Love and Care From Our Family to Yours Riverview Veterinary Hospital started in 1975 with Dr. Hann. Dr. Hann opened the hospital in Riverview, FL and was one of the first small animal veterinary hospitals that started in the city. He had so much love for animals and worked hard with his wife by his side. In 2014, he met Dr. Garriga and entrusted him to continue the legacy of the hospital. Dr. Garriga is a hard working veterinarian who spends a lot of time with his patients and resources educating his clients. Since then, he has expanded the hospital to a new building and larger staff to support the growing area. He has built an excellent team of doctors which consists of Dr. Vargo, Dr. Figueroa, Dr. Holley and Dr. Boyer. Our hospital has a variety of services to offer like wellness plans, medical visits, internal medicine, soft tissue surgeries, digital radiology, dentistry, ultrasound, laser therapy, pain management plan, chi medicine, behavior and nutrition, acupuncture, grooming and more!

My Australian Shepard was coughing and seemed to have something in her throat she needed to get out.
I used to bring her to this Vet when they were on Riverview Drive, so I made an appointment because they said I could come in with a mask. I guess that changed and I had to wait outside, which I wasn't 100% okay with.
Our current environment taken into account, they consulted with me and took her inside.
The doctor called me to go over his findings. Her chest is clear however, her trachea was sore so he said she might have a little infection. He gave me a steroid and antibiotic and said if that doesn't help, it might be an allergy so try benydryl.
If this doesn't work we will do XRays to see whats up.
I felt the treatment program was good and I did not feel like I was being taken advantage of financially.
This will be my go to for any issues Dakota hasHelpful 26Thanks 0Love this 19Oh no 0 - Tyra B.Riverview, FL038Jan 28, 2022
My Husky Gunner, has been diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy since he was 1, he is now 3. We have taken him to 4 different vets before here and all 4 would do the same thing. Take his blood, which always cost at least $150.00 plus the vet fee of 60+ just for them to keep him on the one medication that wasn't working. All four vets from different offices btw kept telling us there is nothing more to do but put him down. I would say we have spent at least 10 thousand dollars over the past 2 years on hospital and vet visits with no sign of ever getting him better. For the past 6 months we were really considering putting him down because his seizures became more and more frequent and violent to the point I believed he was in pain. One day after gunner having several seizures I called riverview vet hospital because they had what looked like the most helpful process with euthanasia. To my surprise I was met by a doctor who had many epileptic dogs as patients. She came in and was shocked I was told I would have to put my big boy down. She said we hadn't scratched the surface on medication yet. 30 days later gunner hasn't had 1 seizure. After that in a month he had 5 which is the lowest it's been in years (he normally had 10-15 in a month). We went back she readjusted his medication did not charge us for unnecessary bloodwork, we paid 33 dollars for the visit and now she not see him back for 3 months if all goes well. This place is a God send and I can't thank them enough for getting Gunner the help he needs! If you are looking for an affordable vet that actually cares about helping your pet this is the place to go!

If you love snd want to protect your animals take them somewhere else. My dog is dead because of medicine they prescribed snd their lack of care.

Don't go here. I am very disappointed in the up-charging they do. They told me in July that my dog had aggressive cancer in his leg. He is 13 yrs old so I said I would choose comfort care over $2K surgery. The leg is looks the same months later and there has been no other changes. I took him in today for an ear infection. He has had a few so I know that the brown on the Q-tip is an ear infection. I went in and instead of just looking in his ear and confirming an ear infection, they did a swab and charged $25 for cytology and $3 medical waste. The visit, ear drop and antibiotic total was over $110. That is not what I expected or think is a "normal" charge for a simple ear infection. They will nickel and dime you so go somewhere else. I am not going back!

The team here is OUTSTANDING! Everyone was kind, patient and thoughtful regarding both of our puppies and the humans too. We had a poor experience at our local vet and had a friend refer us here. I can't imagine ever putting the care of my new family in anyone else's hands. We arrived and it was raining, towels were offered for the pups and for us. ;) They follow up with a phone call 24-48 hours later to make sure everything is going well after the visit.
I would love to see more reviews for this office. Every pet owner should get the time and attention that you get when you come here.

Years ago I would have given this place a 5 star rating. Now I'm giving it a two. Every time I go the vet has no idea what's wrong with my pets and gives me a ton of unnecessary expensive medication. Also, claims blood work needs to be done excessively for hundreds of dollars. Does not call back in a timely manner. Will take my pets elsewhere. Don't get scammed!

I've been going to Riverview Veterinary Clinic for 8 years. The doctors and techs have always been caring and gentle with my cats. I recommend them highly! I like the fact that they always call the following day to see how my baby is doing.
They are on the expensive side but they are caring and convenient to home so I wouldn't go anywhere else! Bugsy, Bunny, Binky, Beau Beau, and Waldo love them!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Robin M.Tampa Bay, FL28727Jul 30, 2018Updated review
I have been going to this practice since 1989. While the practice changed hands a few years ago, the new owner, Dr. Garriga has continued to provide the same quality care and has very caring and compassionate employees that are friendly and willing to answer all my quesitons. I feel totally comfortable taking my 3 dogs there and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for great vet care!

I have always received the most compassionate care for my pets here, even at the times when the worst thing a pet owner has to do, has to be done. I feel like they are family! I would highly recommend this practice. I don't believe you would be disappointed.

I have been a customer here since Dr. Vargo was in medical school and before. The previous vet, Dr. Randy Hann developed a practice with one thought: provide reasonable loving care for animals.
Since Dr. Garriga has taken over, there have been many changes and today I experienced one piece of evidence that made me want to change vets, after over 4 decades.
I took over the care of my sister's 15 year old dachshund because he bites children and she moved in with her grandchildren. At Riverview vet, Dr. Vargo was able to diagnose Cushings Disease and chronic pancreatitis. A medical plan was developed, including meds and monitoring and the pet is doing better. Dr. Vargo also was able to diagnose Addison's disease in my 11 year old Standard Poodle. She, too, has an ongoing monitoring and medicine plan. Dr. Vargo is a fantastic vet whose knowledge in diagnosing and treatment shows true caring for animals.
Upon a recent blood check for the medication my sister's 15 year old dachshund is on, Dr. Vargo checked an itchy scaly patch under his chin and prescribed a cream. She instructed me to come back if the area did not clear up or other areas appeared. The neck area cleared up but upon his next bath, a patch of the hair on his ear fell out. He needed to go in for another blood draw and I tried to get an appointment to have the vet look at him that same day. I was told that Dr. Vargo was in surgery in the morning and booked with appointments for the afternoon but if I wanted to "walk-in" I could wait to be fit into the schedule AND there would be a "WALK-IN FEE". After expressing my disbelief at such a charge, Shelby hung up on me. I called back and spoke with the office manager who explained this policy was put in place to 'protect' against longer waiting times for clients that have an appointment. I was told many practices in the area have such a policy. I called 8 area practices and one had a "walk-in" fee.
This is a money sucking ploy that screams greed as a basis. The personal care that this office used to pride itself for has gone by the wayside. Also, the staff picture should be updated because half of them have moved on. I wonder why? Today I put a piece of the puzzle together.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
