Honestly can you beat 1 dollar slice pizza? You cant!

What I love about this place is not only the $1 Slices but also the pizza is extremely fresh. There has not been a time where ive been here that i havent had a piping hot slice. They are all fresh out of the oven and due to the popularity they are constantly being pumped out. I prefer this much more than the pizza that just sit under a heated lamp and wait all day to be purchased.

Every time i pass by two bros i always stop by for a slice.

Pizza for a buck?  OMG is it 1995 again?

Where can you really find $1 slices ANYWHERE in NYC anymore?  The upside of having $1 slices is that its A GREAT BARGAIN.  The UPPER side is that its SUPER FRESH.  The line moves fast and you're in and out before you know it.

Two slices and a soda for $2.50?  Can anyone really complain?

I've ordered PIES to go from this place and it was faster than Dominoes.  That's the perks of having constant business - you make the most of your oven!

Ah, neat! Pizza for a buck.

Kind of the same way I feel about H&M. It's like "Cool! A shirt for 10 bucks." Then a month later your new v-neck falls apart and you'd wish you just went to The Gap.

But, still, a buck!

When I worked by St. Mark's, lunch wasn't that cheap, but luckily there's this place! I mean $1 a slice? How awesome is that? You would think they wouldn't be making any business, but at the rate the line moves and the number of pies produced every half hour. They're racking up the dollar bills and we consumers are saving at the same time. So it's a win win for both sides. Oh if you go there with let say a 20 dollar bill, they won't give you your food if you're just going to buy one or two slices. When that happened to me, a nice stranger dude paid for my $1 slice. Thanks dude with the cool shades! =)

Lets just face the cold hard facts.  You can get two slices and a drink here for about what most pizza joints in the city charge for a single plain piece.

So the math checks out, but does the taste?  Well... it's a dollar slice, so you're not gonna have your mind blown.  But it's money well spent for sure.  And if you want it to taste even better, add seven to ten beers before hand.  That's some MORE math that adds up for ya.

OK.
This place gets 5 stars for one easy reason. It's 2 GREAT NY slices AND a can of soda for under $3. This has got to be one of...if not, the BEST fast food deal in NYC.
After a desperate attempt to calm the raging hunger in my belly a few weeks ago at Famous Famiglia and reminding myself what a dump that place is, it was totally refreshing to re-discover this new gem today.
Again, like last week, I was starving, running late, and needing to cram food in my gullet and get on my way. I was on my way to San Loco and thought, "You know what? Why not just slam down a couple of slices? It'll be faster and cheaper." Happy I did.
In the spirit of, "It's better to make a fast quarter than a slow dollar", 2 Bros knows that they have the sickest deal in town. And they plan accordingly. You walk through the door and there are 5 fresh hot, right out of the oven, pies ready to be sliced and served up.
Now you'd think that with the price that they'd be sub-standard slices. They are NOT. They are pretty damn good. The sauce is sweet. The crust is doughy and soft with wonderfully easy to eat "bones" at the end. They are two really standard high quality NY slices.....AND a soda for UNDER $3!!!
So....if you're in the East Village, you want to refuel on the cheap before you blow out our wallet at some expensive hipster bar (guilty), this is the place to go.
Welcome to NY 2 Bros....we're happy to have you!

Great food when you are drunk, in a hurry and/or broke. 2 slices with 1 can of soda for $2.50. Even McDonald's can't beat this deal!

I tried their cheese and pepperoni slices; they are OK. Nothing amazing to write about but just for the fact it is so cheap, quick and tastes OK and great to my wallet. I will recommend to all drunkards :)

I didn't get the combo (this time around). but if $2.75'll get you two slices and a soda versus one so-so slice elsewhere, that's hard to beat.
Recession be damned, it's PIZZA TIME!

Food: Kind of hard to rate, the slices itself are horrid. The dough and crust are chewy, kinda like gum, absolutely no crunch. The sauce is too heavy for the pie, makes the slice soggy. Cheese is watery. Then the pizza is always freshly made since turnover is insane over here. But what good is a low quality, fresh pizza? Then you factor in the price, seriously a buck.

Drink: Can soda. With the combo it's 75cents.

Service: Long lines but fast moving, no service provided.

Ambiance: Too hot during the summer, can't possibly sit in there with all the ovens on full blast churning out pies. Uncomfortably low seats and dirty seating anyway. Grab a combo and eat outside.

Great for the price, pizza is always fresh. Don't go in expecting a gourmet slice and you'll be pleasantly surprised. Their specials (combos) are cool as well. At $1.00 a slice there is no need to complain.

Heads up: Scilian is definitely the way to go, the best value is getting the combo for $2.75 which is basically two slices and a soda. Lines are long (uh, did I mention its $1 per slice?) so it'll take you about 10 minutes at most to get in and out with your slice.

$2.75 for a filling 2 slices and can of soda.

Is the pizza great? No. Is it pretty good? yes. Is it awesome for the price? absolutely

It is a bit bland, but I'd rather have a bit bland than lots of gross, overwhelming flavor. It's pretty tasty with some hot peppers. And besides, it's a fucking dollar a slice!

Saw this place while walking on St. Marks and couldn't help but notice, $2.75 for two slices & a soda? Sure why not!? ($1 per slice otherwise)

Plain pizza done right, soft & chewy and one hell of a deal. Compared to other pizzas its nothing special however being the immediate area's best bang for buck, its probably the reason why people keep coming, let alone its near NYU.

Get your pizza quick and move along. Must also taste godly when your inebriated, but what food doesn't?

So, after a successful venture to the new branch on 6th Ave, I had to come back to the original to make sure that things were truly comparable, as according to my review. Were they? Yup, maybe even better.

(Ok, so this is my cheesy way of squeezing another review out of the same place)

Three words (this time):

DOLLAR
FREAKIN'
SLICE

Is it the best pizza in NY? Um, no.
Is it the worst? Um, not by a longshot.

This branch has more homeless people per capita and a dusting of condiments on the eating ledge, but whatever. The pizza is decent and it costs... A BUCK.

It's really almost free.

Oh, and that dude below or above (wherever) with the one-star review talking about Ray's? Their pizza sucks and it costs three times the price. You can't complain about not getting the freshest pie at dollar-slice place, dude. DOLLAR SLICE. And worse yet, that Ray's is of those places claiming to be the "real original famous" Ray's but isn't. Double nix.

Sheesh. Out of towners!

P.S. And I must add one thing, the "$1 slice" price is supposedly their "grand opening special".  Yep.  They also opened more than six months ago. Ha. Pretty special!

The guys who work there couldn't get any more rude or unresponsive, but who gives a shit -- the pizza is $1!!

I usually get two slices and a can for $2.75 (I think that's the price), and literally sit in the gutter and have my lunch there.
Nearby stores and storefronts with steps or benches discourage people to eat there, but those places always end up splattered with pizza shit.

When you don't have a job, when you don't have much money and when you work and/ or study in Manhattan, the fact of eating out is expensive, but oh no, not with 2 bros pizza, it's a great location (st. marks) and a a huge area, the line is long (is 1 dollar slice) and trust me the waiting is worth it.
The pizza is fresh and they have this special which 2 slices and one can of soda for 2.75, that is pretty cool. Also, for being so cheap, you can go inside and chill while you eat, the staff isn't always rushing you out, you can relax inside and that is a plus.

Preface/background: I eat more than average in terms of quantity (I've eaten 2 Chipotle Burritos in one sitting) but appreciate quality and am always looking for a great deal.

$1 (out the door) Cheese Pizza slice.  It's a great bargain.  Taste quality is sub-par and below average compared to a good NY pizza slice, but for $1, it's a quick and hot (temperature-wise) bite to eat.  The special is $2.75 for 2 slices and a soda.

It's a small shop, there are places to sit in the back, and a small place to stand in the front (with napkins, Parmesan cheese, and peppers).

I would only go if I was in a rush to get somewhere or just wanted a quick cheap bite to eat.  For $1 a slice (no tax), I would see this as a staple for anyone who lived in the area and/or was on a budget.

This is the best pizza that I have ever tasted in my life.  O man...and for 1 dollar.  Granted I am from So Cal and when I was in NY for the first time I went looking for the pizza.

My NY friends really think I am trippin cuz I keep saying this place has good pizza.  They say I should check out some other places that have woodfired grills, or whatever.

But in my opinion 2 bros pizza is number 1.

Why?

First off, its 1 dollar pizza slices.
Second, for some reason its super delicious.  I dont know what they do to their pizza (maybe sprinkle some crack in there), it doesnt seem like anything special but man, it is real good.  Atleast try it before you pass judgment, it is after all only a dollar.

Yes, you can probably (no, definitely) get better pizza on St. Marks Place. No, it won't be as horrifically cheap as it is here. $2.75 will get you two slices and a can of your choice of soda and while the pizza is kind of bland, it is fresh and certainly doesn't taste bad. The value gives this place five stars, though it's not nearly as gross as it initially seems like it would be.

Two slices and a soda. $2.75.

The slices are a dollar. If you're really price shopping for pizza, then you don't get to be all Mr. New York Pizza Connoisseur. It's a dollar.

The lines can get a bit long....with people waiting to get a slice for a dollar.

The slices aren't bad. It's a decent sized slice and it's better than some of the best pizza you've had in non-good pizza cities like Vegas or Miami.
Crappy NY pizza is better than good lots of other cities. Fact.

If you just had a Sushi dinner in the village and are still not full, stop by and grab a slice for a measly $1. Hell, have two if you're really hungry.

As-far-as the pizza goes, they are always coming out of the oven piping hot. I'd rather have mine a little crispier, but whatever, I'll take it.

Stumbled upon this place when I was in the city today. Stopped for a slice and a soda. $1.00 a slice, $1.00 a can of soda. As everyone else says, can't beat that!

I probably stood there for 5 minutes eating my pizza and watching as they sold through 5 pies (that's about 40 slices) in 5 minutes. There was a constant flow of customers yet there really wasn't much of a wait for a slice.  They're fast. And the pizza is amazing! Thin crust yet chewy and doughy and incredibly fresh. It doesn't have any time to sit around on a counter for hours since there is such a high customer rate. One of the best slices I've ever had in NYC if not THE best.

Dude. it is a dollar. ONE DOLLAR. In New York City. ONE dollar. Nothing is a dollar here. Even truck/cart lunch is $5 minimum and you don't get dysentery after 2 Bros. And it's not bad pizza. It really isn't. It's also not great pizza. But it does the trick (ie feeds you) and there are lots of oregano/parmesan/pepper flake shakers to drown out the bland sadness (or sad blandness?) of plain cheese pizza.

Just don't let me catch you ordering it with toppings and paying extra. Fool, you could walk to Trader Joe's and buy a pack of pepperoni for less.

$1 for a slice of pizza...you can't beat that!  $8 for a whole pie...even better!  That's an awesome value no matter how you slice it.

The slices aren't sitting around all day because they are constantly cranking out pies.  The pizza isn't bad; it's OK.  Come on, it's $1.

I don't know what time they close but I don't think they're open that late because sometimes I walk by late at night craving for some pizza and it's closed.  I wished they stayed open later.

You've been warned: this is a $1 pizza.

As with many other not-so-good pizza slices, the pizza lacks any real discernible taste. However, this is the place to go to if you are just in the mood for a cheap pizza. It has a decent bread/crust and lacks the sickening amounts of oil found elsewhere in NYC. And, of course, above all, it's just $1! Even though it's 2 star quality pizza, the price itself earns 2 Bros an extra star.

If you read the collection of rave reviews, a lay person (non-Yelp member) would believe that this place is the 2nd coming of DiFara/Artichoke/Grimaldi's, etc.

I think that the general public's rational thinking goes out the window when they see a sale. For example, if I browse amazon and overstock, I realize that I buy unnecessary DVDs I'll never watch, books I'll never read and can't re-gift, and watches I'll never wear because I'm too lazy to get the band adjusted after I receive them.

This is an example of pizza that's on sale in which I would never happily consume sober.

Yes, it has a small quaint seating area and the assembly line is good (efficient point of sale transactions), but really, the product is a poor representation of New York pizza.

I think of a scene in "Elf" where Will Ferrell sees a sign self-proclaiming "World's Best Coffee" and takes his date to the diner to try it. Actress Zooey Deschanel just spits it out because it simply sucks.

This business' niche is producing a high volume of fresh flavorless pizza in a prime location. It serves a need in this poor economy. I agree that desperate times call for desperate measures, but this pizza exudes the enthusiasm of a baked potato. It reminds me of pizza I would see at the airport. Blech.

I will give these guys credit, with inflated wheat prices, the size of the slices are fair. Too bad the taste isn't there. I know it's only a dollar, but I'd rather save it for something else. I even tried it twice sober to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Totally forgettable.

I am an asshole. An honest one. My tongue and stomach love me for it.

I think, like many reviews have already stated, you have to rate the pizza by the price. When I am hungry and walking around on St. Marks but don't have the time to sit down and order food, this place is super convenient and super cheap. $1 for a slice? It doesn't really get much better than that... but yeah, the pizza is a bit bland. I have to douse it in spices. I would give this place 4 stars except that I think that Mamani makes a better $1 pizza.

My cousin and I absolutely loved this place. The pizza was fresh from the oven and super cheap. This place is not designed for comfortable dining, but the pizza made up for my having to hunch over a tiny little table stuffed in a corner. Get a slice to-go if you can.

The $2.75 lunch special with two slices of cheese and a soda was awesome. I absolutely love pizza in New York because I live in NC and no one can seem to get it quite right down here.

I'm craving this place so bad while I write this review. yummy....
