Disappointed in lack of on site service. Seemed that the Inn is being managed from offsite company as there was no one around to provide any services like extra towels or room service and Or questions about breakfast.
When I called toll free number to alert them there was no breakfast delivered, it wasn't until then they knew the bakery hadn't delivered food items to Inn-that morning. Many guests were waiting and wondering where breakfast was and staff to get more information.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tracy B.East Stroudsburg, PA021Apr 16, 2023
Save your money and stay away from this place!!! If it was even possible, I would give this bed and breakfast NO STARS for the appearance, rooms and service. The pictures on the website are deceiving and look nothing like what you get when you arrive. We stayed in Room 202 and the bathroom has BLACK mold on the ceiling, the toilet seat is broken, the room was dusty, the curtain over the door is broken and a tripping hazard and none of the floors are level. The sitting room smells and the breakfast they offer is pretty much the same every day except for switching out sausage for taylor ham on the bagel sandwich which wasn't very good at all! There is no one around to ask for more water to fill the Keurig or tea kettle and they don't label where utensils are kept so guests use the metal spoons left for stirring coffee to eat the instant oatmeal and then leave for others guests to use. Highly unsanitary and thankful we saw the behavior so we did not use it! We left our sign out to service our room as instructed and no one ever came. It's a lot of money for a room and subpar service. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone! The new owner doesn't care about his guests and even with renovations to be done, I wouldn't give my last penny to stay in this deplorable B & B.

My husband and I were very pleased with our stay at 1837. We were easily able to find the house and although the parking is a little tight you should be fine unless you have a super large vehicle. Check in was very easy and the bottom floor was cute. We were in room 301. The room was on the third floor and the floors are super interesting because they are slightly titled so you kind of feel like you are on a ship. The room was large and although we were near the street it was still very quiet. We were able to walk to almost anything we wanted to do so it was nice to be able to leave our car and not have to try to drive and park everywhere we wanted to go.

Completely amazing experience!!!! The owners were incredible and treated us with hospitality and kindness the second we entered. We had never experience a bed & breakfast before and being from New Jersey we did not know what to expect. The room was beautiful, immaculate, and homey. The service and kindness we were shown was absolutely out of the world. I wish I could give it 10 stars!!!!

My friend and I stayed here recently for 3 nights and we had a great experience. Mohamad and Lynn are extremely accommodating (both my friend and I have food allergies and/or dietary restrictions). It was walking distance everywhere we wanted to go in the city. We only needed a ride to/from the airport and to the beach. Great, unique stay!

Past visitors have recorded years of glowing appreciation for hospitality, charm and personal welcome afforded in this interesting building. Unfortunately, the personal touch is now lost with new ownership and management. Guests are left to shift for themselves - no welcoming host, no custom prepared breakfast, no afternoon tea treat. Features touted by website have lapsed. And that is sad.

We really enjoyed our stay. Room/bed super comfortable. Great location. Afternoon tea and breakfast were delicious. Only negative would be parking but all the older, beautiful homes have little parking..

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the quaint, beautiful, clean, and tremendously friendly 1837 Bed and Breakfast. My husband and I had the opportunity to stay in two of the rooms here for our anniversary trip and it did not disappoint. The rooms are stunning, the homemade breakfast that Lynne prepares daily, the incredible desserts she shares and the phenomenal company Lynn and Mohamad provided while we visited made our stay one to remember.
You will not be disappointed with choosing to stay with 1837. The only bad thing- we didn't get to stay long enough! Lynn and Mohamad you have a great thing going! I hope to be back to visit one day!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alison M.Boyne City, MI0329Nov 15, 2021
We stayed three nights here. Haley, the innkeeper, was wonderful. Friendly, competent, and helpful. The owners (Lynn and Mohamed) were also great, arranging a walking tour for us last-minute when our pre-arranged one fell apart.
The rooms are charming. The beds are comfortable and the showers are great. It would have been nice to have a second chair in our room, because the seating in the parlor was seriously uncomfortable (two chairs about 12 inches high and the settee from another century)
The B&B is well located. We walked everywhere! It is also very affordable-check it out!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Joe G.NC, NC01May 8, 2022
Stayed at the 1837 Bed & Breakfast for a milestone birthday weekend and was very glad we selected this B&B. When staying in Charleston, you want to stay within walking distance to the historic sites and you want to enjoy the history & convince of your lodging. The host & Hostess were wonderful; they went out of their way to make our family group feel welcome.
Unfortunately all travel is having to deal with COVID-19. The 1837 B&B took the necessary precautions and yet not impact their hospitality.
Our three families enjoyed our stay and we plan to return.
