We had been here a few times before but not recently. The other day, we called to confirm what their website advertised about happy hour because we had a recent bad experience at another place. We were looking for a place to meet up with family for drinks yesterday before they drove back to Truckee and 1864 Tavern ended up being the perfect spot!
I went in first by myself while waiting for the others to arrive and immediately felt welcomed by the bartender. Turns out it was Dylan, one of the owners! He was warm, kind, friendly -- completely opposite of the experience we had at the other place we checked out.
I love that this place celebrates Nevada and that they try to keep their inventory as local as possible. While waiting for my husband and in-laws to arrive, Dylan offered a couple tasters to me after I told him I am a fan of ciders. I ended up getting the Ace Guava Cider - it was refreshing and delicious!
I brought my drink over to one of their comfy couches while waiting for my husband and in-laws to arrive. 1864 Tavern has a an old-timey, Victorian vibe which captures the spirit for which it was named - the year Abraham Lincoln proclaimed Nevada a state. I love that there are several seating areas scattered throughout comprised of couches and chairs facing each other with tables in between for your drinks. Your party will feel like it has a relaxing space to chat while also being part of a bigger, lively environment.
We all had a great time - many thanks to Dylan for being so attentive to us all. My husband and I know we will come back soon - there are some creative craft cocktails on their menu that I'd like to try!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Darlene N.Reno, NV1734061Nov 21, 2023
The is a cute little bar to go to with a historic feel. They have a variety of cocktails, and a good space for date nights or even a big group with all their seating.
I would definitely recommend.
P.S. I confirmed that the place is dog friendly too.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 10, 2024
My new favorite cocktail lounge in Reno! Maybe I'm late to the party but I'm thankful I was introduced to this place because it's awesome. I was walking by after dinner and noticed the bison head on the wall, cozy antique armchairs, and the portrait of Abe Lincoln and I couldn't resist taking a step inside. Their cocktail menu is diverse and the bartender was very friendly. There are several comfy seating areas to choose from and we made ourselves at home. I tried the lavender lemon drop and it was divine! There was so much to choose from on that cocktail menu. I will be back for more!

Outstanding whiskey selection and cocktails! Friendly and helpful bartenders. Fun for locals and out of town guests to get a good feeling for downtown and midtown Reno.

I forgot how great this cocktail bar was!! Came in on a Friday night and the place was vibrant with life! Their cocktails were absolutely stellar as well - love when bars incorporate egg whites into frothy goodness. Prices were on par with all of midtown. And their decor is super eclectic - almost historic meets modern western? Super cool spot for sure.

So I've been to Reno many times. But, I've not been to 1864 where it appears the locals go to. I'm thankful to my friend who introduced this place to me (and my other travel partners). A definite place for a revisit. (Fun Fact- My Yelp friends found this place in 2018 during Yelp's Unofficial Spring Break when a Yelp couple tied the knot and had their reception at 1864)
What do you get there? Well, let's start with the service. Everyone there was polite. (5 stars)
Adult craft beverages made to perfection.
Ambiance? Like imbibing in your own home's parlor.
Location? I don't know, I'm a visitor to Reno BUT that said, I'd check it out and find them if you're in Reno and check them out!

We have been going to 1864 Tavern for several years and it's always a great time! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and the cocktails are delicious. We haven't had a drink we didn't like and they are willing to swap out the base spirit upon request. Along with the cocktail menu, they also have several beers on tap as well as red and white wine options. There is seating at the bar where you can see the bartenders in action, as well as plenty of cozy couch and chair seating.

Stopped in here as it is near a restaurant we were going to and needed to grab a drink while waiting for our friends. I was immediately in l
LOVE! Such a Cool mellow relaxed vibe made me feel welcome and at home. Like I had just received a hug. It has an old Speakeasy feel with an almost fancy traditional, vintage look and surround. The bartender was uber cool and definitely knows what he was doing. As a former bartender/mixologist myself, I can tell when a barkeep knows his way around a rail. This guy mixed us up two fresh and tasty cocktails that were satisfying and delicious and didn't leave us wanting for anything in regards to flavor.
I cant wait to get back here and chill with a good friend, sip on one of their freshly mixed cocktails and a sit on one of their vintage davenports while my mind wanders into thinking its the mid 1800s.
Cheers and bravo.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ross C.Danville, CA13010May 12, 2024
Very Impressed. Living in Tahoe Basin and spending more time in Reno. I've been on the Hunt for a bar that felt comfortable and made serious Classic Cocktails with a Twist. I'm a Manhattan guy. Tracy built an innovative and great Cocktail. 1864 is a Go To.

Cute atmosphere, friendly service. Wednesday night trivia that we just missed, seemed like a great crowd. Their drink selection was delicious and versatile and there was plenty of couch seating. Music was decent too.
