently on their website.
It was difficult to pull my son away from the waiting area to go into his appointment because he was having such a great time playing!
As we were led back to the examination area- we were greeted by a huge open room with gorgeous murals on the wall. It is VERY clear to see the time, thought, care and attention to detail that Dr.
Steph and Dr. Eric (husband and wife pediatric dentist team) invested into the state-of-the-art design and technology of their office. No detail was left undone. Each examination area had a private flat screen television set up in the ceiling with a variety of kids' movies with headphones! Not to mention that the surroundings were extremely spotless and immaculate.
As I mentioned, my son was very apprehensive about getting his teeth examined but Dr. Steph was able to patiently and kindly calm him and complete his examination. It is clear that she has a genuine "magic touch with children". My son was then able to pick out a gift from the treasure chest for being a great little patient! She gave me wonderful advice and provided many suggestions about how to ease the twice daily task of brushing and flossing. All of which I have implemented- and it's like night and day. My son now easily brushes (for two minutes I might add- with the help of the hourglass timer Dr. Steph gave us) and flosses to get rid of the
"sugar buggies".
That was six months ago and my eldest son (now three years old) and my youngest (now two years old) both just had their bi-annual examinations. My older son was completely at ease and my youngest son was having such a great time watching "Cars" on the ceiling flat screen TV that he forgot all about the visit! I can't say enough how much I am impressed with the unparalleled setting, the quality of the dental staff and most importantly Dr. Steph herself.
My boys will be going to Kensington Pediatric Dentistry until they grow up!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Courtney M.El Cajon, CA041Apr 9, 2024
My daughter and I always have a great experience here for both ortho and pediatrics. Between the front staff, assistants and Drs everyone is always so kind and accommodating especially for my daughter's busy school schedule. The office is always clean and inviting and they have a really nice fish tank. I highly recommend Kensington Pediatric Dentistry!

If you care about your children's teeth, please stay away from here. I had to bring my children to my dentist to get a second opinion regarding their teeth. To say my dentist was shocked is an understatement. My kids had decay. Decay that doesn't not occur in a 6 month period (my kids visit the dentist every 6 months). On top of that, her most recent filling she got done with them in Oct.2022 had decay underneath. Meaning, it was not cleaned out properly when it was done and the decay was growing.
I'm so thankful it is their baby teeth, but absolutely infuriated. Please take your children to another practice and steer clear from this one.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Andree E.La Mesa, CA01535Aug 31, 2022Updated review

Impatient!
I have been taking my son here since 2016 and have never had an issue.
Something changed.
We saw Dr.Eric for the initial exam and he was thorough with his exam and explained the problems and issues my son needed to be scheduled for.
There was quite a bit of work so he informed us that if we decided to have the work done by him he could probably finish all the work in one future visit But if we went with someone else it may take two visits.
Dr. Eric is there once or something per month so we waited for over a month to make the appt with him
Fast forward to the day of the appt.
The front desk gave me a quote for two separate days of treatment. I told her that Dr.Eric said he was going to attempt all work in one visit. The front desk girl kept saying "per mother she wants all the work done today" I kept correcting her several times as she was relaying to her co workers that I was being pushy. Again I overheard her tell the dental assistant "per mother" and I corrected her again. Annoying and rude.
Now for Dr.Eric.
Seemed to have a whole different Dr. Eric than the one that was nice and patient and up beat from the initial exam appt.
My son had a loose tooth in the front that was still pretty attached to his gums and it was still hurting to loosen.
My son was also given laughing gas and shots to numb.
My son was not comfortable with the face mask administering the laughing gas and I don't believe they let the shots to numb to be in full effect before they started working on him.
My son is 8 and rarely cries. He was expressing he was in pain and Dr.Eric was getting upset and compared him to younger kids and then told him if he doesn't relax they will have to send his mommy out of the room. And all in an irritated tone.
The gas mask was leaving lines around his nose and mouth maybe implying that the mask may have been placed on too tight.
So as Dr.Eric proceeds noah starts choking on something and screams... his loose tooth (that was still attached to his gum) was pushed hard enough to be removed and he was choking on it. While Dr.Eric was irritated repositioning the gas mask.
My son is not used to breathing just through his nostrils so yes he was uncomfortable.
Dr Eric was agitated the entire time.
A fake "thank you were all done"
You work with kids Dr.Eric! I'm sure you've had younger children in your dentist chair. Whether you were frustrated or irritated... it could have been handled much better.
I'm scared for others.
I can't remember the female Dr my son used to have but she was much more understanding and patient. As my son had been going to Kensington since he was 3. He was put under by the other dentist and I never felt like we weren't in good hands with the other dentist.
We won't be returning!
Oh yes and i had to chase the front to send me the quote for work after the first appt. I called after a few days to allow some time and again.... I was being told she "believed" it was sent and tried to make me feel like it was me.
So I said okay then please resend the initial email. And she couldn't because why?!!! She never sent it!
This dental office did not leave this mother feeling like her child was in the best care and there was no way I was going to leave my son in the room without me.
And I recommend that no one else does if they have impatient Dr.Eric.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 1 - Sadie S.San Diego, CA0205Oct 5, 2022
Just learned Dr. Bri is leaving the practice when they cancel to cancel our appointment with her. She is terrific and we would follow her to another location. They wouldn't say where she will be working next or if she is taking a break or leaving dentistry altogether. Does anyone know?

The worst experience by far by any so called medical professionals. After my daughter check up the clinic was overpayed by my insurance company who were then waiting for their repayment before any of my family members could get another dental appointment. They didn't pay back for months and then made us wait 3 months to get an appointment to fix my daughter's teeth. My husband had asked why they thought it was appropriate to keep money that wasn't theirs because it was affecting our whole family and they had no answer just a snobby attitude. We were called the day before my daughter appointment to make sure she had nothing to eat or drink the night before and when we arrived 30 mins before our appointment the made us wait a further 2 hrs past her appointment time. My daughter is non verbal and autistic and was really just doing her best to wait in the waiting room. But then I noticed something in those two hour. All the patients and their parents were allowed to go inside a different area while they made us wait in the front entrance. They had told us we weren't allowed to go in with our child and we had to wait in the outer waiting room. Then we had weird looks from the receptionists and other patienst passing by, we were told it won't be long. We were kept waiting thinking maybe it's alittle busy, my british sensibility wont let me see bad in people even when they are making it obvious. By around 12pm the dentist came out and told us because her staff felt uncomfortable around my husband that they we were not going to be seen. I asked why they didnt inform me ahead of time or ask for just me to attend, the white female dentist stated it was her decision. I was obviously fuming because they could have just told us this the day before when the anesthesiologist had called. Or even when we first arrived but it was like they were trying to punish our daughter for their discomfort. A little 5 year old who hadn't don't anything to them and I for one certainly hadn't said a bad word to them. My husband had questions that were not answered and that made them feel uncomfortable? I was beyond angry and told them they should all feel ashamed of themselves and perhaps I should have recorded this whole incident on my phone ( which I didn't because they had a sign miraculous apprear that day that stated no recording). The dentist ran off with her tail between her legs and we were escorted out by the same bully receptionist who had said she felt uncomfortable. She added condescendingly to have a "good day".
We are a black and hispanic household and my husband is a disabled veteran with ptsd so we already didn't feel like we blended in with their usual customer base which consisted of mostly white higher social class preppy moms. I wouldn't recommend this place if you want to be treated like a genuine humanbeing. I really am quite disappointed that they treated my family this way and hope no one else ever has to experince this treatment.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 2 - Faith J.Marina del Rey, CA06Mar 28, 2023

This place is amazing they make you feel comfortable and at ease even during the restrictions of Covid! Dr. Brea goes the extra mile
And calls to check up on your child after any procedure or appointment it doesn't matter how small the procedure is or if it's just for a check up she cares deeply for the health and well-being of her patients!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Janelle M.Parker, CO21415088May 8, 2019
This is as good as it gets. I am just blown away! Our daughter has autism with heightened oral sensitivity. She is also terrified of new people. Dr. Bree was absolutely fantastic. She has clearly worked with many ASD kids before and is a mom. It made a huge difference. She didn't force our daughter to go any further than she could and was very understanding of limitations. She also was undaunted by our daughter avoiding eye contact and being shy. She is an absolute rockstar. I am just so thrilled we found the perfect fit.
The office is beautiful. The staff is all friendly and helpful. The assistant that helped us out was also incredibly sweet and gave great tips. A friend told me that pediatric dentists were a must for kids. Now I understand why. What an incredible contrast. They just get it! I am a huge fan.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1
