I tried another Mexican Restaurant while visiting Vegas. El Herradero is in a small strip mall with a lot of closed down businesses.
When you pull into the parking lot, it seems like an abandoned building. There are a few cars in the lot. Many available stalls in front of the restaurant.
The front entrance is plastered with picture boards of the food they serve. You cannot see inside.
The inside is your typical Mexican restaurant fare. Mellow Mexican music. Colorful walls with pictures. About 10 tables.
A female greeted me, sat me down and brought a menu. I ordered a soda. Along with the soda, she brought house made chips and a refried bean dip.
I ordered the chicken enchilada plate with red sauce. It came with Spanish rice and refried beans. Also a dollop of sour cream and shredded lettuce.
Everything was mildly seasoned. I did not find it bland... as others have mentioned. I like that it wasn't over seasoned. The chicken enchiladas were moist and easily cut with your fork. A side of red spicy sauce added heat.
There were only two people working. The lady served as the hostess, the server and the all around kitchen assistant. The male did the cooking. Both were very nice and even said bye as I left. I enjoyed my meal and the atmosphere.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Juan H.Los Angeles, CA5114290Oct 14, 2023
The food was pretty good. The service was great. We came on a Monday morning. We went fire the raiders Vs Green Bay game.
We definitely felt a small family type vibe.
We were a group of 4. We ordered menudo- which was a good portion. We ordered a carnitas torta ahogada I enjoyed that dish. I want to try a different flavor and sauce The chile relleno combo was also very delicious with a crunchy texture of the egg whip from the Chile The carnitas enchiladas were also good.
Overall: we enjoyed it. I need to try other dishes Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1885371341Jan 2, 2023
Brief Recap: I was so hoping to like this place because it's close to my house and the ratings were decent; however, it was quite the "meh" experience for me & the hubby but the kiddo loved the bean burrito. It was a cheap dinner compared to other Mexican spots ($50 total + a tip).
Detailed review below:
Location: Off Warm Springs near the light at Spencer. It's next to a dog groomers and unfortunately that smell of wet dog and urine has lingered over. Parking is ample and right in front of the restaurant.
Service & Food: We walked in and there was another party sitting at the table. No servers in sight. We helped ourselves to 3 menus and then someone came from the back. They sat us and brought us some stale tortilla chips with "salsa" that appeared to be taken from the jugos/juices of ceviche or shrimp cocktail that tasted as if were just taken out of the refrigerator. It was mild in heat and other than the residual cocktail flavor it had none.
The carne asada platter was cook right then and there. We heard and smelled the meat being grilled so that also hopeful but it had NO flavor. The hubby had to add salt and pepper which isn't typically his thing. The beans were good but needed some salt. The Mexican (red) rice was also bland but it's consistency was good. It was served with corn tortillas on the side.
I got the albondigas as that was the only sopa they had available. The soup was boiling hot but not all the way through which I assume is because it was warmed in a microwave maybe. It was layered with grease which I had to physically spoon out (pictured before & after). As with all the other food, it too was bland and needed extra salt and lime for flavor. It was served with corn tortillas on the side.
The kiddo had a bean burrito which fell apart when she got it but she loved it. She said the beans were really good and the flour tortilla was good as well. She cleaned her plate off. She ordered this a la carte because there was only 3 items on the kids menu.
The Jamaica was watered down and lacked flavor which is hard to do as it's a flavorful flower.
Not everything on the menu is available which is annoying.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Kristine N.Las Vegas, NV8196266Nov 27, 2022
I really wanted to like this place since it had good reviews and the inside looked so cute- just like an authentic restaurant in Mexico does. But charging 2.99 for a basic taco is robbery :(
The tacos were nothing to rave about and barely had any onions on them. Very disappointing :(Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Steven K.Las Vegas, NV13141Nov 27, 2023Updated review
So tonight I accidentally ordered more authentic style tacos. In my mind when I opened my to go box - I was like "hrmm, this looks way better than "chicken soft tacos". AND THEY WERE. This place isn't in an impressive location but, who cares? The food is so good - I felt I needed to review it twice!

I don't recall having better chicken tacos - they are simple - packed with delicious chicken - the shells are crisp and delicious - the price is reasonable. Taco bell for instance, does not compare price or food-wise. I'm looking forward to trying more things from El Herradero!

Craving that home style Mexican cooking, this hit the spot! We ate Carne asada & mole, definitely worth the short drive from the hotel.

The food's great especially the beans and the burritos. The kids meals weren't that good because there were barely any meals on there. There were only three.
The drinks need more flavor the Jamaica is very flavorless that it tastes like water. Not the best drinks he could do better but it's alright.
The restaurant wasn't the biggest place we've been to. The service was OK and it was not as clean as we thought it was going to be as though the grooming, place next-door leaked into the restaurant, so there was a slight odor of animal urine.
