Good drinks and great salads! I love their chicken mango salad. Make sure to put the dressing on the side since it's a lil thick and heavy. Ive been there more than three times and usually ordered that salad or their delicious wings. They have knowledgeable bartenders who know how to mix drinks well.
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the food can take a while at times. They've gotten better but haven't quite nailed that part down.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 134992713063Nov 1, 2018
27 Mix has the worst service I've experienced in New Jersey.
Our waitress had a terrible attitude, didn't provide place settings or napkins and ensured I wouldn't be a repeat customer. We were also blown off while trying to request silverware & a plates from a waitress tending a neighboring table. Instead of fulfilling our simple request, she dismissively offered to get the attention of our waitress instead.
My colleague ordered the black bean soup. Flavorless and watery was his description. I ordered the habanero wings as a shared appetizer. ..not bad, but certainly not noteworthy. We planned on staying for dinner, but after considering the awful service I paid the bill (without tipping & I always tip generously) and left.
Quite a few reviews mention poor service. I hope management addresses before it's too late.Helpful 24Thanks 0Love this 13Oh no 0 - Abena R.Bella Vista, AR76253863Sep 28, 2018
This place is a gem! Ive been here a few times and loved it. They have great happy hour food and drinks for great prices which i love!
Its located downtown so bus accessible. Parking is available and free after 6 on the streets. The parking fills up pretty quickly. Service is great!
I had the shrimp and couldn't resist ordering more! The sauce is so good!
Its also not too far from the train station.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Danyale W.Newark, NJ1162601063Apr 20, 2019
Having mixed feeling about this Resturant came here with the girls on my first occasion and got seated in the middle of the Resturant near the kitchen for a birthday dinner ... We really enjoyed the cocktails which were delicious , ribeye , shrimp appetizer and a few other dishes which everything was 5 star ...
Came back on the next occasion and sat at the bar only for a liquid diet and really enjoyed the cocktails YUM ...
But came on a third time and sat in the back and order hanger steak (which is probably where I went wrong) and veggies and tried out some cocktails and everything was horrible ... the drink combination of flavors were not there, the meat was flavorless and bland , I only finished the veggies ... and I vowed not to go back ... but maybe it was just a bad night I may stop by one day for a app and cocktail , after all my nail salon is in the area ...Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mishae M.Newark, NJ2576172Jan 26, 2017
Ive been here three times and it never disappoints, i only wish happy hour was longer because i get off work at 7 and always miss it. The food here is so good and i have had their drinks, quesadillas, sandwiches and most recently pasta, and each time and blown away by how wonderfully seasoned and fresh the food is, even their presentation is great.
The one thing id like to say to management though is, every time I've been here its only been one person serving as the host. waiter/waitress, and busboy, this establishment gets plenty of patrons and money, it makes no sense to have one person doing everything. The last time i was there my waiter was doing everything including going outside in the cold to restock the alcohol. I didnt like that at all and i tipped him very well.
This outdoor patio is also beautiful during the summer, all in all i highly recommend this place and am always raving about it even to co-workers, truly a gem in Newark.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Rona R.Accokeek, MD201122974Feb 22, 2017
My boyfriend and I came here with a groupon. The food was GREAT and the drinks were good as well! Would definitely be returning! Our waiter was very pleasant but not too knowledgeable, he was probably new.
The inside seating are is a bit snug, had it been nicer, we definitely wold have gone with outdoor seating. At first glance, the place looks nice and it is, but it could use a little more updating. The flooring was not leveled as our table and seats were wobbly. It was very distracting while we were trying to eat.
Again, I can'y emphasize how good the food was. The wings and dumplings were on point. Definitely looking forward to revisiting.
Overall, I'm rating them 4 stars because of the wobbly seating.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - JC B.Newark, NJ745718May 11, 2019Updated review
...due to the fact many acquaintances and friends have few or no other choices we tolerate this place. However that will change. We expect better, just like you would, no different standards. We have standards and higher expectations when we are dining, snacking and drinking in Newark!
Please improve the quality of service at the bar and kitchen standards, plus menu. The uncreative, inflexible kitchen and bar needs customer service training from Gordon Ramsey. Its about the customers always! Leave personal issues at the door...we are looking forward to improvements!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Sep 16, 2016Previous reviewThe bartender, a short haired, short black women with no bartending or social skills to match, was slow and unprofessional as she ignored information about IPA and our food order. The worst visit there ever! I've tried often to patronize but this awful bartender ruined my post gym beer!
Condescending, rude arrogance and slow in a ghost town bar is a sure sign of death!
This bartender needs a new job in the kitchen not with the public. The food came late, she finally realized they had no "ARROGANT BITCH" beer other than her attitude which was not for my taste. When I complained within my right she got worst like she was serving drinks at home....or at a lesbian bar!
I'm LGBT friendly but not stupid friendly!
We left and told everyone about this MIXX TRASH! Who is this witch ruining the bar at MIXX? I'm a grown man and have no patience for bad service, flat beer in a ghost town bar or cold food!
Newark downtown has enough challenges and does not need bad bigoted bartending and questionable food!!
MIXXED UP BARTENDER AND COLD FOOD NO THANK YOU! - Loancita C.Belleville, NJ523173May 21, 2016
I'm changing my review. This is not what it used to be... staff is SO RUDE ALL THE TIME. You need to do something with that girl you got in the front. When she's waitress I refused to seat in the back and when she's serving drinks I can't even sit at the bar because her attitude is just disgusting. The only person there that is always willing to help you is the chef vino.

I really liked the place. The food was Delicious! They did not have angry orchards but the bartender gave something else instead, I honestly forgot the name name but it was pretty good!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Melissa H.Newark, NJ1122Jul 5, 2019
Disappointed. I cannot understand a waitress that charges for a quarter cup of marinara sauce instead of the sauce served with their calamari. It is truly indicative of lack of consideration for good customer service.
Do better! You cannot keep loyal customers like that.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rachel M.West Orange, NJ28493Jan 14, 2019
Food: Ordered 2 of the salmon tartare, one was good, the other smelled like sewage. I'm not exactly sure how that happened except that maybe old salmon was used on one and then fresh salmon was used on the other. The good salmon tartare was delicious. The rest of the party order fried chicken sandwich, grilled chicken Caesar, pear aruguka salad, and spinach ravoli and enjoyed their food.
Service: 75% Yikes, 25% good
The Yikes: The server herself was something awful. I'm not sure if she was new or just not having a good night. She was rude and rushed us. In the beginning a different lady was supposed to be our server but then transferred to our current waitress (curly hair, may also work the bar). When they did the transition she rolled her eyes when she found out she had to take our table. Then...when we complained about the smelly salmon tartare (immediately after she out it on the table) she came back and said that it was fine. We politely said we still didn't want to take the chance...and then another eye roll from her.
The Good: some guy came by (don't know if he was the cook) and gave us grilled shrimp on the house. Unfortunately that was the only interaction we had with him.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
